The hot springs had dried up again for some reason. Joe takes a group of Digimon with him and heads south to a warm place. However, they are attacked by pirates led by Olegmon.

Summary[]

In the frozen glaciers of the Digital World, Joe and Gomamon, joined by most of their allies from the hot springs, such as Kabukimon, ShogunGekomon, Blossomon, and several Nanimon and Gekomon, are treading through the frozen wastes, wondering how they ended up there. However, the cold has finally affected them to the point they collapse from hypothermia and exhaustion. Luckily for them, a Blimpmon arrives carrying Mimi and Palmon on board, who are surprised to find Joe, Gomamon, and their allies.

Taking them aboard the Blimpmon, who happen to be taking Mimi, Palmon, and their class from Babamon's school on a field trip, Joe and his Digimon allies are given some much-needed food and warmth, though ShogunGekomon and Kabukimon nearly come to blows with BanchoMamemon before Palmon intervenes. When Mimi asks what happened to the hot springs, Joe explains that the hot springs dried up again, but not by Kabukimon and ShogunGekomon's doing. However, Kabukimon knows of a warm land to the south that might be of benefit to them, so Joe took them in that direction when they collapsed and were picked up by Mimi. Mimi agrees to take them that way, but the Blimpmon is soon attacked by a larger pirate vessel captained by Olegmon, who demands all their food and water if they want to live. Blimpmon is unable to retaliate as its weapons are out of ammo due to Babamon's orders, and BanchoMamemon's bats are under repair as well. Luckily, as they reach open water, ShogunGekomon uses his Musical Fist to protect Blimpmon from Olegmon's cannon fire until they can gain altitude to escape the range of the cannons, but in his celebrations, ShogunGekomon loses his footing and nearly falls off Blimpmon. Further cannon fire causes Joe and Gomamon to be knocked off the Blimpmon as well, and they hit ShogunGekomon, sending all three plummeting to the water below, to Mimi, Palmon, and Kabukimon's horror, where when Joe comes to, he finds that they've been captured by Olegmon's crew. After they escape, a Gwappamon tries to pursue them, but collapses from hunger. Meanwhile, Blimpmon moves in so BanchoMamemon, Kabukimon, Mimi, and Palmon can rescue their friends, but find that Olegmon is using ShogunGekomon as leverage to get them to hand over their supplies to him, which raises BanchoMamemon's suspicion over Olegmon playing dirty to get what he wants. Gwappamon explains to Joe and Gomamon about the island where they used to live had become a wasteland, so they took what supplies were left and set sailed, trying to survive, and ended up running out when they could not find anything.

Joe challenges Olegmon to control of the ship, and on a nearby glacier, Olegmon proves resilient to Zudomon's attacks. Confident, he declares that he'll only take their food, not their lives, but the tables turn when Joe strengthens his bond with Zudomon, causing him to digivolve to Vikemon. Vikemon quickly subdues Olegmon, damaging his ship in the process, and after Olegmon surrenders Joe has Blimpmon tow the ship to its original destination. A grateful Olegmon names Joe a "real shogun" just as Tai and Agumon show up to collect the group.
