Garurumon was Akiharu "Haru" Minase's Partner Kemonogami when he was a child. After the duo were separated, he turned on the humans and began working with Master to sacrifice them. In the moral and truthful routes, Gaururmon and Akiharu are able to become friends again and renew their partnership. In the harmonious and wrathful routes however, they are not able to renew their partnership.

Description[]

  • Fox Fire: Spews blue, high-temperature flames from his mouth.
  • Attack Charge: Increases his, or one of his allies, attack.

Fiction[]

In 1970, 50 years in the past (thousands of years in alternate world time) Garurumon was a Gabumon that was partnered to Akiharu "Haru" Minase with the two being best of friends. Gabumon wasn't very strong though, which lead to Akiharu protecting him instead of the other way round. Feeling pathetic about how weak he was, his desire to protect Akiharu causes him to evolve to Garurumon. Before it can protect him though, the duo are separated when Miyuki Minase sings the song of the Minase Maiden, which opens up a portal to the real world. Akiharu is sucked into it, returning him back to the real world, with Garurumon freaking out, thinking their bond was just a lie the entire time.

This causes him to hate humans, with him holding a grudge for thousands of years (equal to 50 years in the human world). His memories of Akiharu also fade.

He becomes one of the many Kemonogami that work for Master, who instructs them to sacrifice children in order to save the World.

When Arukenimon fails to sacrifice the children, Piedmon says he will send MegaSeadramon to help her, though she turns it down. Monzaemon then asks if it can try before MegaSeadramon though Piedmon tells them that he saw no need for co-operation but they could do whatever they wanted. This pleases Garurumon, who then leaves to go and find the children.

Miu Shinonome, who had convinced the Kemonogami in the castle in the amusement park that she was their new queen, opens a trap door and has her brother and his friends fall through it — sending them to jail. At the same time group are freed from jail by Jijimon — Garurumon, Monzaemon, Arukenimon, and their minions ambush the castle in an attempt to kidnap Miu once again. They were unsuccessful again though, as Miu was able to escape due to the help of Syakomon.

After the group find Miu and leave the castle, Garurumon, Monzaemon, and their minions attack the kids and easily defeat the partner Kemonogami. Monzaemon attacks Miu, with some of her servants taking the blow for her instead. Garurumon decides to let the kids escape as he only cared about killing the Kemonogami that had bonded with humans not the humans themselves, which pisses off Monzaemon. Refusing to their let partners die, the Kemonogami get back up and continue to fight, with Kaito also fighting to prevent them from sacrificing Miu. The partner Kemonogami, some of the humans, and Miu's servants fight the evil Kemonogami with Miu admitting she loves her brother and doesn't want him, or his friends, to die. She asks Syakomon to save them with this causing Syakomon to evolve to Shellmon — who's added power allows the group to defeat Garurumon, Monzaemon, and their minions.

Some time later, he has a nightmare about being the partner Kemonogami to Akiharu, refusing to believe that it had actually happened in the past. As he screams himself awake he sees that Arukenimon had been watching him with her asking him to help her sacrifice some children. Though he turns down her request to help her sacrifice the children, he does agree to attack them since he wants to murder the partner Kemonogami.

When Falcomon runs away due to an argument with Minoru Hinata, the others look for him. A they do so, the Professor starts to regain his memories and remembers that he had seen the buildings in the alternate World before. Just as he realizes that, Garurumon was travelling nearby and ends up coming across the Professor. The two then realize they know each other, with Garurumon realizing that he was Akiharu. Rather than kill Akiharu he instead leaves as his aim was the find the Kemonogami. He eventually comes across Miyuki Minase and takes her hostage. Agumon fights Garurumon in an attempt to get her back, with the others joining the battle one by one to the annoyance of Garurumon as it has to hear about bonds and friendship. Sick of the fact Garurumon hadn't killed anyone in the battle yet, Arukenimon sends in some of her minions to help out though they are unable to help help as Garurumon and the minions are defeated yet again which allows Miyuki to escape. Garurumon flees, with Arukenimon fleeing as well since she was now on her own.

After Garurumon and Arukenimon's latest failure, the duo argue over who's fault it was. Piedmon tells them to shut up with the excuses and tells them to bring him Miyuki, who he refers to as the Priestess, and tells them they have one more chance as he will not tolerate any more failures.

