Fiction[]
Unchained is an AI that suddenly formed one from data one day within Digimon Liberator. At some point after forming, they became a special advisor to the debug team. DEBUG.6-2 Unchained
Being neither human nor Digimon depressed Unchained, and so they would go to a dark area they named as "The Void" so they could be alone when feeling upset. DEBUG.6-2 Unchained
An unspecified male member of the debug team gave Unchained their old Partner Digimon, which Unchained proceeded to turn into Maquinamon. They then mass re-produced Maquinamon, and have around fifty of them. Though not human, Unchained came to love every single human and Digimon in the game, and so decided they wanted to make them stronger by testing them. They would put their Maquinamon inside Digimon, which would cause said Digimon to rampage — with the Digimon compelled to take over NPCs. Players would then defeat the now also out of control NPCs, which would make the players stronger. Being possessed by Maquinamon also allowed wild Digimon to survive, as Digimon were only able to survive for a few days inside LACUNA. No one else was aware of what Unchained was doing. DEBUG.6-2 Unchained
One day, Unchained talked to Cool Boy in the Garden, with some of the debug team members returning from their missions during said conversation. Yuuki wanted to talk to Cool Boy too, but chose not to seeing he was already pre-occupied with Unchained. DEBUG.4-2 GODDESS FROM THE ICE AGE
Months later, Cool Boy and Unchained have a video call about T.A.L.E's products. Cool Boy informs Unchained that development is mostly going well, though they do have some issues in Digimon Liberator such as synchronization with the D-STORAGE. Unchained figures that must be why Cool Boy is doing field work within the game, and expresses concern about if he's over working himself. Cool Boy plays down their concerns, as he feels he needs to take action so that LACUNA can have peace. After the call ends, Cool Boy leaves for a meeting. Unchained, meanwhile, ponders over his words of peace — figuring that whilst they both want world peace, the current set up where Digimon and humans exploit each other was actually much better — though still hopes they could get along with each other. Finding it fun to "mess with heroes", Unchained opens up a screen so that they and the Maquinamon could watch what Close was up to. Select Few (Part 2)
Unchained notices an unconscious Wormmon whilst using their powers to look around the Obsidian Desert, and sends a Maquinamon to go save it. DEBUG.6-2 Unchained
A while later, Unchained goes to The Void as they are upset. They remind themselves over and over again that they are not a human, and express annoyance over the fact they were upset over this fact. They become even more annoyed at how often they had come here to be upset, since they had been interacting with humans more often due to their role as a special advisor to the debug team. As they think about the various members of the debug team, they wonder if maybe they actually are a human, though quickly snaps out of that chain of thought and accepts that they'll never be a human nor a Digimon. Unchained decides not to blame the humans for how they felt, since it wasn't the human's fault, and wishes they could spend more time together. As they think of each member of the debug team one by one, they realize they love not just the debug team members — but every single person who likes Digimon — and that that was why they wanted to put them all to the test. They wonder what would happen if the Digimon were to turn on the humans, and how they would react, and that that was why they had been doing their plan.
They think back to the human who had given them their original partner Digimon, and then summons more than 50 Maquinamon. They ask all of them if they think humans are frustrating, though receive no answer since they can't talk. Unchained becomes surprised to see that every single Maquinamon had been captured by the debug team (and then sent to Unchained) and they weren't alone — they the unconscious Wormmon with them. Unchained asks Wormmon if it was tough to live in LACUNA, though since it wasn't awake it also couldn't answer. Unchained laughs at how ironic it is that Digimon can't survive in LACUNA, since they were born there, and becomes determined to change the World so that Digimon could live in peace. They talk out loud about how Cool Boy has the same goal, but that his plans would take far too long and that many Digimon would die before his plans could come to fruition. They take one of the Maquinamon and turn it back into data — putting it inside Wormmon. This awoke Wormmon, with Unchained's next plan being to put Wormmon inside of an NPC. DEBUG.6-2 Unchained Unchained watches via screen as Close, Shoto Kazama, and Owen Dreadnought defeat a trio of Deep Savers NPCs. Unchained celebrates and considers the trio's team work to be passable. They then figure it was time to start their plan, now ready to send the Maquinamon possessed Wormmon out. Chain of Liberation (Part 2) They open up a portal and send Wormmon out to LACUNA, so that it could go find an NPC to possess. Unchained then says they hope Cool Boy would be able to forgive them not just for their actions up to now — but for all their future actions as well. DEBUG.6-2 Unchained
Shortly afterwards, a large amount of black holes open up in Jewel — in which there were 50 BlackImperialdramon Dragon Mode/Fighter Mode (who likely were possessed by 50 Maquinamon) which were commanded by Sam the Clown — who was somewhere in LACUNA. Only one of them was real however, the other 49 were clones. When the black holes show up, the admins log out all regular players — though allow staff and debug team members to remain logged in — with Unchained having told Cool Boy that they predicted the current issue could cause LACUNA to be destroyed. Altea had said all debug members currently logged in, other than Shoto, had gone to the Garden, a fact that annoys Cool Boy as they had sent out notifications for all debuggers to go there and as such Shoto had muted his notifications. Cool Boy decides he would have to go and get Shoto himself though none of the T.A.L.E were currently available for him to log into LACUNA, since they were being used to log out players — meaning he had no choice but to used the unfinished headset prototype in the development office despite the dangers that could bring. Yao Qinglan protests against this, though Cool Boy shuts her down as he felt needed to get Shoto to safety. Unchained appears via video call and says they have good news and bad news. The bad news — the Imperialdramon are very strong Digimon that have the ability to destroy LACUNA and tells them how only one of them was real. Cool Boy wonders if defeating the original would take the clones with it, with Unchained saying they hope that's the case. Unchained mentions they had managed to figure out Sam the Clown was responsible, and that it was hiding somewhere in LACUNA. Since dealing with Sam was of high importance, the admins send a request to the debug team to find it. He asks for the good news, which Unchained says is they will be going with Cool Boy and would debug the prototype as he was using it. Cool Boy reminds Unchained that them going out of their private closed network risked deletion but Unchained says not to worry and that they don't have time to discuss it. Cool Boy gives in and allows Unchained to come, even knowing they'll probably have crazy demands in return for helping out. As Cool Boy says they will protect the World together, Unchained smiles — happy they get to help their hero. Cool Boy whispers to Yao, with Unchained not seemingly hearing, and gives her a USB, saying to use it if anything bad were to happen to him. Yao worries even more about Cool Boy's safety, whilst Cool Boy transfers Unchained to his phone and leaves to go get the prototype. Raid on the World (Part 1)
