Royal Knights

Royal Knights(ロイヤルナイツ 聖騎士)

The Royal Knights are members of a fictional group from the Digimon media franchise. They are a collection of exalted knights whose job is to uphold justice and preserve the network security of the Digital World.

The Royal Knights are portrayed as being the servants of the Digital World's god(s) - Yggdrasil in Digital Monster X-Evolution and Digimon Data Squad, and Lucemon in Digimon Frontier

Appearances

The main appearances of the Royal Knights are in the movie Digital Monster X-Evolution, the anime Digimon Frontier and Digimon Data Squad, and the manhua D-Cyber. Some of the species that are members of the Royal Knights have also appeared as partner Digimon in earlier seasons, but were not members of the Royal Knights.

Dynasmon and Crusadermon

The Royal Knights who appear in Digimon Frontier (Dynasmon and Crusadermon) are servants of the ancient villain Lucemon. The two served Lucemon so that he would grant them access to the human world, which they wished to rule over. Though these two Knights are villains, Baromon explains that at one time "the Royal Knights did fight for justice."

The two Royal Knights were introduced after the defeat of Cherubimon by the Legendary Warriors. They easily defeat the Legendary Warriors, and then leave to collect the fractal code of each area of the Digital World, in order to free Lucemon from the Dark Area. Though the Legendary Warriors attempt to stop the Knights each time, the Knights end up taking each area's fractal code.

The Knights ultimately free Lucemon, who joins them for a brief period. Lucemon sends the pair to finish off the Legendary Warriors, but they are finally defeated by EmperorGreymon and MagnaGarurumon. Instead of helping them, Lucemon takes advantage of their weakened state by absorbing their data so that he can digivolve to his next stage, Lucemon Chaos Mode.

Digimon X-Evolution

The Royal Knights who appear in Digimon X-Evolution (Omnimon, Gallantmon, Magnamon, Alphamon, and Crusadermon) are protectors of the Digital World, and initially serve the super computer Yggdrasil.

During the movie, Yggdrasil's forces are enacting "Project Ark", which is designed to reduce the overload of data by transplanting a small amount of Digimon to a "new Digital World", and allowing the rest to perish with the destruction of the old world. However, this plan is disrupted when some of the abandoned Digimon acquire the X-Antibody, which allows them to survive in the new Digital World. To fix this, Yggdrasil sends the Royal Knights to eliminate the interlopers. Gallantmon opposed this genocide, and is killed for it, which fosters doubt in Omnimon, eventually causing him to help the mysterious Dorumon, who is revealed as Alphamon, the Royal Knights' legendary leader. The pair confronts Yggdrasil, and in the end, Omnimon must save the Digital World by destroying his master.

D-Cyber

Ten thousand years before the events of the story, the "Holy Knights" defeated Dexmon and sealed it away as a Digi-core. Years later, a virus infects the digital world, and only those with the X-Antibody survive. The three surviving Royal Knights make an appearance as allies of the story's Digidestined - Omega of Power (Omnimon X), Duke of Courage (Gallantmon X) and Magna of Micacles (Magnamon X). At the end of the story, Dorumon is revealed to be their lost leader, Alphamon.

Digimon Data Squad

In Digimon Data Squad, the Royal Knights are again Yggdrasil's subordinates. Digimon Data Squad also depicts the largest gathering of Royal Knights, with nine out of thirteen making an appearance.

Before the events of the series, Yggdrasil decides that due to humanity's crimes (most of which are in fact Kurata's doing), it is too dangerous to be allowed to live. Though he is convinced to wait by Dr. Spencer Damon, the imminent collision of the Human and Digital Worlds prompts him to move forward with the plan, and he sends the Knights to eliminate humanity. Before they begin, the Knights encounter and defeat the DATS, but are prevented from finishing them off due to the intervention of the rogue knight Sleipmon (who is revealed to be Rentarou Satsuma's power Kudamon).

The destruction of the human world begins afterwards, starting with a battle between Gallantmon and Sleipmon, which ended with both being sealed in ice. Crusadermon and Duftmon fall in battle, and Craniummon is defeated by the DATS, even though he was using Yggdrasil's power, showing him that his sovereign is not absolute.

