I wouldn't put too much stock in the rumor since the dubbing license for the anime belonged to Saban Brands who sold their stuff to Hasbro, the anime itself was made by Toei and the bulk of the IP outside of the anime belongs to Bandai. Disney basically has no ownership over Digimon and therefore legally can't do this now since they sold the dubbing license back to Saban.

I wouldn't put too much stock in the rumor since the dubbing license for the anime belonged to Saban Brands who sold their stuff to Hasbro, the anime itself was made by Toei and the bulk of the IP outside of the anime belongs to Bandai. Disney basically has no ownership over Digimon and therefore legally can't do this now since they sold the dubbing license back to Saban.

Plus there have been instances of false rumors getting reported in media before.
