Satoru Sakamoto (坂本悟 Sakamoto Satoru?) is a main character in Digimon New Century. His partner is Agumon.
Appearance[]
Description[]
His favorite food is tonkatsu, whilst his least favorite food is nattō. His favorite gift would be a game cassette.[1] He likes Football, and likes to challenge the strong.[2]
He is cheerful and straightforward, and was full of enthusiasm for fighting. Whenever he thinks of something, he will do it immediately, and never give up even if he encounters difficulties. Hungry for victory, he takes the digital competition very seriously and always goes all out. However, the somewhat reckless Satoru is also a "problematic team member" that causes headaches for the captains, and his impulsivity often leads to all sorts of disasters. It can be said that Satoru is the core figure of the entire team. His enthusiasm, impulse, and fearlessness of hardships infect every team member and remind the already-adult captains of their original intentions.[2]
Satoru likes to play football with his partner, Agumon, and use this method to cultivate a tacit understanding with Digimon. Satoru has always admired the heroes who saved the world since he was a child. With such admiration, and his unyielding juvenile spirit, his biggest dream of all time is to get the highest honor in the virtual space - the champion of the Digital Competition.[2]

Name used in Digimon New Century.
Fiction[]
Satoru received a "special gift" when he was young, a very special Digivice, D-ZERO, and was invited to participate in the D-ZERO experiment. Because of this, Satoru succeeded in befriending his partner Digimon, Agumon, and they became each other's partners, growing up and facing the unknown "adventure" together. Speaking of this "special gift", it was given to him by Satoru's uncle, Tetsuya Sakamoto. Tetsuya is no small-time person, he is the top person in charge of the DTF, but Satoru himself has never mentioned it voluntarily. After confirming that the partners had no problems, the D-ZERO passed the final experiment, allowing all children to become partners with Digimon.[2]
Because of his uncle, Satoru often sneaked into the DTF headquarters to play. One time he came across the captain who had just submitted an application for the special operations team, and was subdued by the captain along with Agumon due to misunderstanding. After the misunderstanding was resolved, the two decided to help each other. The captain helped Satoru improve his strength and achieve his goal of becoming a champion of the digital competition. In exchange, Satoru joined the team and became the first team member.[2]
Satoru and Agumon fight alongside the Protagonist when they meet Wu Hai and Lopmon, as well as Youko Aragaki and Lunamon, with the Protagonist and Satoru winning each time.
