Alundra Wiki Edit

Hey, I'm Likeacupcake (as you can obviously see), from the Final Fantasy Wiki. Anyway, I'm an avid fan of Alundra, and noticed that the wiki on the subject is, how should I say this... under developed? Anyway, I was just wondering if you are the current head of the wiki, or if you know how is, as I was hoping to help expand it into a full wiki.

Thanks for your time! (Contact me on this wiki, the FF one, or Alundra one; I'll be hanging around on all three until you reply) Likeacupcake Talk 10:04, February 8, 2011 (UTC)

You'd have to check the episode guide for the exact numbers, but:
  • Koromon: during "Battle with Belphemon!", or preceding episodes. Agumon reverts to egg after the Ruin Mode episode.
  • Puwamon: the ep where Kristy gets Biyomon; the ep after Falcomon brings the egg back to Merukimon. First appearance, egg appears from nowhere for Kristy. Later, Merukimon shown with egg in hand, trying to reformat.
  • Bio Hybrids: When they are defeated, at least for BioMegas (not sure whether BioArmors display eggs)
    • Ivan: Holy City battle (episode with BioStegomon > BioSpinomon)
    • Nanami: Thomas vs. Nanami (episode with BioQuetzalmon > BioRotosmon)
    • Kouki: Marcus vs. Kouki (episode with BioThunderbirmon > BioDarkdramon, might be two parter).

Unfortunately, the smart a** we call Mr. SmartyMax removed it, along with the other quotes I put in. --Tentomon22 (talk) 15:02, March 21, 2013 (UTC)

Oh, I didn't realise they were gone. Though to be honest, I considered removing one or two myself, or at least shortening them to cut out unnecessary bits of speech.
Quotes have got to be very selective, and to-the-point. Most quotes you'll see are just witty statements, because they can be understood without much context. Anything that isn't a witty statement needs to be really memorable for some other reason. The important thing is not to get carried away and tell the whole story.
Hope that helps in some way. If you still feel some of your quotes should've stayed, I'd suggest going to the episode's talk page and giving your reasons there. THB Talk 16:10, March 21, 2013 (UTC)

Analyzers Edit

Would you be able to get the rest of the animated analyzers for Adventure, 02, Frontier, and Data Squad? Now activating Project: SPIDERS EVERYWHERE 22:27, April 14, 2013 (UTC)

Not sure if you mean the templates or actual animations. Either way, I finished all of Adventure and 02 before I left the wiki.
Template-wise, the Frontier template seems to be looking pretty good already, though Data Squad looks a bit unfinished - hard to say what it should be really, Data Squad is kind of inconsistent. :/
Also, I know you didn't mention Tamers, but I drew up some ideas for it a while ago, if you're interested. I should mention, with the last two, I was trying to create that circular pattern, which looks great in Chrome and Safari, but doesn't come out properly in Firefox or IE.
Animation-wise, I'm afraid I'm not really in a position to be making more animations at the moment - lacking both the tools and the time. Though, outside Adventure and 02, there's not a lot of animation in the analyzers anyway, so I'm not sure if it's really worth making them.
Well that's a mouthful... Basically, I can do templates, but not animations. Data Squad looks kind of urgent, so I could start with that. THB Talk 18:25, April 16, 2013 (UTC)
For Tamers, it's really only the Toei art so I think the best bet there is to just use the Toei art; not sure how to address the necessary tranparency on the images, though, since the images need to be white-background elsewhere.
For Adventure and 02, there are a few that were not animated, such as Gazimon. If you are unable to get the animations done yourself, would you be able to write up instructions so that someone else could create animations that fit the same standards as your previous work? Now activating Project: SPIDERS EVERYWHERE 20:11, April 16, 2013 (UTC)
Any Adventure and 02 one's that aren't animated, I left on purpose as there is no animation in there - for example, the still image of Gazimon is what they literally show. There were others, such as in Davis Cries Wolfmon, which did zoom out as well, though again on still images, so I decide it wasn't worth animating a simple zoom.
I can't really remember all the details about how I went about making them, but here's roughly the process I had:
  • Obtain screenshots from RAW quality video - the analyzer footage is normally copied from elsewhere in the episode, so find the original full-screen footage; 2D animation frame rate is about 14 fps, lower than the full video frame rate, so just take enough screenshots to get all the 2D animation frames.
  • Insert screenshots into animation software - I used one called Jasc Animation Shop because it was there, don't know about any others.
  • Add a 10 second pause where appropriate - the analyzer footage normally has a pause on the last frame, though if not, use your own judgement as to where to put it (if at all, e.g. here).
  • Add a fade effect on the last frame which loops back to the first frame.
  • Generate the animation as a GIF - set the size to whatever it'll need to be displayed at - if you try to shrink it down later, it'll become stuck on the first frame.
And that's basically it!
Concerning the Tamers templates, shall I put one of them up, or tweak them a bit more? THB Talk 18:24, April 17, 2013 (UTC)

Circular lack of informationEdit

In this 2010 edit you removed a character page to point to a list page. There is no longer a simple "Families" category in List of characters in Digimon Adventure anymore though.

There is List_of_characters_in_Digimon_Adventure#Izumi_family where this can point, but the problem here is that this section actually has no information at all about Yoshie Izumi.

If that was the case, why was her page redirected there? All the section has is "Main articles: Masami Izumi and Yoshie Izumi" which are both just links that redirect back to this list page.

It just seems altogether pointless. A list page is supposed to be an overview but I'm worried that in redirecting character pages here (even stubs) that problems like this occur where we're led to believe we have information about characters when we actually don't have any publically available.