Craniummon then goes to the Human World to replace BanchouLeomon, who was holding the two worlds apart. Eventually, the other Knights also decide to defy Yggdrasil, and join Craniummon in holding the two worlds apart. After Yggdrasil is defeated, they thank the humans and return to the Digital World.

Members of the Royal Knights

The group consists of a total of 13 members (two of which are still unknown). In the Digimon back story created by Bandai, the group is said to have been founded by Imperialdramon Paladin Mode - However, he is not actually a member of the group.

All known members of the Royal Knights are Mega level Exalted Knight Digimon, excluding Magnamon who is an Armor Digimon with the power level of a Mega.

Alphamon Alphamon(アルファモン) Level Mega Type Exalted Knight Attribute Vaccine Family Virus Busters Prior forms Grademon DoruGreymon (X-Evolution) Alphamon is the "true leader" of the Royal Knights. With his "Alpha-Gain-Force", an unrivaled power, he is meant to be forever absent from the Royal Knights ranks and has been given the title "Lord of the Empty Seat". Alphamon only appears when the Digital World is in dire crisis. Alphamon's name is a reference to alpha, the first letter of the Greek alphabet. This creates a thematic link with himself and Omnimon, whose Japanese name is Omegamon - effectively, a reference to the concept of the Alpha and Omega. Digital Monster X-Evolution Alphamon is one of the main characters in Digital Monster X-Evolution. In this movie, Alphamon was the former leader of the Royal Knights, and the Mega form of Dorumon. At the end of the movie, he sacrificed himself by impaling both himself and Dexmon with his "Ultimate War Blade King Dragon Sword". Digimon D-Cyber Alphamon is once again the final form of Dorumon, who is Hikaru Ryuuji's Digimon partner. In the manhua's final battle against the ancient Dexmon, he's revealed to actually be Alphamon, the leader of the group known as the Holy Knights, from long ago. Alphamon and OwRyumon DNA Digivolve together to form Alphamon (Ultimate War Blade King Dragon). Alphamon's appearance changes, with feathered wings on his back and OwRyumon becoming his sword, the War Blade. Digimon Data Squad Though he did not have any episode appearances or mentions in the entire series, he did make a small cameo appearance as a silhouette in the second opening, standing along side the other Royal Knights. He is the only one of the revealed Royal Knights that doesn't make an appearance in the series proper. Attacks Digitalize of Soul: Summons a monster from another world that devours his enemies. The attack is also depicted in the form of firing multiple green energy beams from his hands. Holy Sword Gradalpha: Summons his unique weapon, the holy sword of the same name, within an another dimension. Ultimate War Blade King Dragon Sword: Summons and attacks with a massive sword.

Craniummon Craniummon(クレニアムモン) Level Mega Type Exalted Knight Attribute Vaccine Family Virus Busters Craniummon is a large humanoid digimon with a skull-like helmet. He wields a double bladed spear called Claíomh Solais and a shield named Avalon. His name comes from the word cranium, the human skull. This is probably a reference to the fact that Craniummon's head is shaped like a skull. Digimon Data Squad In Digimon Data Squad, Craniummon is the closest Royal Knight to Yggdrasil, and carries out his orders without question. It is revealed that long before the events of the series, he was defeated in battle by Suguru Daimon and BanchouLeomon, prior to their encounter with Yggdrasil. Shortly after Belphemon is defeated, Craniummon listens to Yggdrasil's arguments for humanity's destruction, and agrees with his master's decision. He was the first Royal Knight to face the members of DATS in battle, and he overpowers them until Masaru activates Burst Evolution, digivolving ShineGreymon into ShineGreymon Burst Mode. The tide of the battle turns, but is halted by the arrival of Gallantmon and the other Royal Knights, who defeat the DATS in one attack. Yggdrasil then arrives and commands the Royal Knights to destroy the DATS, but they are interrupted by Sleipmon, who escapes to the Human World with the DATS. Craniummon battles the DATS members again, this time with the impenetrable shield Avalon given to him by Yggdrasil. However, the power of all of the DATS' Burst Modes is able to shatter the shield, convincing Craniummon that Yggdrasil's power is not absolute. Craniummon forfeits the battle, and allows the DATS to face Yggdrasil. He later travels to Mt. Fuji and replaces BanchouLeomon in holding the Digital and human worlds apart. He struggled with this task until Yggdrasil's arrival at Mt. Fuji, when he is joined by the other Knights, and they learn of Yggdrasil's real plan. The other Royal Knights then join Craniummon in holding the two worlds apart, since he is weakening against Yggdrasil's attacks, while the DATS fend off Yggdrasil. After Yggdrasil is defeated, the Royal Knights head back to the Digital World. Attacks End Waltz: Rotates both himself and his Claíomh Solais spear, creating a destructive shockwave around him. God Breath: Uses his shield "Avalon" to protect himself from attacks in any direction. In official settings, the defense is absolute due to the aid of Yggdrasil, but only lasts 3 seconds.

