Karatenmon is a Wizard Digimon. It has an appearance like a Shugenja. It is a follower of the great Tengu Digimon, and its face is the epitome of a crow. It excels in Shugendo, and freely manipulates its Genriki. The two swords that Karatenmon possesses are called the "Irataka" (伊由太加の剣 Irataka no Ken^?, lit. "Irataka Swords"), and contain strong magical powers.^[3] As a wandering warrior, it has been taught by many masters and gained arcane abilities.^[4]

Attacks

Harmony Swords (悟り, Satori^?, lit. "Enlightenment"): Reads the opponent's spirit to anticipate their attacks.
Feather Flare^[5] (衝撃羽, Shougekiha^?, lit. "Ballistic Feathers"): Flaps its jet black wings, driving its feathers in the opponent alongside a shock wave.

Development

Karatenmon was adopted from a winning entry in the "Digimon Web Dot-art Contest" which belonged to Masaki Shima from Ibaraki prefecture.

Karatenmon is #237, and is an Ultimate-level, Technical-class, Bird-species Digimon with a resistance to the Wind element and weakness to the Thunder element. Its basic stats are 219 HP, 238 MP, 127 Attack, 97 Defense, 115 Spirit, 115 Speed, and 50 Aptitude. It possesses the Psychic 4, Numb Ward3, and Quick 3 traits.

It dwells in the Chaos Brain and begins appearing after "The Final Battle". It is also available as a partner in Dawn's Japanese Starter pack.

Karatenmon digivolves from Saberdramon. In order to digivolve to Karatenmon, your Digimon must be at least level 33, with 170 spirit.

Karatenmon can also DNA digivolve from any two of Garurumon, Kougamon, and Firamon, if the base Digimon is at least level 27, with 175 spirit, and 155 speed. Karatenmon can DNA digivolve to Kuzuhamon with Taomon, to Ravemon with Shurimon, or to Anubismon with Crowmon.

Karatenmon can be hatched from the Oriental Egg.

Digimon Story: Lost Evolution

Karatenmon is #158, and is an Ultimate-level, Speed-class, Bird-species Digimon with a resistance to the Dark and Thunder elements and a weakness to the Holy and Fire elements. It possesses the Death Guard, High Speed Evasion, and Skill Master traits.

It dwells in the Risk Factory. When defeated, it can drop the debug plate for Airdramon or Anubismon.

Karatenmon digivolves from Airdramon or Peckmon, and can digivolve into Anubismon. In order to digivolve or degenerate into Karatenmon, your Digimon must be at least level 27 with 145 speed and a level cap of 36.

It can be hatched from the Bird DigiEgg.
