Fiction[]

Unchained is an AI that suddenly formed one from data one day within Digimon Liberator. At some point after forming, they became a special advisor to the debug team. DEBUG.6-2 Unchained

Close is another Digital Lifeform, who was created in response to players' data passing through LACUNA's structural data. Unchained gave Close her name, with the two Digital Lifeforms considering each other to be siblings. Unlike Unchained, who was made to look androgynous, Close was made to look female. Though no one knows why this happened, people theorize it may be a result of the player data having been subjected to a deeper learning process. DEBUG.7-1 Forever. Always. Together.

Shortly after Close's birth, Unchained tells her about their plans. Unchained planned one day planned to over take E.G.G. so that they could "liberate" all the Digimon in the Garden and planned to turn LACUNA into an ark so that they can reach the "true Digital World". Unchained explains that Close had been born to be the cornerstone of this plan. PRELUDE OF DESTRUCTION (Part 2)

Being neither human nor Digimon depressed Unchained, and so they would go to a dark area they named as "The Void" so they could be alone when feeling upset. DEBUG.6-2 Unchained

Unchained approaches Zenith, and asks for his help in their plan. Zenith agrees, under the condition that Unchained would get him a rematch on the grandest stage with Owen Dreadnought. Unchained agrees, and Zenith gives Vemmon to Unchained. DEBUG.11-3 Xeno -BEGINS- Unchained pasts Vemmon's data onto Maquinamon, which strengthen it and allowed it to survive in LACUNA. They then mass re-produced Maquinamon, and made around fifty of them. DEBUG.6-2 Unchained

Though not human, Unchained came to love every single human and Digimon in the game, and so decided they wanted to make them stronger by testing them. They would put their Maquinamon inside Digimon, which would cause said Digimon to rampage — with the Digimon compelled to take over NPCs. Players would then defeat the now also out of control NPCs, which would make the players stronger. Being possessed by Maquinamon also allowed wild Digimon to survive, as Digimon were only able to survive for a few days inside LACUNA. No one else was aware of what Unchained was doing. DEBUG.6-2 Unchained

One day, Unchained talked to Cool Boy in the Garden, with some of the debug team members returning from their missions during said conversation. Yuuki wanted to talk to Cool Boy too, but chose not to seeing he was already pre-occupied with Unchained. DEBUG.4-2 GODDESS FROM THE ICE AGE

Months later, Cool Boy and Unchained have a video call about T.A.L.E's products. Cool Boy informs Unchained that development is mostly going well, though they do have some issues in Digimon Liberator such as synchronization with the D-STORAGE. Unchained figures that must be why Cool Boy is doing field work within the game, and expresses concern about if he's over working himself. Cool Boy plays down their concerns, as he feels he needs to take action so that LACUNA can have peace. After the call ends, Cool Boy leaves for a meeting. Unchained, meanwhile, ponders over his words of peace — figuring that whilst they both want world peace, the current set up where Digimon and humans exploit each other was actually much better — though still hopes they could get along with each other. Finding it fun to "mess with heroes", Unchained opens up a screen so that they and the Maquinamon could watch what Close was up to. SELECT FEW (Part 2)

Unchained notices an unconscious Wormmon whilst using their powers to look around the Obsidian Desert, and sends a Maquinamon to go save it. DEBUG.6-2 Unchained

A while later, Unchained goes to The Void as they are upset. They remind themselves over and over again that they are not a human, and express annoyance over the fact they were upset over this fact. They become even more annoyed at how often they had come here to be upset, since they had been interacting with humans more often due to their role as a special advisor to the debug team. As they think about the various members of the debug team, they wonder if maybe they actually are a human, though quickly snaps out of that chain of thought and accepts that they'll never be a human nor a Digimon. Unchained decides not to blame the humans for how they felt, since it wasn't the human's fault, and wishes they could spend more time together. As they think of each member of the debug team one by one, they realize they love not just the debug team members — but every single person who likes Digimon — and that that was why they wanted to put them all to the test. They wonder what would happen if the Digimon were to turn on the humans, and how they would react, and that that was why they had been doing their plan.

