Volume 1

BATTLE01: Welcome to the Digimon Net Game!

  • Japanese Title: Digimon Net Game he Youkosou! (デジモンネットゲームへようこそ!?)

After winning in a Digimon Tamer tournament consisting of his soccer club, Tsurugi Tatsuno is invited by his friend Tooru to try his partner, Greymon, out against opponents all around the world on "Net Battle" (ネット対戦 Net Taisen?). Accessing this virtual world through the Digimon Battle Terminal, Tsurugi creates an avatar which looks like him expect for one difference: he has goggles. Upon meeting Greymon, he proceeds to battle against Saitou, whom he discovers has a Greymon much larger than his. He wins because what Greymon lacks in size he makes up for in pure speed. After winning several battles, Tsurugi logs off of the game, but is attacked by a Kuwagamon in the bathroom. When he is about to be killed, Greymon realizes from his Digimon Mini to protect him.

BATTLE02: Black-Winged Knight!

  • Japanese Title: Kuro ki Tsubasa no Knight! (黒き翼のナイト!?)

After Greymon realizes from his Digimon Mini to protect him, Tsurugi then battles Kuwagamon and wins, only to find that no trace of the encounter remains, save for the wound on his cheek. Tooru doesn't believe him the next day. Tsurugi then meets up with his class representative, Ami Kitajima, but is snubbed by his childhood friend, Shou Kahara, who has a black Digimon Mini he won't allow anyone to touch. After school, while watched by Tooru and Ami's little brother Taku, Tsurugi and Ami enter Net Battle, where Tsurugi finds that even his Greymon doesn't acknowledge fighting Kuwagamon and Ami meets her partner, Pichimon. The pair are approached by a cloaked figure who tells them that the hexagonal shape on their Digimon are Mu symbols which represent Illegal type Digimon—those Digimon who are the Digital World's hope. Believing it to be a game event, Tsurugi blissfully continues battling until Saitou's mentor Kondoo challenges him with his Raremon, only to be interrupted by Peckmon and Knight.

BATTLE03: Greymon VS Peckmon!

  • Japanese Title: Greymon VS Peckmon! (グレイモンVSペックモン!?)

Upon Knight and Peckmon's arrival, Raremon is deleted and the signifance of the Hacker Tamer is revealed; all digimon Knight and Peckmon defeat turn into trash data, unable to be recovered. Tsurugi then notices that Peckmon, who can actually speak, also has a hexagonal mark—the mark of an Illegal. Greymon and Peckmon fight, with Peckmon dominating the battle until Tsurugi and Greymon's determination shatters Peckmon's shield. At this point, Knight has Peckmon attack the Terminal's battle program, paralyzing Greymon and allowing Peckmon to deal a critical blow. When Knight orders Peckmon to kill Tsurugi, the cloaked figure intervenes and transfer them away, while Ami wakes up in the Real World, only to find that Tsurugi has been sucked into the game. When Tsurugi awakes in a train terminal, he goes to check on Agumon, dedigivolved from his Greymon, only to realize that he actually can feel things. The cloaked figure then reveals that he transferred him to the Digital World. Tsurugi guesses that the cloaked figure is Shou Kahara, only to find that it is instead Piximon, one of the Sages (賢者 kenja?) of the Digital World. He then tells them to board a Trailmon. Meanwhile, Knight reports to an unseen figure that he failed to delete Greymon and then reveals that he is actually Shou.

BATTLE04: Commandments of Terror!

  • Japanese Title: Kyoufu no Commandments! (恐怖のコマンドメンツ!?)