After Piedmon kills Arukenimon due to her failing too many times, he takes matters into his own hands and kidnaps Miyuki. The children chase after him, only to run into Garurumon who blocks their path. Renamon (disguised as Akiharu's younger self under the name Haru) tells Garurumon to kill Akiharu, as he's the one he wants revenge on, so that he can achieve his revenge instead of trying to take it out on all humans. The children attempt to stop Garurumon, only to realize that Garurumon wasn't even trying to attack him. Renamon/Haru points out that he's supposed to hate humans yet wont actually kill them, and tells Garurumon that that goes directly against Master's plans. Garurumon, trying his best to admit that he really does hate humans, attacks them but is defeated once again. The partner Kemonogami point out that despite his claims, his heart isn't actually in his supposed desire to kill them which is why he keeps being defeated. Garurumon insists he hates humans because he was once betrayed by one but Dracmon points out that the fact he's lonely without said human proves that he doesn't actually hate them. Garurumon gives up, and allows the group to go on further — telling them exactly where Piedmon was. Akiharu then states he and Garurumon will talk about everything that had happened after the battle.

As the children fight Piedmon, the fog gets closer and closer to Miyuki with Akiharu running in to try and free her. Piedmon attacks him and tries to kill him, though Gaururumon suddenly runs in and takes the attack with him stating that he can't let Akiharu die before he gives him his full hatred. Garurumon agrees to work with Akiharu "one last time" to save Miyuki with this causing him to evolve to WereGarurumon. The group are able to defeat Piedmon then ask Piedmon who the Master is and why they have to sacrifice children, though he refuses to answer and laughs as he had stalled them long enough. The entire room fills with fog and Piedmon begins the sacrifice. Refusing to allow Miyuki to die, Takuma and Agumon charge to the ritual table with the others seeing Piedmon, Miyuki, Takuma, and Agumon disappearing. Garurumon then leaves, as their temporary alliance was over.

This happens in the moral route.

As a result of turning on Piedmon, Garurumon is attacked by Piedmon's minions. He is able to escape, and when the humans are taking pictures together at the school to remember their time together, Garurumon walks in covered in wounds. As Akiharu worries about him, Garurumon tells them to flee as Piedmon's minions were chasing him. The group try and convince Garurumon to escape with them, though multiple Puppetmon arrive as their conversation ended up being too long. The Puppetmon are excited they get to kill more than just Garurumon and refuse to believe Garurumon when he says it was Master who killed Piedmon not the kids. The Puppetmon ask Garurumon to re-join them and kill the kids, though he refuses and evolves to Weregarurumon. He struggles in the battle, which leads Akiharu to stand in the way of him to take the blow instead. As Akiharu tells him how much he cares about him and that he wants them to be friends again, WereGarurumon finally accepts him as he realizes he was the same Akiharu he always was. He realizes that Akiharu had never abandoned him and his renewed bond with him causes him to evolve to MetalGarurumon with MetalGarurumon happy that he finally was strong enough to protect his partner. They defeat piedmon's minions, who proceed to retreat. He devolves to Gabumon, with Akiharu crying in happiness since seeing Gabumon's face brought back so many memories.

When they go to the shrine to fight Master, they realize they can't get in and Renamon mentions he always just followed Master's minions when they used a magatama to get in. The group come to the conclusion they need to track down his minions to get it and end up finding them easily since they were near the shrine. A Puppetmon summons some Kenzoku, though he and the Kenzoku are defeated easily due to Puppetmon's previous wounds. Rather than kill them, Renamon offers Puppetmon a deal for him to give them the magatama amd if he does, they'll let them live. Puppetmon tells them he doesn't have it though, with the children still allowing him to live. They find another Puppetmon, though end up fighting it since Minoru was unable to convince it to just hand it over. They defeat this Puppetmon and his minions, and are able to retrieve the magatama.

They reach the bottom of the shrine, and find the Master possessed Miyuki. As Ahikaru and Renamon call out to Miyuki, she begins to regain control of her body though it doesn't last long as Master's power is too strong. Master summons a group of 3rd Class Kenzoku and has them fuse with Miyuki's body to create a Miyuki (Kenzoku). Now with a powerful body, Master uses this new form to fight the humans. Just as he was about to kill them all, Ahikaru is able to get through to Miyuki which puts a stop to the attacks with Miyuki realizing that he, not Renamon disguised as Haru, was her real brother. This doesn't last long though, as Master is able to regain control. Renamon, in his true form rather than as Haru, is also able to get through to Miyuki, with Ahikaru and Renamon's combined efforts snapping her out of the brainwashing. Master spawns a giant hand to try and get Miyuki away from them, with Akiharu fighting the hand itself to try and stop it. Just as it was about to kill Akiharu, Renamon dives in the way of the attack and takes the blow instead with him dying from his wounds. Miyuki's shock at seeing Eenamon die allows Master to retake control. Akiharu, Takuma and the others are shocked with Agumon and Gabumon telling them not to give up. Takuma and Akiharu's desires to save Miyuki cause both of their partners emotions to become linked. As they realize they don't currently have the power to win, they end up fusing together into Omegamon which allows them to defeat and free Miyuki. Miyuki begs Renamon not die, though he dies with a smile on his face since he got to save Miyuki and tells her to live alongside the real Akiharu instead of the fake version he was pretending to be. Miyuki's tears merge with the scattered data of Renamon's remains, causing them to merge together into an egg. Happy that Renamon hadn't truly died, Miyuki, Haru, and Gabumon say they will wait for the day Renamon is able to hatch since Renamon had waited so long for Miyuki.

