Revision as of 02:03, 27 May 2020

I hope that Meicrackmon (Not Vicious Mode) will appear in Digimon Adventure tri..

Name

Based on ReArise, this is probably going to be dubbed for the first time as "Maycrackmon" when its added to the dub. (surprised RA went with the DWNO name when Links didnt). We have auto dubbing rules from the anime, but just putting that out there.Marcusbwfc (talk) 15:23, March 12, 2020 (UTC)

It was indeed. Based on DW:BASEFORM saying "Any names listed under this policy are unofficial; officially dubbed names take precedence with the use of parsers if necessary.", do we want to rename this to Maycrackmon?Marcusbwfc (talk) 03:33, May 26, 2020 (UTC)
I say no since tri refers to Meicoomon's Perfect stage as Meicrackmon and that would probably take precedence over ReArise. Chimera-gui (talk) 05:22, May 26, 2020 (UTC)

Why? Because a phone game said so? Sorry but I'm invoking the "That's fucking stupid" clause on this.

And I'm of the opinion that using "Omegamon Zwart" as an English name is a mistake and we should never have gone with it. Looking at the translations of all of the variants and comparing them with the translation of the original Omegamon in the same games, it's pretty clear that the games are doing exactly what we've been doing for X-Antibody variants: Apply the parser of the variant to whatever name is used for the original base species in that game.

The biggest tell of this is Digimon Masters as Omegamon was originally called Omnimon until April 2017 but it was subsequently reverted to the Japanese name with all the variants only being added to the global server after this revision.

This means that if the original Meicrackmon was in Links, it would have used its original Japanese name and not "Maycrackmon" just as Vicious Mode did. I say tri has priority since it treats "Meicrackmon" as the base name by omitting the "Vicious Mode" parser. Chimera-gui (talk) 01:57, May 27, 2020 (UTC)