After Tsurugi disappears, Tooru and Ami try to explain to police officers that he went missing, to the officers' disbelief. On Trailmon, Tsurugi is still convinced that he is in the video game, up until the point that Piximon drives home the fact that he is in the Digital World. Before he can explain more, Trailmon enters a wide open space and takes them to Hidden Valley (隠れ谷 Kakure Tani?) where a swarm of Patamon greets them. Agumon then wakes up and proceeds to get into a fight with Tsurugi over their loss to Peckmon. Piximon interrupts the battle and explains their purpose—to save the world from the Demon Lord Barbamon, who has taken over the Host Computer. Meanwhile, in his castle in the System World (天界 System Kai?), Shou finishes his report to Barbamon, who reveals that to rebirth the world, he needs the eight Digimemories (世界の記憶?), of which he has the Dark (アンコク Ankoku?) and Shou and Peckmon have the Bird (トリ Tori?). He states that it is all for the future of Digimon, NEO. At Piximon's house, Tsurugi remembers that Piximon further explained that the one with all the Digimemories can change the world at its source, revealing that he carries the Holy (セイ Sei?) Digimemory. A Patamon then goes to Tsurugi in a panic. Piximon, because of the Patamon captives taken by the Commandments, Barbamon's army, is defeated by Sealsdramon and has his Holy Digimemory taken. Right in front of Tsurugi's eyes, Sealsdramon stabs Piximon, igniting Tsurugi's rage and Digisoul. Tsurugi's Digisoul then empowers Agumon to defeat Sealsdramon, causing his Commandramon subordinates to flee. Piximon turns out to be all right though gravely injured, and Tsurugi declares his resolve to fight Barbamon and his Commandments. In gratitude, Piximon turns his Digimon Mini into a Digivice iC and charges them to go to Light City to meet another Sage.

BATTLE05: Yuu and Gaomon!

  • Japanese Title: Yuu to Gaomon! (ユウとガオモン!?)

At Sealsdramon's defeat, Shou is angry about Tsurugi's appearance in the Digital World. Meanwhile, Tsurugi and Agumon, very hungry, ask Trailmon to detour to a village they see in the distance, only to find that it is in ruins from the Commandments. Tsurugi then discovers that the Digivice iC can create food, only for Gaomon to steal it. In the Real World, Tooru and Ami are taken to the police station, where they meet Inspector Inui, whose own son Yuu Inui has gone missing. In the Digital World's Middle Town, Agumon and Tsurugi track down Gaomon, only to find that he stole the Digivice in order to feed Yuu, who has also managed to make his way into the Digital World. They are interrupted by a Tankdramon coming and killing the survivors of the initial attack. Angered, Tsurugi's Digisoul flares and Agumon attacks the Tankdramon, but to no avail. When Tsurugi firms his resolve, his Digisoul flares once more, and Agumon digivolves to GeoGreymon and reveals that he has the Dragon (リュウ Ryuu?) Digimemory. GeoGreymon then attacks Tankdramon, only to be informed by Yuu that the top is his weakpoint. Gaomon then distracts Tankdramon as GeoGreymon approaches and kills Tankdramon. Yuu and Gaomon join Tsurugi and GeoGreymon on their journey.

BATTLE06: i-LAND!

  • Japanese Title: i-LAND!

After being released by the police, Ami returns to the Battle Terminal where Tsurugi disappeared, only to disappear in a flash of light. Meanwhile, GeoGreymon is still stuck in his Champion form on Trailmon, up until the point where he has to relieve himself. The release of tension allows him to dedigivolve back into Agumon. Tsurugi, Agumon, Yuu, and Gaomon then discover an amusement park-like area, and Yuu discovers numerous beehives containing digieggs. Taking one out, the group is surprised by Waspmon, who retrieves the egg and explains that these Digimon are "Natural" Digimon, while Digimon such as Agumon, born with human children, are "Art" Digimon, short for Artifical. After giving Waspmon Tankdramon's egg, Tsurugi and Yuu follow Waspmon while the Digimon eat, only to be locked in a chamber so that Waspmon can attack the Digimon with his army of FanBeemon. Tsurugi and Yuu find Ami and Pichimon, who reminds Tsurugi that Yuu has a heart condition which hasn't been bothering him in the Digital World. Outside, Agumon and Gaomon are hurt because Agumon can't digivolve without Tsurugi's Digisoul, and to drive home despair Waspmon digivolves to CannonBeemon.

BATTLE07: VS CannonBeemon!

  • Japanese Title: VS CannonBeemon! (VSキャノンビーモン!?)

