ancient Digital World

• Pharaohmon: It is said that it evolved from Mummy Digimon, and it boasted absolute power in the ancient Digital World, ruling many areas. As for the mysterious ancient ruins that dot the Digital World, many Digimon were under Pharaohmon's control at the Genesis of the Digital World, and from these places which are said to have been raised in just a few days, that control can be perceived.
• Lucemon: Said to have descended to the ancient Digital World long ago, it is an Angel Digimon which has the appearance of a child. It manifested in an era in which the Digital World was still chaotic, and it it is said that it brought about order and harmony. However, because of a later "Rebellion" against Lucemon, it summoned a long period of darkness.
• Paladin Mode: As the final, strongest form of Imperialdramon that was told of since ancient times, it descended in a time of great disruption in the ancient Digital World, and rescued the world from complete collapse. However, all of the details of that era are a mystery, and if research into Digimon and the Digital World progresses, it is likely that they will eventually be clarified.
• Orochimon: A gigantic Demon Dragon Digimon which possesses eight heads. However, while there are eight heads, seven of them are dummies, and the black head in the middle is the only real one. The roots of Orochimon's creation are old, and even in the ancient Digital World its menace was a thing immemorial, but although it was a being that could drive an Area to the very brink of destruction, it was sealed due to the tamer of a "being" which sought to preserve the harmony of the Digital World.
• Shakkoumon: A Mutant Digimon which Jogress-evolved from Ankylomon and Angemon. It possesses white wings on its body, which shines silver, and according to one theory it is an Angel Digimon which descended to the ancient Digital World. It can rotate its neck and torso 360°, allowing it to attack facing every direction.
• UlforceV-dramon: A Holy Knight Digimon based on a legend that only appears within a certain "Prophecy", handed down from the ancient Digital World. In that "Prophecy" is written the appearance of the "Royal Knights", the guardian deities of the Network, and based on the "Prophecy", it is said that the Digimon that are called the "Royal Knights" will assemble at the time of the Digital World's greatest crisis.
• Baromon: “勇気のデジメンタル”のパワーによって進化したアーマー体の魔人型デジモン。忘れ去られた密林の寺院の遺跡(データベース)を守る守護神でもある。バロモンは旧世代のデジモンの生き残りと言われており､現在のデジモンたちにはないロストテクノロジーの能力をいくつか持っている。額の第3の目もその1つであり､額の目は未来を見通すことができると言われ､古代デジタルワールドの崩壊時にも生き延びることができたと伝えられている｡

Why are we adding sections for places that don't appear on the anime? If it's because there's no other article for them, why don't we create a "Digital World (Bandai)" for places that don't appear in any media? Or maybe we should reformulate Digital World into a page that lists the areas of the Digital World, with links for the various anime and manga Digital Worlds. Anime... Nearly all of the named places in the profiles and Bandai junk also appear in Adventure or the materials that it crosses over with, like Adventure V-Tamer 01, or Digimon World 1, etc. Splitting the profile-based info into a separate page would result in a crapton of disambigs for very stubby topics that are virtually identical, soooo...yeah.

Eh, there are barely any times the profiles mention an area that isn't explicitly part in the adventure materials, and they're usually tied into areas that are. Royal Base and the Kernel are probably the only ones, and it seems simpler just to cover all of those on the Adventure page. Well, it's true that they must be in some Digital World, but what if it's not any already depicted Digital World?

Thinking at it, File Island is present in Adventure, V-Tamer, Digimon World, and will be present in Re:Digitize, and is also mentioned in some Digimon profiles, if I remember well.

Considering all of this, I think it's more likely that Bandai has it's standard Digital World, with most anime using alternate Digital Worlds, and that V-Tamer, Adventure, DW, and Re:Digitizes Digital Worlds being based on this standard Digital World (which might or not be the central Digital World in the multiverse, but this is improbable and a mere speculation). Right, and there is such an extreme amount of overlap with the various materials in the Adventure universe (Adventure, Adventure 02, Adventure V-Tamer 01, Digimon World 1, Digital Card Battle, the Tamer series, several of the other games) that it would be extremely redundant to separate those that appear in the dictionary profiles from those that appear in works that are explicitly Adventure. The Digital World is clearly the same one whether or not the DigiDestined actually appear (though whether or not it is the same timeline is another matter).

You've got to remember, we have several incompatible variants on the Frontier, X-Antibody, and even Xros Wars Digital Worlds. However, the layout is the same, so we cover them together and mention which ones appear in which specific works (or, we intend to). Because Adventure and V-Tamer are explicitly portrayed as separate universes and I think we shouldn't list this as "Digital World (Adventure)" when there are other universes besides the Adventure one that have different versions of the same locations. Dark Ocean

The Dark Ocean is a space within which everything is hued with dark colors and tones and tainted with evil powers. It is little known and has only been featured or mentioned in Digimon Adventure 02 a few times.

Its origin is unknown but maybe it was a part of the Digital World, mostly the Net Ocean, which was detached and insulated from its original homeworld and eventually transformed into a dimension of its own.