Could we just break up this list page an include the information on individual character articles? Retaining the list page isn't a problem but I don't think we should ever be redirecting names to the list. By having a wikia project dedicated to Digimon we have the freedom to explore even minor characters on a full page, and doing so allows us a lot more freedom to expand that content. +Yc 12:22, August 13, 2013 (UTC)

There's something called "organization". I can't remember which of our policy pages state this, but giving everything a page is not organizational. There are some characters that just not worthy a full page, like Taiga's mother, and pretty much everything here. It's also for a similar reason that we have a page named Digivice listing every type of Digivice instead of a separate page for each model.
I know there are some Wikis that choose to give a page for everything, but we aren't going to do that because having some in lists is better from an organizational standpoint. Anime... PAAWAA!!! 14:11, August 13, 2013 (UTC)
The main-link on the list page should be replaced with a section-stub template. While we don't have the restrictions of wikipedia and can cover everything, that doesn't automatically lead to needing everything to have a separate page. We need to consider what will make the information easiest to find for readers, as well as what will best develop the context of the info given; for minor characters that barely anyone remembers the name for, this means placing them within a list of other minor characters. Now activating Project: SPIDERS EVERYWHERE 14:51, August 13, 2013 (UTC)
I agree with all the above, though at the time of that 2010 edit, there was information on the characters page. The redirects replaced all of that - here. Was there a particular reason for getting rid of all that info? Was it bad in some way? THB Talk 16:41, August 13, 2013 (UTC)

Attack animationsEdit

Is KrytenKoro right about attack pics? He told me to run it by.

So, for example, you could have: ◾"File:Raidramon - Blue Thunder (Blue Thunder) AttackAnimation.gif" ◾"File:Raidramon - Blue Thunder (Thunder Blast, 2-25) AttackAnimation.gif" ◾"File:Raidramon - Blue Thunder (Thunder Blast, 2-26) AttackAnimation.gif" ◾"File:Lucemon Chaos Mode - Ultimate Sacrifice (4) AttackAnimation.gif" ◾"File:Lucemon Chaos Mode - Ultimate Sacrifice (6) AttackAnimation.gif" ◾"File:Agumon - Pepper Breath AttackAnimation.gif" The important thing is that we want to specify the Digimon's name and attack first, to assist with sorting these images, and then want to parse the version of the attack as done with Sourced Attack articles. A Parser only needs to be used if the depiction of the attack differs between uses, but whether a parser is used or not, the licensing for the image should still list the Digimon, the attack's English and Japanese names (if available), and what episode the animation is taken from. --Kyurem147 (talk) 01:00, December 11, 2013 (UTC)

Hmm... Well, I gained access to a couple of Windows 8/10 computers and it doesn't work on either, so it does seem to be a general Windows problem. A little research suggests that 'Arial Narrow' is actually not included on Windows - there's even an official patch. Obviously, we can't ask every Windows user to install a patch to fix our own problem, so I'll try and find a workaround. There's a parameter called letter-spacing that might do...
Here's Some (narrow) text...
Here's Some (narrower) text...
Here's Some (even narrower) text...
Spacing reduced by 1px, 1.5px and 2px respectively. The last one might be pushing it... Is that working for you though? If so, which do you think is best? THB Talk 20:37, July 11, 2016 (UTC)
It works for me, but are there perhaps other standard fonts we could use?Now activating Project: SPIDERS EVERYWHERE 21:22, July 12, 2016 (UTC)
As far as I can tell, the only other one that might work is 'Helvetica Narrow'. (Here's some text with the font applied.) Otherwise, 'letter-spacing' seems like the only option...
There is another property called 'font-stretch', but none of the major browsers support it at the moment. Might be worth keeping an eye on for the future though... THB Talk 22:22, July 12, 2016 (UTC)

Myotismon Edit

For the attacks, all that was needed was like what's done on Raidramon (within the commented out code) -- explicitly stating which episode an attack name is used in, so that we're sure we aren't mixing statistics from multiple continuities. The sources don't need to (and aren't usually) visible, but it helps us check when an English attack and Japanese attack are actually the same thing, for example. Now activating Project: SPIDERS EVERYWHERE 19:27, September 26, 2016 (UTC)

Episode imagesEdit

So, you uploaded pictures for Adventure and 02 episodes to use in the articles. Is there are method you used to decide when to take a screenshot in the episode? I'm asking because I want to upload images for the other series when I have time, but I currently don't have the time to rewatch everything to look for good images. I already put two images here. Anime... PAAWAA!!! 23:25, April 23, 2017 (UTC)

Well, it was a while ago but from what I remember...
Ideally, I'd have to be vaguely familiar with the episode already. I would start by skimming through an episode to get an overall understanding of the plot, then try and break it up in my mind into the 6 (or however many) most key points that best sum it up. Only then would I start skimming back and forth looking for screenshots that fit those key points - admittedly sometimes for a while. I'd generally be on the look out for images that firstly tell you as much as possible at once - sometimes even subtle things like a character's expression can make an image more informative - and secondly just look good (e.g. epic, well framed... that sort of thing). Also consider how the screenshots look when they're together - I would avoid having two screenshots that basically explain the same bit of plot, and also try and make sure they're spread evenly through the episode.
...Anyway, hope that helps in some way. I'd recommend looking at some of the Adventure and 02 screenshots if you haven't already. I can also go through my thought process for a specific example if that would help. THB Talk 21:09, April 24, 2017 (UTC)