After digivolving from Waspmon, CannonBeemon wastes no time in attacking Agumon and Gaomon. Gaomon tells Agumon to free the Tamers; drawing the attention of the FanBeemon, Agumon rushes in while Gaomon stays behind to delay CannonBeemon. Gaomon asks CannonBeemon Barbamon's reasons for his Commandments—he responds with purification; Barbamon plans to create a new Digital World by deleting the old. Gaomon then uses Tankdramon's digiegg as a shield, hoping that loyalty to comrades would stop CannonBeemon, only to be viciously disabused of the notion when CannonBeemon attacks anyway, damaging the digiegg and severely harming Gaomon's leg. The Tamers return just in time to see a blaze of attacks leaving Gaomon unconscious and on the verge of death. His Digisoul spurred by Yuu's tears, Tsurugi digivolves Agumon to GeoGreymon, who the proceeds to deliver a beatdown. CannonBeemon flies outside of GeoGreymon's fighting range, but Tsurugi's Digisoul gives GeoGreymon a new techniques, which first ties then beats CannonBeemon's strongest attack. In the end, Gaomon survives and Tsurugi takes all of the digieggs to protect them from the Commandments, just as Barbamon orders an all-out attack to elimate Tsurugi.

BATTLE08: Sun Caravan!

  • Japanese Title: Taiyou no Caravan! (太陽のキャラバン!?)

As Barbamon readies his army, he explains his reasons for a new world—he wishes for Digimon autonomy from humans, who he sees as creatures who create and subsequently toss Digimon they no longer care for. Meanwhile, Ami is freaking out because she wants no part of the battles and doesn't care about Barbamon. In the same vein, she wants Yuu to return as well, because he has an operation coming up. Yuu, while also not wanting to fight, doesn't want to return either because he's scared of the operation. In the middle of the night, Yuu and Gaomon steal away, with Trailmon reluctantly letting them. The next day, the rest order Trailmon to go back as Yuu and Gaomon, nearly collapsing from the heat, discover an oasis. As they rest an recover, a caravan of Lalamon and Tanemon, led by a Sunflowmon, appear and reveal that the desert they are currently in used to be a verdant land and that they are heading to the North Forest to meet MegaKabuterimon. While at the oasis, however, the caravan is attacked by DemiMeramon, who herald a Meramon who has been corrupted by Barbamon and proceeds to beat up Gaomon.

BATTLE09: The Black Digicore!

  • Japanese Title: Kuro no Digicore! (黒の核!?)

Tsurugi and co. burst in on Trailmon and Agumon digivolves to GeoGreymon to attack Meramon. His physical attacks, however, have no effect as Meramon constantly regenerates—and his fire attacks do worse, as they actually increase Meramon's strength. Meramon then atttacks GeoGreymon, severely hurting him, at which point Gaomon notices that there is a black sphere in Meramon's chest. Sunflowmon and the Lalamon step in to hold Meramon off, but when he attacks them, Yuu's Digisoul flares without warning and makes Gaomon digivolve to Gaogamon and revealing that he holds the Beast (ケモノ Kemono?) Digimemory. However, the Digisoul is a spontaneous release—Yuu can't control it, and it's hurting him as much as it helps. It also renders the digivolution incomplete, and Gaogamon is going to dedigivolve soon. He then uses Spiral Blow to trap Meramon in water to expose the black orb, which GeoGreymon then attacks—for a brief moment, his arm turns into a revolver arm as it strikes the orb. Meramon then explains that Barbamon was controlling him through the orb, a Black Digicore. This only firms Tsurugi's resolve to fight Barbamon—and Yuu's too, who wishes to no longer be a coward fleeing from everything. They take the caravan and board Trailmon to go to North Forest... except it has already been destroyed.

MegaKabuterimon was fighting Peckmon and winning, revealing he held the Insect/Plant (ムシ・クサキ Mushi/Kusaki?) Digimemory. In response, Peckmon digivolves to Crowmon and kills MegaKabuterimon. After leaving most of their accumulated friends at North Forest, the Tamers continue on in silence and realize that they need to be Ultimate level as well, as they've never gone up against another Illegal-type Ultimate before. Meanwhile, Shou has to return to the real world to recover, and his mom worries for him. He then reveals he has a picture of all the Tamers and Norn together from three years ago.