They think back to the human who had given them their original partner Digimon, and then summons more than 50 Maquinamon. They ask all of them if they think humans are frustrating, though receive no answer since they can't talk. Unchained becomes surprised to see that every single Maquinamon had been captured by the debug team (and then sent to Unchained) and they weren't alone — they the unconscious Wormmon with them. Unchained asks Wormmon if it was tough to live in LACUNA, though since it wasn't awake it also couldn't answer. Unchained laughs at how ironic it is that Digimon can't survive in LACUNA, since they were born there, and becomes determined to change the World so that Digimon could live in peace. They talk out loud about how Cool Boy has the same goal, but that his plans would take far too long and that many Digimon would die before his plans could come to fruition. They take one of the Maquinamon and turn it back into data — putting it inside Wormmon. This awoke Wormmon, with Unchained's next plan being to put Wormmon inside of an NPC. DEBUG.6-2 Unchained Unchained watches via screen as Close, Shoto Kazama, and Owen Dreadnought defeat a trio of Deep Savers NPCs. Unchained celebrates and considers the trio's team work to be passable. They then figure it was time to start their plan, now ready to send the Maquinamon possessed Wormmon out. CHAIN OF LIBERATION (Part 2) They open up a portal and send Wormmon out to LACUNA, so that it could go find an NPC to possess. Unchained then says they hope Cool Boy would be able to forgive them not just for their actions up to now — but for all their future actions as well. DEBUG.6-2 Unchained Wormmon proceeds to posses Sam the Clown, with Unchained using Sam in their plan.

At some point, Unchained transferred the the data of BlackImperialdramon from the Digital World — first to Cross Connectia, then to LACUNA via Cross Connectia. They come up with a plan to use Wormmon, Sam, and the Imperialdramon to cause chaos. Just like Maquinamon before, Unchained makes 49 clones of Imperialdramon. DEBUG.11-3 Xeno -BEGINS-

Shortly afterwards, a large amount of black holes open up in Jewel inside of which were the fifty Imperialdramon — commanded by Sam the Clown, who was somewhere in LACUNA. When the black holes show up, the admins log out all regular players — though allow staff and debug team members to remain logged in — with Unchained having told Cool Boy that they predicted the current issue could cause LACUNA to be destroyed. Altea had said all debug members currently logged in, other than Shoto, had gone to the Garden, a fact that annoys Cool Boy as they had sent out notifications for all debuggers to go there and as such Shoto had muted his notifications. Cool Boy decides he would have to go and get Shoto himself though none of the T.A.L.E were currently available for him to log into LACUNA, since they were being used to log out players — meaning he had no choice but to used the unfinished headset prototype in the development office despite the dangers that could bring. Yao Qinglan protests against this, though Cool Boy shuts her down as he felt needed to get Shoto to safety. Unchained appears via video call and says they have good news and bad news. The bad news — the Imperialdramon are very strong Digimon that have the ability to destroy LACUNA and tells them how only one of them was real. Cool Boy wonders if defeating the original would take the clones with it, with Unchained saying they hope that's the case. Unchained mentions they had managed to figure out Sam the Clown was responsible, and that it was hiding somewhere in LACUNA. Since dealing with Sam was of high importance, the admins send a request to the debug team to find it. He asks for the good news, which Unchained says is they will be going with Cool Boy and would debug the prototype as he was using it. Cool Boy reminds Unchained that them going out of their private closed network risked deletion but Unchained says not to worry and that they don't have time to discuss it. Cool Boy gives in and allows Unchained to come, even knowing they'll probably have crazy demands in return for helping out. As Cool Boy says they will protect the World together, Unchained smiles — happy they get to help their hero. Cool Boy whispers to Yao, with Unchained not seemingly hearing, and gives her a USB, saying to use it if anything bad were to happen to him. Yao worries even more about Cool Boy's safety, whilst Cool Boy transfers Unchained to his phone and leaves to go get the prototype. RAID ON THE WORLD (Part 1)

Unchained betrays Cool Boy, and traps him inside Cross Connectia. Cool Boy knew this would happen though, and the USB he gave Yao had a tracking program inside it. THE SKY FALL (Part 1)

Unchained eventually finds Shoto mid conversation with Kokatorimon about how it's weird it is that there's no NPCs around. Shoto is surprised when Unchained comes up to them and becomes even more surprised when Unchained says they had been looking for him. As Unchained introduces themself, Shoto asks why such a high ranking special consultant was looking for him then brings up the fact that other players shouldn't be allowed to come into his quest area. Unchained explains that they and Cool Boy had used their managerial authority to invade the area, as they needed to find Shoto — with Cool Boy's involvement shocking Shoto. Unchained then begins to explain about the Imperialdramon rampage that could destroy LACUNA. OVERWRITE BLACK (Part 1)

