Synopsis
The DigiDestined and Matt, Joe, and Izzy keep an eye on Oikawa and the kids. Then the kids with the dark spore appear at Highton View terrace along with Oikawa, Mummymon, and Arukenimon. Ken then asks why he was chosen to hold the dark spore and to be the Digimon Emperor, Oikawa says the his sadness was easy to manipulate and the "Dark towers" (Control Spire) were used to change the borders of the digital world, weakening it, so that he can enter it himself. The kids and Oikawa then start singing a very weird song as the Digital Gate opens. The new kids rush into the gate as it closes. But are they in the Digi-World? They seem to be in a world where their desire comes true. A big mouth resembling a vampire appears and reveals that he possessed Oikawa four years ago (when Hiroki died), in a Flashback he had a picture of Hiroki to the Sky and crying out, a mist appeared, and he saw Tai, Koromon, Tsunomon, Motimon, Izzy, Matt, Sora, Yokomon, T.K., Kari, Tokomon, Salamon, Gomamon, Mimi, Palmon and Joe return to the digital world, he wanted to go with them and shouted out but they didn't hear because he far away in the Harbor, (due to the Dark Masters battles), (when the original Digidestined returned to battle the Dark Masters) as he was in need of a host. He turns out to be Myotismon. Myotismon separates from Oikawa in an identical form to him, harvests the kids' Dark Spores, and is reborn as MaloMyotismon. MaloMyotismon tortures and kills Arukenimon. Mummymon tries to avenge her but he kills him as well. Horrified the kids stay where they are until Davis and Ex-Veemon enter into the battle!

Other notes
Continuity errors
- The Brazilian dub of this episode doesn't seem able to figure out what MaloMyotismon's name should be. He is "Malon Yotismon" in the episode title, "MaloMyotismon" according to the DigiDestined, "Myotismon" to Gatomon, and "BelialVamdemon" to himself. Even worse, the Digimon Analyzer claims that MaloMyotismon evolved from BelialVamdemon.
- In "The Battle for Earth", the DigiDestined wave goodbye to their parents when going to the Digital World, but in Oikawa's flashback they return to the Digital World without words.
Animation errors
- When Izzy's mother leaves, Gatomon's nose appears to be missing.
- In a shot after Oikawa cries, the purple tip of Gatomon's right ear is colored white.
Dubbing changes
- Originally, the peanut butter and jelly sandwiches that Izzy's mother offered the DigiDestined were riceballs.
- In the dub, Oikawa identifies the children as the DigiDestined when he sees them in his flashback.
- Originally, MaloMyotismon makes no sound when he grabs Arukenimon. In the dub, he viciously growls when he grabs her.
Digimon references
- When opening the gate, Oikawa uses a card method similar to that used by the DigiDestined in the Digimon Adventure episode It's All In The Cards. The only difference here is that, where Tai decided to place the Gomamon card, Oikawa places the Agumon card instead (perhaps under the influence of Myotismon, who's also been seen using the card method. The Gateway To Home This could very well be what causes the gate to lead to another world, rather than BlackWarGreymon's sealing of the gate, which may have had no influence at all.
Miscellaneous trivia
- MaloMyotismon announces the episode title in the Japanese episode.