In the present, Datamon, the Commandments' strategist, questions Peckmon on why Shou is associating with Norn—only to be rebuffed by Peckmon, stating that only Knight is his master. Angered but put in his place by Barbamon, Datamon plots. As the Tamers continue forth, Ami finds Gaomon spying on Yuu's conversation with Trailmon, and she correctly guesses that he's jealous of Yuu's bond with Trailmon. After Gaomon's denials, she asks where Pichimon is, only to be told that he's with Tsurugi. She arrives just in time to interrupt Pichimon's training, except Trailmon is stopped by a hot springs on the track. Entering, they are greeted by an Angewomon and her Gatomon servants. Ami enters the bath to be greeted by Angewomon, who reveals that the hot springs are actually machine oil and immediately attacks her. Pichimon shields them with protect, revealing that he holds the Water (ミズ Mizu?) Digimemory, which prompts Angewomon to show that she's actually Datamon in a robot and that the Gatomon are Hagurumon in disguise. As Datamon approached, Ami is reminded of the loss of her own mother and resolves not to lose anyone else. Pichimon responds by digivolving to MarineAngemon. MarineAngemon's power makes Datamon and his Hagurumon lose their will to fight, and it turns out that Datamon has been affecting their paths. They head on past the valley to Light City.

Zanbamon breaks through GeoGreymon's attack easily and forces him to dedigivolve back to Koromon. Tsurugi doesn't give up, attempting to stop Zanbamon himself, and is saved when part the roof collapses from Zanbamon's previous attack, sticking him and Koromon on one side of it and Zanbamon on the other. Meanwhile, the others on Trailmon are surprised by Mummymon and his squad; they shoot Trailmon full of holes, and he barely survives to take them to the station, after which he dies. Andromon explains that the Digital World is connect to the Real World, and that feeling transmit across the barrier. Dark emotions are called to the Dark Area, which breeds the Dark Digisoul in Tamers, just as Knight uses. Andromon explains that a person doesn't turn dark so easily, so, with rest and restoration of mind, Yuu would be fine. In the face of the damage wrought by the commands and in spite of Ami's fears, Tsurugi reaffirms himself to his mission to fight Barbamon and is welcomed by the Resistance. Andromon then explains that the System World is protected by a barrier—which RizeGreymon, Koromon's Ultimate form, would be able to pierce. Meanwhile, Zanbamon reports on his failure to Barbamon, and Chaosdramon steps in, offering to use Knight in order to find the Resistance's base. A Guardromon then captures Shou, who meets up with Tsurugi and Ami. He asks them the same question Norn asked them three years ago, and then blows up when Tsurugi doesn't remember the promise they made to fight with Digimon long ago. He then reveals himself as Knight and states his purpose: to alert the Commandments to the base's location.

As Shou reveals his persona as Knight, Chaosdramon and the Commandments bombard the hidden base. When Shou orders Peckmon to take the Digimemories, Tsurugi has Koromon digivolve to GeoGreymon and fight back. As the Digimon fight, Shou explains his reasoning—back in the human world, Shou has been protecting kids from bullies and, in the process, has his Digimon Mini containing his Peckmon destroyed. Barbamon then calls him to the Digital World, showing that he has saved Peckmon from death. He then gives Shou his black Digimon Mini, which allows him to transfer between worlds. In order to fight the suffering of "Art" Digimon caused by human Tamers, Shou swore fealty to Barbamon and became his Knight. Saying that the future is for NEO, who will bring Digimon true happiness as well as save Norn, Shou emits a Dark Digisoul which he combines with a black Digivice iC to digivolve Peckmon to Crowmon. Crowmon then uses Haguro to call a portal to the Dark Area. In a clash of ideals, Shou says that in order to create a better future, he needs to destroy the present—and Barbamon has ideal justice on his side. As GeoGreymon sinks into Haguro, Tsurugi dives after him until both are covered in darkness. For a beat, it looks as if they are dead, but a shining light breaks the darkness and RizeGreymon and Tsurugi burst out, denying that justice can come from destruction and slaughter.

