Zephagamon is a Magic Knight Digimon. Called the God of Wind, it embodies the data of the winds that blow across the Digital World. Zephagamon primarily dwells within wooded areas, bringing with it warm winds that ripen the fruits of the trees. As such, it safeguards not only Digimon, but the environment itself as well. The source of Zephagamon's power is the DigiCore beneath the wings on its chest, which is protected at all times by whirling winds. It is said that, in urgent situations, Zephagamon prevents disasters from happening by unleashing massive energy directly from the atmosphere via its exposed DigiCore. Zephagamon is considered one of the heroes of the Vortex Warriors, as the winds that it generates are magical in nature.[1]

Attacks

  • Gale Braver: Transforms each of its dual blades into boomerangs, that are enveloped in whirlwinds, and delivers slicing blows.
  • Anemoi Embrace (Ἄνεμοι Embrace? lit. "Wind Embrace"): Transforms its wings into wind energy before they converge upon enemies to bisect them.
  • Divine Tempest: Releases massive wind energy from the DigiCore on its chest, scraping enemies off the very face of the planet and blowing them away to distant lands.
  • Divine Tempest Ligero: A stronger version of Divine Tempest, usable by Zephagamon ACE.
  • Gail Braver Thyella: Zephagamon ACE creates an energy sword of wind and slashes with it.

Etymologies[]

Zephagamon (ゼファーガモン)

Official romanization given by the Digimon Reference Book and used in the franchise.

Development[]

When Zephagamon was first shown during the Digimon Con 2024 event, it was shown with its name listed as "Zephyrmon". A few hours later it was shown again, now named Zephagamon. No explanation was given for the change, though it can be assumed it was changed due to the name already having been used as the localized name for Shutumon — who is known in all English media as Zephyrmon — and they had forgotten to change the promotional material that had referred to it as Zephyrmon.

Fiction[]

Digimon Liberator[]

During Shoto Kazama's duel with Owen Dreadnought, he digivolves EX7-034: GrandGalemon to BT20-1010: Zephagamon ACE. He uses its effect to suspend BT21-015: Cyclonemon, then uses another effect to send BT21-029: Medusamon to the bottom of Owen's deck as there's two suspended Digimon. It destroys Cyclonemon, and uses the Piercing effect to destroy the BT21-007: Agumon in Owen's security[2]. BT21-024: Cyberdramon's effect forces Shoto to put a card in his hand into his security. He puts EX7-036: Zephagamon in the hopes its 12000DP would be enough to destroy a Digimon should it be attacked.[2] This doesn't work as BT21-026: WarGreymon both Zephagamon ACE and the Zephagamon in security.
