In the Disc Zone, Christopher has just obtained the Code Crown from the Zone's leader Mercurymon when Blastmon arrives with his invasion force and demands a battle, winner take all. The Fusion Fighters arrive just in time to see the destruction wrought by the two clashing armies. They attempt to intervene with Shoutmon X4K, but Christopher rejects their help, and then their DigiFuse reverts just as Blastmon attacks them. The damage to the Zone separates Blastmon, Shoutmon, Greymon, and MailBirdramon from their allies. As the Digimon are separated, Greymon and MailBirdramon reject Shoutmon's claims to strength as they reveal it was his fault that his DigiFuse failed. Nonetheless, Shoutmon saves them when they almost become more victims to the Zone's instability.
Meanwhile, Christopher rejects Mikey's pleas to save the Zone. In order to win, Blastmon calls in Bulbmon, who easily outclasses the remaining Digimon. When their partners return, Mikey digifuses Shoutmon X4K once more, though he is hampered by both his inability to let loose due to the instability and his own weakness. Unexpectedly, Greymon aids Shoutmon X4K in throwing Bulbmon into the air, which allows him to destroy it. Unfortunately, the Zone's damage reaches critical levels, and Christopher abandons the residents he nominally is supposed to lead, leaving the Fusion Fighters to struggle for a solution.
