Tai comes face to face with a mysterious boy riding on the back of a Digimon inside the Network. The missile launch is approaching and Tai and his friends must stop it at all costs.

Summary

Upon hearing that the American military network is being attacked, Tai Kamiya, Greymon, Matt Ishida, and Garurumon all head toward its equivalent in the Network. Along they way, they introduce themselves to each other and to Izzy Izumi, who is acting as their mission control. Upon reaching the site of the American military network, they find a huge swarm of Argomon (In-Training) and their Rookie-level leader. Matt and Garurumon draw their fire, allowing Tai and Greymon a clear path to charge at the leader while Matt and Garurumon then form a pincer strike on the other side. Unfortunately, they are unable to defeat the lead Argomon, who digivolves into its Ultimate form although all of the In-Training Argomon are destroyed.

Argomon has Greymon and Garurumon on the ropes when Tai pleads with Matt to implement his plan. Matt is hesitant due to the risk involved, but their Digimon resolve to see in through, and Matt decides to trust in them. Greymon kicks up a smokescreen with his attacks, allowing both Digimon to charge in close and unleash point-black attacks that heavily injure Argomon but also harm themselves. Unfortunately, even this is not enough to defeat Argomon. Argomon digivolves once more, and they are ultimately unable to prevent the launch of a nuclear missile, whose target is Tokyo. They decide to continue to fight, and when all seems lost, feathers of light float down to Tai's and Matt's siblings, Kari Kamiya and T.K. Takaishi, respectively. As the pair grasp the feathers, Tai and Matt resolve to fight. Their Digimon fuse into Omnimon, ready to do battle once more.

Digimon references

  • The plot draws influences from the similarly named Digimon Adventure: Our War Game!. Both feature a rapidly-digivolving enemy Digimon infiltrating the American military network to launch a nuclear missile at Tokyo, as well as emphasizing the timer counting down and have Omnimon emerge from an egg of light.
  • Kari and T.K.'s Crests of Light and Hope activating when Omnimon is created draws parallels to when both were needed to achieve Agumon and Gabumon's Mega forms in Digimon Adventure.