Crusadermon Crusadermon(ロードナイトモン RhodoKnightmon) Level Mega Type Exalted Knight Attribute Virus Family Virus Busters Prior forms Knightmon Crusadermon despite being a member of the Royal Knights, displays a merciless and cruel nature to the weak, using a self-defined sense of justice as an excuse for injustice. Crusadermon is known as the "indifferent warrior" and is commonly seen carrying a rose. Crusadermon's name is taken from crusader, which is a term for a warrior who took part in the Crusades, or a more generic term for anyone who fights for a cause. His Japanese name, RhodoKnightmon, is a pun on "Lord Knight" and rhodonite. LordKnightmon is also used as an alternate English name in the English version of Digimon World 4, as well in the Digimon Collectible Card Game. Digimon Frontier Crusadermon, along with Dynasmon, is a major villain in Digimon Frontier. Following the defeat of Cherubimon, Crusadermon and Dynasmon began the accumulation of Fractal Code data for Lucemon in exchange for entry into the human world. In their first clash with the Legendary Warriors, Crusadermon easily overpowered MagnaGarurumon. The two would fight numerous times as the Legendary Warriors tried to stop the Royal Knights from stealing the data of the Digital World. On a few occasions, Crusadermon also employed several Knightmon. When Lucemon was finally reborn and the Legendary Warriors were forced to retreat to the Ophanimoon (one of the Digital World's three moons), Crusadermon pleaded for Lucemon to give them the key to the human world, a request which Lucemon denied. When Lucemon sent the Knights to finally take care of the human children, the two were struck down and their own Fractal Codes exposed. In the end, Lucemon betrayed the two knights and absorbed their data in order to digivolve into Lucemon Chaos Mode. Digital Monster X-Evolution Crusadermon makes a cameo in Digital Monster X-Evolution as one of the Royal Knights serving Yggdrasil - Crusadermon's voice can be heard in a scene with Magnamon, Omnimon and Gallantmon. Digimon Data Squad Crusadermon is introduced when the DATS first encountered the Royal Knights and Yggdrasil. The Royal Knights are ordered by Yggdrasil to destroy the DATS, but were interrupted by the sudden appearance of Sleipmon, who carried the DATS away. Crusadermon also participated in the attack on the human world, commanding an army of Knightmon. When Touma H. Norstein and MirageGaogamon held back an attack on an airport, Crusadermon appeared personally and overwhelmed both them and Hiroshi Yushima's partner, Shaujinmon. It was only when Touma activated MirageGaogamon's digivolution to Burst Mode that Crusadermon was defeated. The Knight reverted to a Digi-Egg, which was pulled back into the Digital World. Attacks Fist of Athena (Argent Fear): Does a powerfully explosive punch with the arm on which the Pile Bunker is mounted. Spiral Masquerade: Speeds around his enemy, slicing them with the ribbons on his armor. Laser Lattice : Creates an energy net that projects out from the palm. Scarlet Tempest : Uses the rose he carries to create a whirlwind of rose petals

