Tiger and Dragon[]
Torajirō and his father have names based on tiger and dragon. Is there any specific meaning to these two animals besides the fact they are part of Japanese culture? The best I could find was Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon, but that movie is set in China, not Japan.
- I can't think of anything. The national animal of Japan is a pheasant, not a tiger or dragon. The animals in the Momotarō legend are a dog, a monkey, and a pheasant. The only thing that comes to my mind is the Chinese zodiac, which again is not Japanese, and the fact that among the Four Symbols, the Azure Dragon and White Tiger symbolize opposing seasons, spring and autumn, but that doesn't seem connected to the characters designs.
