Ryugumon is a Mollusk Digimon. It is an elegant Digimon residing in Ryushogu. Its translucent body is constantly shimmering with a faint light that enchants all who see it. Not only is Ryugumon beautiful in appearance, it also possesses advanced combat abilities. The peaceful nature of Ryushogu is thanks to Ryugumon. It is revered as both the palace's master and guardian. It possesses high intelligence and a peaceful disposition. By nature it despises conflict of any sort, but should harm come to Ryushogu, Ryugumon will release all of its mystical power to oppose the threat. Ryugumon can absorb energy through the fins on its tail, or it can share that energy with others. It also bears the responsibility of purifying Ryushogu to its normal state.[1]

Design[]
Ryugumon has bundles of blue and pink cerata resembling those of a blue sea dragon (Glaucus atlanticus), while borrowing the eyes, pink antennae, and long, sinewy body of the giant oarfish (Regalecus glesne). It carries a yagura of the Dragon Palace on its back, and has belts wrapped around the base of its tail.

During Yao Qinglan's duel with Shoto Kazama, Yao digivolves BT19-024: MarineBullmon to BT19-027: Ryugumon then uses its When Digivolving effect to play a lv4 or lower blue Digimon from its digivolutions sources for free and uses it to play BT19-017: Sangomon. Sangomon's On Play effect gets Yao a copy of BT19-092: Wadatsumi Purification, which she uses to send ST18-13: Eaglemon to the bottom of Shoto's deck. She attacks directly with Ryugumon and uses BT19-082: Yao Qinglan's effect to place BT19-023: Huankunmon under it as a digivolution source — who's inherited effect makes it so that Ryugumon's attack target cannot be changed. Later in the duel, Yao activates BT19-002: Puyoyomon's inherited effect under Ryugumon to return Ryugumon to the deck to return ST18-05: Muchomon to Shoto's hand. Before it leaves, she uses Ryugumon's Decode effect to play one of its digivolution sources for free — using it to play Huankunmon.