Duftmon Duftmon(ドゥフトモン) Level Mega Type Exalted Knight Attribute Data Family Nature Spirits Duftmon is a Royal Knight with a helmet that resembles a black leopard's face, wings, and a rapier named Aussterben. He is the leading strategist among the Royal Knights, who believes power means justice. He has the ability to command even the most stubborn of members. He is able to mode change into a second form called Duftmon Leopard Mode, though he did not transform in Data Squad. Duftmon's name comes from the German word for fragrance. Digimon Data Squad During Yggdrasil's campaign to destroy the human world, Duftmon presented himself to Yggdrasil, and was allowed to join the battle. Duftmon then appeared in Japan, and attacked Yoshino Fujieda, Ikuto Noguchi, and their partners, Rosemon and Ravemon. During the battle, Duftmon gave his opponents an insight to the Royal Knights' sense of justice, stating that saving the Digital World was a task worthy of even sacrificing its own inhabitants. Determined to save Masaru Daimon's family, Yoshino and Ikuto empowered their partners into Rosemon Burst Mode and Ravemon Burst Mode, respectively. The two digimon then defeated Duftmon. Attacks Aussterben (Extinction): Creates a high charged destructive shock wave from his rapier which destroys everything in its path. Ernste Wehr (Earnest Resistance): Charges a dark aura around his rapier and lashes an energy blast towards the enemy.

Dynasmon Dynasmon(デュナスモン) Level Mega Type Exalted Knight Attribute Data Family Virus Busters Prior forms Silphymon Dynasmon is a winged draconic Digimon who wears Chrome-Digizoid body-armor. Among the Royal Knights, he is known for possessing the greatest physical strength, as well as amazing defense and tremendous speed due to his ability to fly. Furthermore, he is able to absorb the attacks of his opponents in order to empower his own, practically making him an unstoppable juggernaut. He is very chivalrous and follows the code of bushido, valuing justice above all else. As such, he will swear loyalty to one who he senses as also being dedicated to justice, even if they are evil. Digimon Frontier Dynasmon, along with Crusadermon, is a major villain in Digimon Frontier. Following the defeat of Cherubimon, Crusadermon and Dynasmon began the accumulation of Fractal Code data, all for the purpose of reviving Lucemon, in exchange for being allowed the opportunity to gain the key to entering the human world. In the two Knights' first encounter with the Legendary Warriors, he soundly defeated EmperorGreymon, who would prove to be his usual opponent in the battles that followed. When Lucemon was finally revived, the two Knights fought the Legendary Warriors again, and were both defeated. Their master then betrayed them, absorbing their data and using it to digivolve into Lucemon Chaos Mode. Digimon Data Squad Dynasmon is introduced when the DATS first encountered the Royal Knights and Yggdrasil. The Royal Knights are ordered by Yggdrasil to destroy the DATS, but were interrupted by the sudden appearance of Sleipmon, who carried the DATS away. Later, Dynasmon was seen attacking New York City along with the Royal Knights' army of Knightmon. He had a short conversation with Magnamon about Craniummon's battle with DATS, but remained confident of victory. When Yggdrasil heads to Mt. Fuji to destroy the Human World, the Royal Knights follow and join in questioning their master's sovereignty , resulting in Yggdrasil's imperfection being revealed. The other Royal Knights then join Craniummon in holding the two worlds apart, since he is weakening against Yggdrasil's attacks, while the DATS fend off Yggdrasil. After Yggdrasil is defeated, the Royal Knights head back to the Digital World. Attacks Breath of Wyvern: Unleashes his destructive energy aura from the mouth, which takes the form of a massive dragon. DNA Disintegrator/Dragon Thrower (Dragon's Roar): A powerful blast attack shot from the gems on his palms, sometimes taking the shape of a double helix.

