Kumamon is a Beast Man Digimon. It possesses power over Ice which bears the might of AncientMegatheriummon. It styles itself as holding rank as a member of a polar army's polar region defense force. Since it replies that the matter's top secret if you ask anything about it, the truth is unknown. It's thought to be largely something it dreamed up. However, its operation of the Launcher it carries (nicknamed Romeo) and its precision conduct in battle are genuine, and its survivalist knowledge also has a strong, truly reliable existence. Since it rarely acts of its own volition, it primarily operates in response to someone's requests or orders. It will have nothing to do if nobody is relying on it, and is likely to worry about its purpose in life and get completely depressed. The shots fired from its Launcher are special snowballs, so there are several varieties according to purpose.[7]

"Icicicicle~"): Takes the shape of an icicle and pounces at the opponent.
"Icicle Punch"): Turns its hand into an icicle and then punches.
"Icicle Fall"): Turns its lower body into an icicle and then drops down.
  • Blizzard Blaster (Snow Bomber): Blindly fires supercooled snowballs from the Launcher.
"Frozen Tinkling"): Blows cold wind from its mouth to freeze its opponents.
"Frozen Hammer"): Freezes its opponent with its breath and then uppercuts them.
  • V Jump Attack: Charges its enemy on its skis and attacks with them in a V shape.

Official romanization given by the Digimon Reference Book and used in Japanese media.

  • Chack. May derive from from chakuhyou (着氷? lit. "ice accretion") or Zaku II.

Name used in Digimon Frontier and most American English media.

  • (Ja:) Kuma (? lit. "bear").

The names Polarmon (ポーラモン) and Shirokumon (しろくもん), from the English and Japanese Polar Bear and Shirokuma (シロクマ? lit. "Polar Bear"), were considered before the name "Chackmon" was officially chosen. In addition, Kumamon went through drastic design changes. Kumamon's forehead mark was taken from a member of staff's business card.[8]
