The DigiDestined approach the Cloud Continent, led by the rays of a lighthouse. Izzy updates them on Tokyo's current status when their connection cuts out. They are now close enough to see that the lighthouse is actually a fortress, which begins to snipe them. Barely making it to land, they are met by a force of Tankmon, while Solarmon act as the lights of the lighthouse as well as the spotters for the Gorillamon sniper. In dire straits, Matt and his partner Gabumon rescue them, after which they hide away in a cave and update each other on the fortress's defenses. Matt decides to infiltrate the fortress alone, leaving the others to hide and rest.
Joe tries to surrender but is forcibly saved by Palmon when they show him no mercy. Seeing Joe act makes Tai realize that he wants to act too, so he decides to charge in and draw heat away from Matt, with Agumon, Sora, and Biyomon following. The others also unintentionally expose themselves, drawing the attention of the Tankmon contingent and allowing the advance party access to the fortress's gate. The gate opens to reveal a DarkTyrannomon gatekeeper, but Birdramon draws it away. Greymon distracts Gorillamon, allowing Garurumon free access. In doing so, Matt gets a bird's-eye view of the battle, how the people who he wrote off are now helping him in turn; these emotions cause the Crest of Friendship to light up on his Digivice: and empower him and Garurumon. They are able to deal easily deal with Gorillamon, allowing the others free rein to take out their attackers. Matt apologizes for brushing them off.
The DigiDestined discover what appears to be a data center. They find a fractured monolith with DigiCode that is about the Celestial Digimon.