The debug team manage to defeat the Imperialdramon/Sam and save LACUNA. During the battle, Zenith had taken a blow for Owen which could've killed him — which caused his data to corrupt. Unchained transferred Zenith's damaged data to Cross Connectia DEBUG.11-3 Xeno -BEGINS- and is considered to have gone missing. THE SKY FALL (Part 2)

Unchained transfers a furious Zenith from Cross Connectia to the Void. Unchained offers to talk and make up, with Zenith instead wanting to lunge at Unchained — unable to as his arm and eye data were corrupted. Unable to do much, Zenith just asks Unchained if they have ever heard of gyudon. Unchained knows what it is, though points out how they're unable to eat it as they aren't human. He explains why he had brought it up: Unchained was supposed to be like gyudon — quick and simple. He asks why Unchained had involved Owen, Unchained finally realizing why Zenith was mad. Unchained explains they had no way to control the Imperialdamon — they weren't the type of Digimon that would follow instructions.

They discuss how Zenith had agreed to help Unchained with their plan. Unchained doesn't understand why Zenith was so focused on Owen in particular, thinking that any member of the debug team could take his place, even suggesting Cool Boy — but no, Zenith was only interested in Owen. He compares Cool Boy to Unchained, saying they're the same — wasting their power as they lacked self interest, caring too much about others. Bored of the conversation, Unchained says how Zenith makes their life harder, and how they could only put up with so much of Zenith's nonsense. Zenith though, just reiterates that the only thing he cares about is the rematch. Unchained summons an NPC, a confused Zenith pointing out he was be unable to duel it in his current state. Unchained instead says that it was a gift, and has the NPC merge with Zenith's body. The NPC's parts replaced the damaged parts of Zenith's body, Zenith now looking half man half NPC. Zenith now "fixed", Unchained says they will fulfil their promise — and that Zenith would get his rematch.

Unchained explains their plan: they would host an event, which would act as the end of Liberator's main storyline — the goal being to harvest player data. Zenith would act as "Xeno", a supposed NPC, and would battle players. If Owen was as good as Zenith said he was, a rematch would be inevitable — since Owen would want to stop Unchained and Xeno as a member of the debug team. Hearing this, Zenith's mood switches from furious to delighted — he didn't even care that the plan had a chance of killing him. Unchained gives him back his D-STORAGE, Vemmon now returned to Zenith — Unchained pointing out that Zenith needed Vemmon, since the rematch required his Vemmon deck. Thankful for what Unchained had done, he promises he would make it up to Unchained.

Unchained opens a portal, with the three of them going through it. DEBUG.11-3 Xeno -BEGINS-

Some time later, after Yao created a plan to save Cool Boy and Zenith's data, Unchained ambushes Yao inside the Garden right after she had sent some debuggers to Cross Connectia. They say their plan is going according to plan, and is able to take over Liberator's servers. Unchained disabled the log out button, which makes Yao's plea for everyone to log out unable to come to fruition. THE SKY FALL (Part 2)

Unchained has the Maquinamon burst out E.G.G., destroying it. They landed all over LACUNA. Regular players, unaware of what they were, were excited — whilst the debug team felt despair upon seeing them. Unchained appears on a monitor, and asks everyone if they want to "race towards the ending". The regular players assume this is referring to the announced but unknown dated quest that leads into the end of Liberator's main storyline, and so get even more hyped up. As Unchained gives more information, they use the fake name Chained — pretending to be the NPC of the same name from the game's main storyline. Unchained informs the players that the previously announced quest was about to begin, and that Liberator was about to come to its end.

Unchained tells the group that the many Digimon they saw earlier were named Maquinamon, that they had spread all over LACUNA, and that some of them had even digivolved. They explain that when a Maquinamon digivolves, it parasites an NPC and that parasited NPC will duel players. By defeating an NPC, a player will earn a point — and to progress to the next stage of an event, a player must obtain a certain amount of points. Unchained also tell them that if a parasited NPC defeats a player, the digivolved Maquniamon will switch from parasiting the NPC and will instead parasite the player who just lost. Players have no choice but to take part in the event as they cannot log out, and the NPC will be hunting for players. Once a certain amount of players progress to the next round, it will begin — with the players having to duel against a character supposedly created for the event — "Xeno", who is actually Zenith (this fact unknown to anyone but Unchained) with the goal being to prove that the outsiders (players) are worthy of ruling LACUNA. PRELUDE OF DESTRUCTION (Part 1)

When Yao and Sangomon try hacking into a locked treasure chest in Lapis Marines, they are attacked by a MockingBirdmon with an NPC. Yao assumes it was sent by Unchained, to try and stop them. UNKNOWN BREAKER (Part 1)