The newly digivolved RizeGreymon reveals that Tsurugi's Digisoul saved them from Haguro; Tsurugi's light is stronger than Shou's darkness. Before Shou's doubts can set in, dark thoughts seep into him and he calls on Crowmon to use Haguro to corrode the very space around them. After speeding around RizeGreymon, Crowmon sets up his Mikafutsu no Kami, the attack which killed MegaKabuterimon—only RizeGreymon manages to hold it to a standstill. As RizeGreymon smashes the ball, which he says is the pain in Shou's heart, Tsurugi and Ami are treated to the lonely thoughts residing in Shou's heart, how he believes he has to stand alone. It is then revealed that Barbamon used brainwashing power to turn Shou to his side, only Shou himself reveals that he allowed himself to be converted. He states that while Tsurugi has always lived a life of light, surrounded by friends, Shou was trapped in a world of darkness, loneliness. Barbamon was the only one to acknowledge his potential, his ability to fight for justice even with his darkness. Refusing to accept that, Tsurugi makes his Digisoul shine to dispel the Shou's Dark Digisoul, revealing a Black Digicore in Shou's heart. RizeGreymon moves to destroy it, but Crowmon refuses to let him hurt his master. Only, RizeGreymon convinces Crowmon that it is for his own good, and Crowmon steps aside as Shou asks if even his partner's abandoning him. With one shot, the Black Digicore is destroyed and Barbamon's hold over Shou is shattered, much to Norn's relief, just as Andromon steps up to face Chaosdramon. Surrounded by his friends, Ami tells Shou that every human has darkness in his heart and that because Shou was only to conscious of it which led to his fall. Shou then admits that he declined the hands which reached out to him, resenting the light. As Tsurugi asks Shou to join their journey, he passes out.

BATTLE17: I...!

Asleep, Yuu is tormented by his own weakness and cowardice. He wakes up to speak with Andromon, and his conversation is interspersed through the following scenes. Yuu regrets Trailmon's death and the fact that he died protecting them. He asks questions about why people are born in certain ways, why he's weaker than others. Andromon responds by saying that all Digimon are born essentially with their types set, and that they thrive by making the most of their limited abilities. He goes further by saying that Yuu's hesitation is not weakness; it is necessary to make the right choice. Andromon says that's what life is: a series of choices to stick to. Yuu withdraws into himself to think as Andromon goes to confront Chaosdramon. Though he has no trouble fighting the Commandramon and Tankdramon underlings, he has significantly more difficulty fighting Chaosdramon. Meanwhile, Tsurugi and the rest are worried about Shou, who needs medical attention. The battle between Andromon and Chaosdramon ends when Chaosdramon fires his Hyper Mugen Cannon, utterly decimating both friend and foe. Andromon barely survives to make it back to Yuu, and he reveals that what a partner Digimon is a Tamer's dream from the heart, using the last of his strength to turn Yuu's Digimon Mini into a blue Digivice iC. After Chaosdramon finds the other Tamers, he reveals that Barbamon believes Shou to be expendable and that he's to kill them all. Before he can attack, he is interrupted by MachGaogamon bursting in. Yuu then states his resolve to fight, spurring by Andromon's words and belief in him. Just as Chaosdramon is about to attack, Murmukusmon orders a retreat. Norn gets into an argument with Barbamon and is interrupted by the arrival of two of his Commanders, who bring the hostages. On the ground, Gaomon and Agumon get into an argument which is broken by Piximon, who has just arrived. Piximon spurs them onward to fight before nearly collapsing from the injuries he sustained en route. He uses some of the last of his energy to heal the battle fatigue of the Tamers. Shou, pessimistic, tells them that a Firewall encircles System World to deny all entrants, but Tsurugi responds that their Digisoul will find a way. Still despondent, Shou doesn't rise to even Tsurugi's declarations that he still cares for him. In almost disgust, Tsurugi calls on Yuu to leave, and their digimon digivolve to their Ultimate forms as they rise in the sky. A fleet of CannonBeemon who act as transport for BladeKuwagamon block them, but RizeGreymon defeats them all in one blow as MachGaogamon takes care of the CannonBeemon. Zanbamon, itching for a rematch, deploys himself as Barbamon takes the Water Digimemory. Meanwhile, Tsurugi and Yuu have come on the Firewall, which nullifies their attacks. Tsurugi burns his Digisoul again, giving RizeGreymon the power to create a hole in Firewall and advance forward once more.

