- Yeah...but it's not in common use of name.
- That's not really relevant, though. His "nickname" would just be Thomas—it's not like Sora is constantly called "Ms. Takenouchi", or anything like that, so the "common name" is already dealt with. - Coincidently, I also looked this on Weblio today, and they also gave me "Thoma". The Digimon Masters website also uses this romanization. I didn't notice they used "Thoma" instead of "Tohma" the last time I saw that page, I think I've read too fast. Also, according to both Toei and Masters, his family name is "Norshtein", do the trading cards spell it as "Norstein"? Anime... PAAWAA!!! 19:32, October 10, 2012 (UTC)

- it's notable that Thoma isn't even an incorrect translation/romanisation. this guy in trails of cold steel uses the same トーマ and is translated as Thoma there. "Norshtein" is defo painful though.Marcusbwfc (talk) 15:25, 21 May 2021 (UTC)
- It's not an issue of being incorrect or not, it's about confirming a romanization. I mean, that website was clearly machine translated, it can't even spell Cher Watanabe's name correctly, and renders Osamu Masaki's pseudonym as Dainamaito Shu. And there's also the inconsistency between Western order for character names and Japanese order for everyone else. Machine translation is the exact reason we don't use Cota and Euge, so why are we trusting this one page now? You can see above that we didn't trust the English Savers site 9 years ago. Anime... - It was never ignored, it was just listed as an "alt" name. So we were already counting it as an official name. I simply asked why we were treating it as an alt name when Wikimon is using it as the primary name on discord and pretty much got that we would have to switch to using it as it's an official romanisation (policy changes since 2012, and no one had noticed till now, I guess) but that if we can get proof of any other romanisation we can go with that instead. so if you can find those trading cards like you mentioned then I suppose it's fair. I do think "Thoma" is the more likely naming scheme they'd go with since he's Austrian in the first place. we also can't actually prove it's machine translated just cuz of dumb ass romanisations otherwise we could throw out the entire reference book with how stupid their spellings have been recently. the chronicle website itself stated in the top corner it uses machine translation, which is why Coaoter and Euege were ignored.Marcusbwfc (talk) 18:40, 22 May 2021 (UTC)

- Actually, Tohma was born in Japan and lived there until his mother died. Only then he went to Austria. We see from the series that he was originally so distant from the Norstein family that his grandmother didn't even consider him a real Norstein. It seems like his parents weren't ever married (I think there was a source saying so, but I don't remember for sure). And Tohma is also a Japanese name.
- I don't know where to even look for the trading cards because I don't know if the set has a name. I don't even remember how I found Rhythm's. Maybe it was a link at With the Will, but I don't even know what section to look for a possible post from 7 years ago. Anime... PAAWAA!!! 21:25, 22 May 2021 (UTC)