Its waterways are home to Scubamon and they are servants to the ruler of the Dark Ocean Dragomon, which they refer to as "Undersea Master" or "Dark Undersea Master". Dragomon (Adventure) has only appeared in the series at a cameo and as a being covered in shadows far in the distance.

It is implied it is related to negative emotions and feelings and those that are overwhelmed or hard-pressed due to these tend to fall or be attracted towards the Dark Ocean and, if not able to free itself, imprisoned inside its own interior darkness, amplified by the intense dark power contained within the dimension. Such process causes immense suffering and mental struggle to the one/ones affected.

It can also act as a place of virtually inescapable imprisonment as the mighty Daemon, one of the Seven Great Demon Lords, was confined within it through the combined efforts of the DigiDestined and the power of their Digimon: Imperialdramon Fighter Mode (Adventure), Silphymon (Adventure) and Shakkoumon (Adventure), despite being able to open gates to the Digital World and Earth.

It is also hinted that it is only one of several dimensions unknown to the protagonists and that, if the spaces between them are torn apart and the dimensions merge, a single dark dimension would exist. It would likely be somewhat similar to the Dark Ocean.

Net Ocean

The Net Ocean is the vast saltwater body that covers most of the Digital World´s surface and accounts for much of its data.

It is believed that some of the first digital lifeforms evolved within it in the shape of beings that were perhaps somewhat similar to Poyomon, which is considered a "missing link" and key in the understanding of the origin of Digimon. These pioneers then gave rise to subsequent, more complex digital creatures that eventually became true, fully-fledged Digimon.

The Net Ocean is also the closest domain to the Digital World´s dark realm and prison, the Dark Area, which is located just beneath it.

A distinct space, the Dark Ocean may be associated in some ways to the Net Ocean and perhaps even once a part of it that became corrupted and tinted dark that, at some point, was severed and isolated from the rest of the Digital World and became its own dimension.

Though most of the time it is a calm and predictable place, at times it is partly or entirely governed by extremely powerful Digimon such as MetalSeadramon (Adventure), belonging to the Dark Masters; AncientMermaimon, of the Ten Legendary Warriors; Neptunmon, a member of the Olympos XII; Leviamon, one of the Seven Great Demon Lords and Splashmon, which belongs to the Big Death-Stars.

Most members of the Digimon field called Deep Savers is comprised of its dwellers.

It is probably the most inhabited area in the Digital World but, due to its huge size, it is sparsely populated and most of its residents are separated by vast distances, though congregations of one or several species of Digimon are known to occur.

Net Ocean notes

• Ancient Mermaimon: An Ultimate who existed only in the distant past, it is a guardian goddess of the birthplace of Digimon, the "Net Ocean". It rules the whole of the far-reaching "Net Ocean", and is able to handle all water, such as the ocean currents and tidal waves, as if they were its own limbs.
• Ganimon: A Crustacean Digimon that stuck the metal data dissolved in the Net Ocean to its body, rapidly enhancing its combat ability.
• Giga Seadramon: In order to further expand its sphere of influence, a crack team constructed this extra-large Digimon in absolute secrecy and endowed it with the ability to control the sea and possession of a cruising range which covers the vast Net Ocean. Its overall length exceeds even that of Whamon, and since Digimon belonging to the crack team, such as Chaosdramon, can be loaded in its interior, it is no longer a single Digimon, and it is even possible to say that it is an assault landing ship that doesn't understand when and where on the Net Ocean it will surface, or whether to commence its attacks.
• Marin Angemon: As a Fairy Digimon that inhabits the Net Ocean, its figure can rarely be seen. Although it possesses the name of "Angemon", as far as the ecosystem is concerned, the Angemon-species is actually a different family.
• Leviamon: This extensive monster, said to possess gigantic jaws which could guzzle even the Digital World, is reported to sleep in the depths of the Net Ocean nearest to the Dark Area, and if it is awakened, it will despise any Digimon at the top, and will flee even Angel Digimon, much less other Demon Lord Digimon.
• Octmon: It has a nasty habit of collecting things; the tips of its tentacles are affixed with claws obtained from a Devidramon's data, and it is clad throughout with Digi-Treasure which it gathered from the bottom of the Net Ocean.
• Pitchmon: As a microorganism-like Digimon which was discovered in the "Net Ocean", which has previously been studied as the place where life was born within the Digital World, it has the smallest size among a great number of Digimon.
• Seadramon: Naturally, it doesn't have intelligence or speech, and it swims around the Net Ocean leisurely according to its instincts.

• Phascomon: A Demon Beast Digimon which inhabits the dark "Evil Forest" that is spread vast across the Dark Area.
• Meramon: As a Digimon which was generated from the defensive "Firewall" that protects things like the Internet from illegal entries, it possesses a violent temperament like the flames that wrap its body, and tries to incinerate everything it touches.
• Meramon: It has stronger fire power than the same species on File Island, and taming this Digimon is very difficult, and as a result, even if it's tamed you won't know when it will bare its fangs.