Norn knows that the Digimon Twin are needed, but to do that, two Tamers have to complement each other. After Tsurugi's Digivice iC is destroyed, Zanbamon attacks. Meanwhile, Chaosdramon taunts MachGaogamon about how he is a killing machine which MachGaogamon can never stand up to. Yuu, angered, charges his Digisoul once more and heals MachGaogamon. In order to pierce the Red Digizoid, MachGaogamon uses a sound based attack which doesn't need to pierce defenses; even when Chaosdramon shuts it out and fires a Hyper Mugen Cannon, the same one that decimated Light City and would use it even with Barbamon's castle in the way, the sound damaged his aiming capabilities and the attack misses. Yuu pours all of his Digisoul into his Digivice iC in one attack, and MachGaogamon uses a Red Digizoid claw stolen from Chaosdramon's previous attack to inflict a critical blow, breaking the Digivice in the process. This causes Chaosdramon to go berserk. Meanwhile, Murmukusmon tires of the weakness in his comrades and decides to end it with a Gehenna Flame, but Shou interrupts with the comment that Murmukusmon himself was once one to protect Yggdrasil. Murmukusmon says that NEO is for the future, but Shou now questions a future built on the corpses of others. Destroying the black Digivice iC that is his last connection to Barbamon, Shou vows to save Norn by defeating Murmukusmon. In response, Barbamon draws the remaining Firewall into his attack to increase its power hundredfold. Shou then tells Tsurugi to watch—that the bond between Digimon and Tamer doesn't need a Digivice. Shining with his new, pure Digisoul, Shou roars that this is the purpose of humans as he peforms a Burst Charge, digivolving Peckmon to Ravemon.

BATTLE21: Anti-God Devices Digimon Twin!

  • Japanese Title: Tsuijinki Digimon Twin! (対神器デジモンツイン!?)

After Shou performs Burst Charge and Peckmon digivolves to Ravemon, Murmukusmon reveals that the Burst Charge burns away a Tamer's life as he and Ravemon clash in a flash of light. Inside of Murmukusmon's memories where he was once MagnaAngemon, he remembers a young "Art" Digimon, a DemiVeemon he took care of. It turns out Shou used his Digisoul to bring Murmukusmon's memories back to life. Murmukusmon asks why Shou, a human, would fight for the Digital World. Shou responds that he simply likes it. When DemiVeemon dies because an "Art" Digimon needs a Tamer's love to survive, Barbamon comes and twists MagnaAngemon's dark heart to turn him into Murmukusmon. Shou reveals that they were both fighting for the "Art" Digimon, but doing it in the wrong way, merely running from being hurt. As Ravemon defeats Murmukusmon, he questions what the correct path should have been. Meanwhile, the hole that Chaosdramon blew allows Tsurugi and Yuu to meet up, as Ravemon's attack takes Shou directly to Norn, killing SkullSatamon in the process. Trapped between two Mega Digimon, Tsurugi knows that the Burst Charge is their only chance. Due to the danger, Yuu is the only to step up, knowing that Tsurugi is needed for the battle against Barbamon. Just about to burn his Digisoul away, a light interrupts them as the Digivice Twin give themselves to Tsurugi and Yuu, just as they discover VictoryGreymon and ZeedGarurumon.

BATTLE22: The Demon Lord Barbamon!

  • Japanese Title: Maou Barbamon! (魔王バルバモン!?)