They tell Miyuki to open a gate to the Human World, though she tells them she can't do that since she can only do that in the Master's domain. This causes the group to realize they would have to defeat Master after all. Miyuki also explains they needed to defeat him anyway, since he'll destroy both worlds otherwise. Desiring to kill them all, Master summons the group to him though they end up split up. Takuma and Agumon reunite with Miyuki, Akiharu, and Gabumon though the group are attacked by a group of Kenzoku pretending to be Miyuki and Akiharu's shadows. Unlike previous times, Akiharu and Miyuki are able to snap out of the visions themselves which pisses off the Kenzoku and causes them to attack. Miyuki having been able to snap out of it on her own causes Renamon to hatch from his egg. Renamon, figuring that since Miyuki had the others, decides that he isn't needed any more though Miyuki lets him know this isn't the case and that she cares about him. This causes Renamon to warp evolve to Sakuyamon with him joining the battle alongside Agumon and Garurumon. They defeat the Kenzoku, and find their friends also confronted by fake Kenzoku versions of themselves. They watch as they snap out of the visions by themselves, then help them defeat the Kenzoku. After they are all defeated, Master appears before the humans. As they fight, Master summons a group of Kenzoku and then absorbs them with this fully healing him and making him even more powerful. Takuma counters by giving his friends pep talks, which fully heals them and makes them more powerful as well whilst Miyuki sings the song of the Minase Maiden to weaken Master, with this also opening the gate to the Human World. During the battle, Master is able to take over Miyuki again though everyone hears the voices of other humans and learn that someone had recorded a video of Agumon fighting Piedmon. So many humans having watched the video causes all of the partner Kemonogami to power up, and also weakens Master even more. They are finally able to defeat Master, with his death freeing all the souls of those who he absorbed so they could finally move on to the afterlife. Master dies, though like Renamon before he turns into an egg. Unlike Renamon, Master was able to communicate through his egg and laughs, stating he will never fade. He tells them that he still has to sacrifice children to save the World, though they tell him that if the World has to be saved by sacrificing children they would rather the world be destroyed. Akiharu theorizes that if more people believe in the alternate world and the Kemonogami it would give power to it and allow it to survive which the children choose to believe. They try to take their partners with them to the Human World so that they could show them off and have people believe in them, though the partners refuse since they don't feel the time is right and instead force them to leave them behind. They all say goodbye to each other, with the Humans returning to their own World.

This happens in the harmonious route.

Garurumon is never able to live up to those words however, as Akiharu was killed by Boltboutamon whilst trying to protect Miyuki. As Akiharu was his destined partner, his death causes Garurumon to die as well. Alternatively, it is possible he was killed by Piedmon's minions for turning on Piedmon.

This happens in the wrathful route.

Garurumon is never able to live up to those words however, as the duo never cross paths again. It is possible he was killed by Piedmon's minions for turning on Piedmon.

This happens in the truthful route.

Garurumon once again has more dreams about his past, such as when he became partners with the younger Haru, but also about how heartbroken he was when they got separated. After he wakes up, his former Gazimon minions find him and attack him, seeing him as a traitor since he helped to kill Piedmon though he was able to escape. The Gazimon round up all of Piedmon's former minions, who search for him, with them eventually able to find Garurumon. They all attack him, though the children and their partners arrive and defend Garurumon against the many evil minions. Garurumon tries to leave, rather than thank them for saving his life, though Akiharu worries about him going off on his own. Akiharu tries to re-establish the partnership, though Garurumon states it was too late as they had already abandoned each other. Akiharu even begs Garurumon to help them rescue Miyuki from Master as his added power would help them do so, but he refuses and runs away. Akiharu chases him down and tells him about how much Garurumon changed his life, with the time they spent together allowing him to become a Professor who has taught many people many things with this causing Garurumon to agree to help rescue Miyuki and save the world — though Garurumon claims he was just paying him back for saving his life just now from Piedmon's minions.

