Negamon is hiding inside a large back orb in the Network and originally used to exist to bring disasters to make the Digital World evolve from accumulating and learning. The ancient war where Ghoulmon led the Army of Darkness to attack the Army of Light was one such disaster.
In August 2020, Negamon starts its plans for a new disaster by dropping a large amount of Digi-Eggs into the Network, which hatch into a swarm of Fresh Level Argomon and digivolve all the way to the Champion Level. After Omnimon destroys the Mega Level Argomon and redirects the controlled nuclear missile from hitting Tokyo, Negamon drops another Digi-Egg into the Network, this one hatching into Eyesmon Scatter Mode. Negamon's intention is to power his newest disaster using the data flowing through the Network which contains a great deal of the fear and chaos from within the hearts of humans.
It watches as Omnimon later destroys Eyesmon's Mega form, Nidhoggmon, and continues the countdown that stopped after Nidhoggmon's death. Negamon then opens a portal which sucks in the DigiDestined and their partner Digimon, with the exception of Tai Kamiya, Matt Ishida and Omnimon.
Shortly after ZeedMillenniummon's death, Negamon senses the DigiDestined's Crests reacting in the Giant Tree of Information. It sends a swarm of Soundbirdmon into the Digital World to brainwash Burpmon to eat all the data regarding the Great Catastrophe to prevent to the DigiDestined from learning about it. However, the DigiDestined manage to destroy Burpmon and although the data is scattered, Izzy and Garbagemon set to work on recovering it.
Negamon later sends a group of Argomon to test Tai and Agumon in a experiment to test the power of the bond between a DigiDestined and a Partner Digimon. After WarGreymon destroys the other Argomon, the Ultimate Level Argomon states that its master would soon make its move and erase the Digital World from existence through the Great Catastrophe. The Ultimate Argomon then returns to its master in the Network.
After the DigiDestined have discovered the full powers of their Crests, Negamon sends a legion of Soundbirdmon to attack the Giant Tree of Information while the other Soundbirdmon are sent across the Digital World to show the Digimon that the Great Catastrophe is about to begin. During the battle against the DigiDestined, the Soundbirdmon attacking the Giant Tree of Information fuse into Ghoulmon. Ghoulmon is destroyed by Seraphimon and Ophanimon, and Ghoulmon's death also causes all of the other Soundbirdmon to die. But despite that, Negamon is freed from the orb and starts to turn both the Network and the Digital World into a white empty void.
Negamon began sucking the Digital World into its void where all data is obliterated, eventually sucking the DigiDestined in as well. However, they are protected by their Digivices and confronted by the Ultimate Argomon who reveals Negamon's history and true purpose to them. To their horror, Argomon reveals that the data stolen from the Network by the Argomon, Nidhoggmon, and the Zurumon had contained so much inner chaos and fear from human hearts that it had overwritten Negamon's original instinct and corrupted it, making it insatiably hungry and willing to consume everything that exists only for its own satisfaction. As a result, Negamon's new intention is to destroy every existence, not just cause more disasters. Negamon will suck it all into its void where everything will be completely destroyed. The Ultimate Argomon digivolves to Mega to stop the DigiDestined from reaching Negamon, joined by a swarm of Champion Argomon. However, the DigiDestined's partners digivolve to Champion and destroy the Champion Argomon before digivolving to Mega and destroying the Mega Argomon who warns with its last words that it's time for Negamon to consume everything. As the DigiDestined turn their attention ot Negamon, he begins to consume the real world as well.
After breaking the barrier between the Digital and real worlds, Negamon digivolves into Giant Negamon. While the DigiDestined try to destroy Giant Negamon, its real body fuses with the black orb, becoming Abbadomon and Abbadomon Core. Omegamon Alter-S and reformats into a Digi-Egg that vanishes in a streak of white light as Omnimon expresses hope that Negamon will be reborn without being bound to either a good or an evil existence. Omnimon then destroys Abbadomon's area of the Network before the children's Digivices restore the destruction that Negamon has caused.Abbadomon is eventually destroyed by
After being destroyed by Omegamon Alter-S, Abbadomon reformats into a Digi-Egg which then vanishes in a streak of white light.
Negamon (Giant) is the digivolved form of Negamon.