Examon Examon is a member of the Royal Knights. He resembles a dragon with giant red and black wings, making him look more beast-like, like Sleipmon. He has not appeared in any digimon media yet other than card games. He is the DNA digivolved form of Breakdramon and Slayerdramon. For the Gallantmon featured in Digimon Tamers, see Guilmon Digital Monster X-Evolution In Digital Monster X-Evolution, Gallantmon is a member of the Royal Knights who questioned the intentions of the host computer, Yggdrasil. Because of this, Gallantmon acted individually, and tried to convince his close friend Omnimon that they were just being used and that their Lord Yggdrasil's Project Ark was more than it seemed. However, Omnimon refused to listen, and killed Gallantmon in a duel. Gallantmon was soon reborn as Gallantmon X, with the X-Antibody. Digimon Data Squad Gallantmon is introduced when the DATS first encountered the Royal Knights and Yggdrasil. The Royal Knights are ordered by Yggdrasil to destroy the DATS, but were interrupted by the sudden appearance of Sleipmon, who carried the DATS away. Gallantmon pursues and easily defeats the DATS team, and is about to finish them off, when Sleipmon intervenes. A brief scuffle ensues and is ended by Sleipmon using Odin's Breath to freeze both of them in a giant block of ice. Gallantmon attempts to prevent this, but fails, and they fall into the sea alive but incapacitated. In the last few episodes, Gallantmon and Kudamon join the other Knights at Mt. Fuji as Gallantmon explains that he understands why Sleipmon had left them, and that Sleipmon had used his DigiSoul to free the two of them. The Knights then question their master's sovereignty, resulting in Yggdrasil's imperfection being revealed. Gallantmon attempts to attack Yggdrasil, but is thrown back. Craniummon weakens due to Yggdrasil's attacks, so the other Royal Knights join him in holding the two worlds apart while the DATS fend off Yggdrasil. After Yggdrasil is defeated, the Royal Knights return to the Digital World. Attacks Lightning Joust (Royal Saber/Royal Joust): Attacks the opponent with his Gram Lance. Shield of the Just (Final Elysium/Elysium Blaster): Fires an energy beam from his Aegis Shield.

Magnamon Magnamon(マグナモン) Level Armor Type Exalted Knight Attribute Vaccine Family Metal Empire Prior forms Veemon This section features the Magnamon from Digital Monster X-Evolution and Digimon Data Squad. For the Magnamon featured in Digimon Adventure 02, see Magnamon Digital Monster X-Evolution Magnamon remains fiercely loyal to Yggdrasil throughout the movie, and captures Dorugamon and brings him to Yggdrasil. When Alphamon and Omnimon go to stop Yggdrasil, Magnamon professes that he still believes in their leader, but does nothing to stop them. Digimon Data Squad Magnamon is introduced when the DATS first encountered the Royal Knights and Yggdrasil. The Royal Knights are ordered by Yggdrasil to destroy the DATS, but were interrupted by the sudden appearance of Sleipmon, who carried the DATS away. Magnamon is later seen in a conversation with Dynasmon. When Yggdrasil heads to Mt. Fuji to destroy the Human World, the Royal Knights follow and question their masters sovereignty, resulting in Yggdrasil's imperfection being revealed. The other Royal Knights then join Craniummon in holding the two worlds apart, since he is weakening against Yggdrasil's attacks, while the DATS fend off Yggdrasil. After Yggdrasil is defeated, the Royal Knights head back to the Digital World. Attacks Magna Blast (Plasma Shoot): Shoots multiple large energy beams from his body. Magna Explosion (Extreme Jihad): Unleashes a large energy wave from his body. Magna Punch: He strikes with a powerful punch. Magna Kick: He strikes with a powerful kick.

Omnimon Omnimon(オメガモン Omegamon) Level Mega Type Exalted Knight Attribute Vaccine Family Metal Empire Virus Busters Prior forms WarGreymon + MetalGarurumon [[Category:Metal Empire Virus Busters family]] This section features the Omnimon from Digital Monster X-Evolution and Digimon Data Squad. Other Omnimon were featured in V-Tamer 01, Adventure, and Tamers. Digital Monster X-Evolution Omnimon appeared in Digital Monster X-Evolution, as the leader of the Royal Knights during Alphamon's absence. He is loyal to Yggdrasil, and initially carries out Project Ark to the letter. When Gallantmon confronted Omnimon about Yggdrasil, Omnimon was unwilling to disobey Yggdrasil and ended up duelling and killing Gallantmon. Shaken by his friend's death, Omnimon began to question Yggdrasil's sovereignty. It was only when Alphamon saves Omnimon's life by giving him the X-Antibody that Omnimon leaves Yggdrasil. He transforms into Omnimon X and destroys Yggdrasil with his All Delete, which resets the Digital World as a result. Digimon Data Squad Omnimon is introduced when the DATS first encountered the Royal Knights and Yggdrasil. The Royal Knights are ordered by Yggdrasil to destroy the DATS, but were interrupted by the sudden appearance of Sleipmon, who carried the DATS away. Omnimon is later seen attacking a city in the Human World, and briefly reappears when Yggdrasil is expelled from Suguru's body. When Yggdrasil heads to Mt. Fuji to destroy the Human World, the Royal Knights follow and question their master, resulting in Yggdrasil's imperfection being revealed. The other Royal Knights then join Craniummon in holding the two worlds apart, since he is weakening against Yggdrasil's attacks, while the DATS fend off Yggdrasil. After Yggdrasil is defeated, the Royal Knights head back to the Digital World. Attacks Transcendent Sword (Grey Sword): Slashes at the enemy with the Grey Sword. The sword may also emit flame from its edges. Supreme Cannon (Garuru Cannon): Fires colossal energy balls at foes. The Cannon may also be fired as ice energy, in blast form or beam form. All Delete: The Digicode on the Grey Sword emits light, which annihilates the area. Omnimon used this to reset the Digital World in Digital Monster X-Evolution.