Yatagaramon

• Although its jet-black body presents an evil image to those who see it, it is told that it is the Digimon who guides the chosen to the "Golden Land" in the eastern Digital World. The eastern Digital World is a region where there are still many mysteries, and it is said that the "Golden Land" is protected by multiple sacred barriers. Although it is said that with Yatagaramon's guidance the barriers will be released, traditionally, only those who surmount the "Threefold Trials" submitted by Yatagaramon will finally arrive at the "Golden Land", and it is told that those who were not able to endure the trials are dispatched to the Dark Area.

Porcupamon

• Although it was not originally a species that inhabited the Dark Area, it was driven off by various species of Digimon, and now it lives in the Dark Area. Its body is covered in a special razor material, and althouth its wickedly-dressed suit is an extreme adaptation, it is thought to be camouflage in order to stay alive in the violent Dark Area.

Coelamon

• When the Computer Network was being repaired after being disrupted by a malicious hacker, this Digimon was discovered in the Net Ocean, and as its body structure is extremely primitive, it has fins that have developed like hands and feet. Based on this fact, it is conjectured that primeval Digimon that originated in the Net Ocean experienced many evolutions and took on terrestrial forms, and increased their numbers into various strains.

I don't see the points of captions that fail to clarify anything on their own. If the text is already doing all the work, the image already has a practical caption in the form of that text. Therefore, most everything but "there is more than one character in this mugshot" and plot synopses shouldn't need captions.

What specifically do they call the Wall of Fire in the Japanese version of the Adventure episode? Could this be the same as the Firewall in Next? Could someone also check whether either of those use the Firewall term from the profiles?

I think the core argument is lunacy based on deliberate misunderstandings of what this article is even about, but I'm putting this here so y'all can see it and decide what you want done about it.

In fairness, it might be time to discuss whether information from the profiles should be treated as archetypal information valid for every reasonably appropriate setting, or if it should be treated as its own disparate setting, with its information corralled appropriately. That discussion would probably require comparing the historical claims we use the profiles for against the profiles that are made by the narrator in the Japanese episodes. Also, whether we'd like to engage in the happy task of treating the Japanese continuity and its names for things as a truly separate continuity from the American dub (i.e., saying "well, this location has this name in the Japanese continuity, but no one knows if it even exists in the American").Now activating Project: SPIDERS EVERYWHERE 21:32, November 3, 2015 (UTC)

In next 0rder, the Village of Beginnings is called フローティア (Flowtia? Floatia?). This month's V Jump specifically calls it "始まりの街「フローティア」" (Village of Beginnings "Floatia"), and previous issues called it "Village of Beginnings". Do we treat it as another Primary Village/File City situation, this time for the Japanese version, or do we consider it a different place altogether, like Jupiter Zone and Bagra Pandæmonium?

Or, due to the implications of this being an actual sequel to World rather than a reboot like Re:Digitize (it has a character who looks like DW's protagonist and whose official art seems to focus on him being some sort of Mugendramon killer, has the same producer as DW, and trailers constantly mention some variation of "Welcome back to Digimon World") do we want to wait until the game is out to see if it's the same universe, and only discuss this if it is confirmed to not be? With the Art Book 1~5 & 20th giving a full map of File Island (here and here), including a chart saying the Island is divided in 6 areas, I think we should split File Island into its own page, because otherwise we'll probably have two many subheaders when listing which locations go into which areas. Also, it's clear by now that File Island is basically the Digital World's Japan in that it'll be what most materials focus on. Why does everything default to this page? this is basically implying that everything takes place in the Adventure Universe's Digital World. Even random unrelated stuff like El Dorado and Jötunheimr. Shoulnd't stuff like this be for the generic Digital World page? When linking to Kernel for unrelated universes, it took to this page and if El Dorado show up in say, the next Story game, links would end up coming to the Adventure page. Or like, the Royal Base has nothing to do with Adventure at all. Or say Jormungandr sends someone to Jötunheimr, the link implies they're now suddenly in Adventure's Digital World. Is that for certain? For instance Server AFAIK has never been portrayed in any official materials outside of Adventure, so that already differentiates it from the generic/Bandai version of the Digital World. Sure there's File Island but we've never gotten direct confirmation that other places like Folder (I don't believe V-Tamer exists in the same continuity as Adventure anyway) or WWW Continents even exist in the Adventure timeline. Honestly I think it'd be better to have a page for Adventure's Digital World just by itself, with links to the various places (e.g Overdell Cemetery) that DO exist in the Bandai world also. V-Tamer is literally called Digimon Adventure V-Tamer 01, so the setting is pretty similar. This page isn't for the Adventure anime timeline, though, as I already specified. It's not the exact same timeline, any more than the manga version of the xros wars world is the same timeline as the anime version. However, the concepts and framework are shared.

Server Continent appears in Masters.

The point is that this is an archetype for the Digital World. It has the Net Ocean, File Island, and various continents named after computing concepts; as opposed to having ten regions based on the elements, various "layers" arranged metaphysically vertically, three terminals based on past, present, and future, or 108 zones each with their own theme. Specific locations may or may not appear in specific continuities, but the basic framework and many locations reappear time and again as intentional references to previous stories, so it would be a huge obstacle to communicating to the reader if we pulled that all apart.Now activating Project: SPIDERS EVERYWHERE 20:12, April 1, 2020 (UTC)