After the DigiDestined destroy the Mega Argomon, Negamon breaks the barrier between the real world and the Digital World, and digivolves into Giant Negamon. After Phoenixmon, HerculesKabuterimon, Rosemon and Vikemon sever the tentacles threatening both worlds, the Giant Negamon starts to emerge from its orb. that is when WarGreymon and MetalGarurumon attack and seemingly destroy Giant Negamon's body. But Kari Kamiya realizes that that they only destroyed Giant Negamon's shell. The Giant Negamon then fuses with the black orb surrounding it, becoming both Abbadomon and Abbadomon Core.
During the battle between Omnimon and Abbadomon Core, Abbadomon Core summons a Giant Negamon and fires it at Omnimon, who blocks it with its shield. Omnimon destroys Giant Negamon, though this was just a distraction so Abbadomon Core could shoot a laser at Omnimon in an attempt to kill him. This fails, however, and the battle continues.
In the Digivice: virtual pet, the Giant Negamon is defeated by the DigiDestined's Partner Digimon.
After the Giant Negamon's shell body is destroyed by WarGreymon and MetalGarurumon, the Giant Negamon fuses with the black orb to become both Abbadomon and Abbadomon Core. Abbadomon's tentacles attack Sora, Phoenixmon, Izzy, HerculesKabuterimon, Mimi, Rosemon, Joe and Vikemon, destroying their physical forms and forcing the four Mega Digimon to revert to their Rookie forms. WarGreymon, MetalGarurumon, Seraphimon and Ophanimon continue their fight against Abbadomon, but Abbadomon nearly destroys Tai, WarGreymon, Matt and MetalGarurumon. Then, people across the real world send their hope of light into the void, restoring the physical forms of the DigiDestined and digivolving their partners back to their Mega forms. They send the energy to T.K., Seraphimon, Kari and Ophanimon, who are rescued from Abbadomon's tentacles by the shades of DanDevimon and SkullKnightmon, and send it forward to WarGreymon and MetalGarurumon, allowing them to DNA digivolve into Omnimon. Omnimon breaks into Abbadomon and flies into the heart of it, ready to end the Great Catastrophe once and for all.
As Omnimon battles Abbadomon Core, it causes the movements of Abbadomon itself to lag. Izzy realizes that all of the evil Digimon's resources being used on the battle inside of the orb and, in the hopes of slowing the inner movements as well, Rosemon, Vikemon, HerculesKabuterimon, Phoenixmon, Seraphimon and Ophanimon continue to battle Abbadomon. Although they are able to destroy several of Abbadomon's tentacles, the Mega Digimon fail to cause any real harm to it. However, the DigiDestined's determination allows Omnimon to Mode Change into Omegamon Alter-S who proves to be more than a match for Abbadomon Core, eventually destroying it before Alter-S Mode Changes back into Omnimon. In Abbadomon's white void, Abbadomon shrinks and reformats into a Digi-Egg that vanishes in a streak of white light while Omnimon destroys Abbadomon's area in the Network.
In the Digivice: virtual pet, Abbadomon is defeated by the DigiDestined's Partner Digimon.
Abbadomon Core is the true form of Negamon existing within the orb body of Abbadomon. The Giant Negamon simultaneously digivolved into both Abbadomon and Abbadomon Core, splitting into two separate Digimon.

Omnimon breaks into Abbadomon and flies into the heart of it, ready to end the Great Catastrophe once and for all.
In the heart of Abbadomon's orb, Omnimon locates Abbadomon Core and engages it in battle. The battle between Omnimon and Abbadomon Core causes Abbadomon to lag from all of the evil Digimon's resources being used on the battle inside of the orb so the DigiDestined resume attacking Abbadomon, hoping that it will slow Abbadomon Core's movements as well. Abbadomon Core eventually overpowers Omnimon, but the DigiDestined's determination allows him to Mode Change into Omegamon Alter-S who proves to be more than a match for Abbadomon Core, eventually slicing it in half. The top half turns into a giant purple cloud with a giant fanged mouth that swallows Alter-S, but he blows this form up from the inside and Mode Changes back into Omnimon. In Abbadomon's white void, Abbadomon shrinks and reformats into a Digi-Egg that vanishes in a streak of white light while Omnimon destroys Abbadomon's area in the Network.