Sleipmon Sleipmon(スレイプモン) Level Mega Type Exalted Knight Attribute Vaccine Family Virus Busters Prior forms Qilinmon Sleipmon is based on Sleipnir, (Odin's steed), but is centaur-like, with one pair of limbs as arms instead of legs. He holds the crossbow Muspelheim in his left hand and the shield Niflheim in the right. His body is covered in Red Digizoid armor, the armor with the greatest defense. Sleipmon protects ancient ruins located below the thick ice in the Digital World's Arctic area because the program data that influences the creation of Digimon is sealed within. Digimon Data Squad Sleipmon makes his first anime appearance in Digimon Data Squad. When the Royal Knights were about to destroy the DATS, Sleipmon intervenes and flies the DATS back to the human world. However, he is heavily damaged, and reverts back to Kudamon, Satsuma's partner. Satsuma reveals that Kudamon had been a spy sent by Yggdrasil to observe the humans and to determine whether they were worthy to live, but had defected after confirming this value. As Gallantmon is about to destroy the DATS, Kudamon digivolves to Sleipmon and again intervenes by attacking Gallantmon. Gallantmon criticizes Sleipmon's defection, and Sleipmon counters that he has confirmed humanity's worthiness. Sleipmon then uses Odin's Breath to freeze both of them into a large block of ice, and despite Gallantmon's attempts to prevent this, they are frozen and fall into the sea. According to Gallantmon, Sleipmon took this time to fully explain to Gallantmon why he had sided with the humans, and then used his DigiSoul to destroy the ice, reverting to Kudamon in the process. As Kudamon, he accompanies Gallantmon to Mt. Fuji. Attacks Bifrost: Fires a burning arrow from Muspelheim, the holy crossbow on his left hand. Odin's Breath: Creates a high power blizzard from Niflheim, the holy shield on his right hand.

UlforceVeedramon UlforceVeedramon(アルフォースブイドラモン) Level Mega Type Exalted Knight Attribute Vaccine Family Nature Spirits Wind Guardians Virus Busters Prior forms AeroVeedramon [[Category:Nature Spirits Wind Guardians Virus Busters family]] This section features the UlforceVeedramon from Digimon Data Squad. Another UlforceVeedramon was featured in V-Tamer 01. UlforceVeedramon is the fastest of the Royal Knights, and his speed is close to that of Merukimon of the Olympus Twelve. He wears armor made of Blue Digizoid, making it light and manoeuvrable. His shining sword and shield can be expanded from the V-Bracelets that are equipped on his arms. Digimon Data Squad UlForceVeedramon is introduced when the DATS first encountered the Royal Knights and Yggdrasil. The Royal Knights are ordered by Yggdrasil to destroy the DATS, but were interrupted by the sudden appearance of Sleipmon, who carried the DATS away. He is also seen attacking Egypt, and makes a brief appearance when Yggdrasil is expelled from Suguru's body. When Yggdrasil heads to Mt. Fuji to destroy the Human World, the Royal Knights follow and question their master's sovereignty, resulting in Yggdrasil's imperfection being revealed. The other Royal Knights then join Craniummon in holding the two worlds apart, since he is weakening against Yggdrasil's attacks, while the DATS fend off Yggdrasil. After Yggdrasil is defeated, the Royal Knights head back to the Digital World. Attacks Ray of Victory (Shining V Force): Fires a beam from the V-shaped armor on his chest. Victory Sword (Ulforce Saber): An attack using the saber that extends from his right V-Bracelet. Tense Great Shield: Releases holy aura from his left V-Bracelet which becomes a barrier.
