An eerie sphere, Sakkakumon suddenly appears. Tai and the others are trapped inside Sakkakumon. There, an archenemy from the past, Devimon, appears before T.K. and Angemon.
As FAGA continues to be on the minds of the DigiDestined as they make their way closer to it, the Vademon worshipers of Millenniummon decide to up their ante and send Sakkakumon to deal with them. One of Sakkakumon's spheres manage to capture Taichi, Yamato, Takeru, and Koshiro with their partner Digimon before going after Mimi, Sora, Joe, and Hikari alongside Komondomon. Inside the sphere, the boys face off with phony replicas of Digimon they've fought in the past, while Gatomon explains the threat of Sakkakumon to the others before they are discovered by the sphere. Soon, Takeru and Angemon find themselves facing a replica of Devimon, who tries to break Angemon by saying the DigiDestined are a curse, but Angemon will not fall for the deception.
Meanwhile, the other DigiDestined not captured try to fight Sakkakumon's sphere, but are beaten back by their fellow Digimon's attacks that the sphere uses against them. Devimon soon overpowers Angemon and begins to corrupt him, but when Takeru refuses to run and stands strong, trusting that Angemon won't be defeated by his shadow, his Crest of Hope allows Angemon to break free and digivolve into MagnaAngemon, destroying Devimon, the replicas, and Sakkakumon's sphere in one fall swoop. However, while the DigiDestined reunite, Sakkakumon recovers his sphere's remains, creates a replacement, and retreats to regroup with the rest of them, while the Vademon see their plan has failed and now know to beware of the threat the DigiDestined pose to Millenniummon's rebirth. Meanwhile, despite still hearing Devimon's voice, MagnaAngemon promises to show his old friend the power of hope is stronger than the power of darkness.
