Minoru Hinata (日向 (ひなた) ミノル Hinata Minoru?) is a main character in Digimon Survive.

Appearance[]

Minoru is a teenage boy with fair skin, brown eyes, and spiky brown hair. He wears a turtlenecked orange jacket with long sleeves and black stripes on the neck. The jacket's sleeves also have a red circle print on it, and a black vertical stripe, which also makes a border around the circle. He also wears grey shorts, black leggings, and black sneakers with green soles.

Description[]

Minoru is Takuma Momozuka's close friend[1] and classmate. He is a stable person that hates getting in arguments. Minoru is talkative, can get along with anyone, is very optimistic[2] and tells a lot of jokes.[3] Minoru's friendliness keeps the group together; however, Minoru is very careless, which often gets him into trouble.[4] Minoru wants to become a brave and powerful hero, like Falcomon.[5]

When he was young, his parents divorced with Minoru living with his mother. He hasn't seen his father in years.

Minoru and Falcomon's relationship is initially more superficial than an actual legitimate bond. When fake versions of their partners try to trick the children, Minoru is able to figure out which is the Falcomon but unlike the others who were able to figure it out due to their bond — Minoru never actually figured it out and simply picked at random, luckily managing to pick the right one. When Falcomon finds this out he becomes enraged. Their relationship worsens after they see Lopmon dark evolve and attack Shuuji, with Minoru now terrified that Falcomon would do the same thing. Falcomon tries his best to tell Minoru that would never happen but Minoru instead follows in Shuuji's footsteps and becomes a bully, insulting his partner. Further upset with Minoru, Falcomon ends their partnership and leaves the group. The Professor tells the group that a dark evolution happens when the Tamer has negative thoughts as the partners evolutions are linked to their humans emotions which has Minoru realize that if Falcomon ever did dark evolve it would be his fault, not Falcomon's. He tries to apologize to Falcomon multiple times but Falcomon refuses to re-join Minoru stating that Minoru only uses him for his power and never actually cared about him. When Garurumon kidnaps Miyuki Minase Minoru tries to join the battle to save her though realizes he can't. Falcomon arrives and agrees to restart the partnership, stating that he was in the wrong too as he had turned him down as he was also scared he would dark evolve and attack Minoru. They both realize they need to find the courage to go on even if there was a chance that would happen with both deciding to trust the other that it would never happen. Their bond then becomes a true one having gone through such an ordeal. These events also happen in the truthful route, where Lopmon doesn't dark evolve, with Minoru instead scared that Falcomon would attack him with dark fog like Lopmon nearly did to Shuuji.

Fiction[]

One day, Minoru was bored then remembered the extracurricular camp was only a few days away. He freaked out, realizing he wasn't prepared for it at all and frantically searched for the pamphlet that had all the information. He went through the list and after seeing he needed water, rations, and a flashlight came to the conclusion they were going to leave the kids out on their own to fend for themselves and that they would have to fight for survival with said items. After being transported to the alternate world, Minoru still had all the stuff he was told to pack which he was grateful for since he was able to use it to help him survive in the alternate world. So although he had come to the wrong conclusion about the teachers throwing them out into the wild in which they would be forced to try and survive, they did end up stranded in the alternate world anyway with the stuff helping him survive.[8]