At the digivolution of his partner, Tsurugi wonders why their hearts aren't connected anymore. System World changes to accommodate the damage done to it, as Norn explains the Digimon Twin bring with them the miracle of the Mega level. But when Tsurugi and Yuu confront Barbamon, their Digimon do not respond. Barbamon laughs as he tells them their Digimon are Arbitrators, Digimon designed to take down Yggdrasil should it become corrupt. Norn explains that Yggdrasil wondered about the relationship between Digimon and Tamers, so he took his conscience and sent it to the Real World—Norn herself. While Norn was gone, Barbamon forced himself to Yggdrasil and found out the situation. Barbamon proposed a revolution... and Yggdrasil agreed, fusing with Barbamon. Barbamon calls the Dark Area to the Digital World and steals Peckmon's Bird Digimemory. Tsurugi wants to fight, but VictoryGreymon won't respond. As Norn explains, Tsurugi's Digisoul is consumed by his anger to Barbamon, and the Arbitrator won't respond to that. Tsurugi remembers why he fights—to protect the world and all its inhabitants. VictoryGreymon responds to this will and takes down Barbamon, only for his Dark Digimemory and the ones he gathered to awaken an incomplete NEO.

BATTLE23: NEO!

  • Japanese Title: NEO!

As Tooru, Taku, and Inspector Inui return to the Battle Terminal, the screen begins to display System World, where Barbamon's death births NEO. Norn tries to stop him, but he ends up taking ZeedGarurumon's Beast Digimemory. When VictoryGreymon tries to stop him, NEO effortlessly breaks his defense and takes the Dragon Digimemory. Norn explains that NEO isn't a Digimon; he is an existence which surpasses Yggdrasil—the future itself. Once complete, NEO proceeds in reducing everything around him to 0's and 1's via his Judgment attack. Shou awakens and looks at the devastation around him and says that NEO will create a new future by destroying everything but himself. Faced with a future where there is no life, Tsurugi and Yuu's Digisoul shine once more and revive the Arbitrators, who proceed to attack NEO. NEO, however, reduces the attacks to 0's and 1's without even a glance and continues to destroy everything. Ami, who survived the destruction calls out to Pichimon, who exists within NEO. Recalling their time spent together, Ami's Digisoul shines and Pichimon digivolves to MarineAngemon from within NEO to restrain him. With MarineAngemon's power, Judgment is delayed and VictoryGreymon and ZeedGarurumon ready to attack.

BATTLE24: Against the Future!

  • Japanese Title: Mirai to no Tatakai! (未来との戦い!?)

As MarineAngemon holds NEO, VictoryGreymon and ZeedGarurumon attack. Though they can only graze him before NEO forces them back, it is enough to give them hope, as NEO is not invincible. But NEO begins to fight MarineAngemon's influence, as one Digimemory isn't enough to seal his powers. Before he can attack, however, the Machine part of his acts up and displays Andromon, who reveals that he placed a virus in his Digimemory so that it will reflect his will. Piximon comes and orders the Holy Digimemory to fight, as well as what will is left in the Insect/Plant Digimemory by MegaKabuterimon. Emboldened by this, Peckmon, VictoryGreymon, and ZeedGarurumon all choose to seal NEO's power as well, but Barbamon's will in the Dark Digimemory counters this by allowing NEO to attack Tsurugi and Yuu. They are saved, however, by Zanbamon and Murmukusmon, who has reverted to MagnaAngemon. In a fit of unity, the former Commandments now come in to show their support for the Tamers, as well as the Sun Caravan and random Digimon from the world fight him. Now with the Digimon's support, Norn breaks the shackles holding her to show that she is Yggdrasil, not the body that merged with Barbamon. In response, NEO says it's too late and uses Zero Genesis to destroy the universe. All that is left is a small part of the System World containing the heroes.

Tsurugi, Yuu, VictoryGreymon, and ZeedGarurumon go through and fight NEO, but before VictoryGreymon can land a definite blow, NEO tells Tsurugi that he is the universe itself and that to resist is useless. With the power of his Digisoul, carrying all of the world's hopes, Tsurugi and VictoryGreymon charge forward, breaking through NEO's defenses and delivering a definitive blow.