After the rest of the group see Garurumon with Akiharu and Takuma, they assume he was trying to kill them again though they tell them the Garurumon had joined their side as Akiharu's partner. They are surprised, though happy at gaining such a powerful ally. Still with no clue where to find the member of the Four Sovereign Monsters, who's shrine was supposed to be nearby, Garurumon states he is pretty sure he knows where it is and has them follow him though on the way they end up seeing Piedmon's minions everywhere with most of the group acting as decoys to try and get them away from the shrine. Upon finding the shrine, Takuma, Akiharu, and their partners go into it and are confronted by Seiryu Ghost who senses that they had the power of Baihumon and Ebonwumon on their side. Takuma tells them that they want Azulongmon's power too, though Azulongmon states that he would not want to waste his power on them if they were weak. Takuma was about to fight Azulongmon, however he states that the trial was exclusively for Akiharu and Garurumon who did not have the power of Baihumon and Ebonwumon having only just joined the party. Garurumon defeats Azulongmon, with Azulongmon stating they were plucky and that they should now try his final trial... a fight against him — indicating that Azulongmon wasn't actually trying in that battle. Garurumon asks Akiharu to believe in him like he used to all those many years ago with this causing Garurumon to warp evolve into MetalGarurumon. MetalGarurumon then defeats Azulongmon for real. Having been defeated, Seiryu Ghost asks them to defeat Master and save the World and gives Syakomon the power to evolve to Azulongmon so that they could use his power to defeat him. They then teleport the group out of the shrine.

Suzaku Ghost is able to sense that the humans had gained the power of the other three members of the Four Sovereign Monsters, and with his shrine being under the school the children lived in, leaves the shrine and go to the school. His power is limited due to no longer being in the shrine though, despite how close he was, meaning he could not communicate with them. Instead he starts haunting them and as they get more and more scared, he mind controls their partners and has them go to the gym where they then vanish. Takuma is able to find the entrance to the shrine through a well by using his phone in the gym. The group go to the bottom of the well, which caves in on them as they reach the bottom. They wind up falling into the shrine where they are reunited with their partners, though they are unable to hear them. Zhuqiaomon confronts the group, angry that they would refer to the Kemonogami as their partners. They tell him about how they want to defeat Master and save the World, though Zhuqiaomon doubts their abilities since they were just children and the Sovereign Monsters had failed before. They beg for him to release their partners, which just pisses him off even more assuming they just wanted to use them as tools. Zhuqiaomon commands their partners to kill them, with them attacking their partners, though the humans are eventually able to snap them out of it. Zhuqiaomon is surprised to see this and admits their bonds are strong, but still doesn't understand why they would be friends with humans when they will just betray them one day. After being defeated by the humans, it is surprised with Suzaku Ghost appearing and stating that humans had managed to make a new fate for the world during the last one thousand years. Reunited with his partner for the first time in thousands of years, Zhuqiaomon is shocked, and Suzaku Ghost asks him to help the humans. He agrees, stating that they shouldn't be punished due to the actions of his partner since they had nothing to do with his crimes. He gives Falcomon the power to evolve to Zhuqiaomon so that they use his power to defeat master, and them teleports them out of the shrine.

When the group arrive at the shrine to defeat Master once and for all, Master sends multiple large groups of Kenzoku to attack them but are able to beat them all allowing them to get to Master. Haruchika's four ghost friends confront Master, telling him that a thousand years had passed in the human world and as such those he wishes to get revenge on had already died. Master didn't care though, and still wanted to destroy the world to get revenge. Miyuki begins to resist and tells him he's wrong, which pisses Master off. He summons multiple Kenzoku and orders them to merge with her, though they are defeated before they can do so which allows the group to rescue Miyuki. Pissed off at Miyuki's claims, he summons the entire group and demands to know what she meant and expresses jealousy and confusion that she doesn't hate her brother for abandoning her for so many years like his own sister had as well. She tells him that she was never abandoned, as she was the one who sent Akiharu home, and also tells Haruchika that he wasn't abandoned either. Pissed off at her claims, he attacks the group alongside a group of Kenzoku though the children are able to defeat them with the help of Miyuki, who's Song of the Minase Maiden weakens Master. After being defeated, Master turns back into Fanglongmon though rather than regular it was instead Fanglongmon Ruin Mode. It tries to go through the portal that had opened as a result of Miyuki's song opening it though the group fighting him. As they fight, they all hear the voices of other humans and learn that someone had recorded a video of Agumon fighting Piedmon. So many humans having watched the video causes all of the partner Kemonogami to power up, and also weakens Fanglongmon Ruin Mode. As the battle continues, Yukiha Minase possesses Miyuki and uses her to talk to Haruchika. She takes in some of the dark malice inside Fanglongmon Ruin Mode, which weakens it even further, with this finally allowing the group to defeat him. After his defeat, he reverts back to regular Fanglongmon. Yukiha states that every day after Haruchika was sacrificed she thought of him, and wanted to travel to alternate world as well but couldn't due to her responsibilities of the Minase clan. Upon being reunited with his sister, Haruchika regrets his actions and states that he will leave the world to them and will watch them as they do so, alongside Yukiha. They then leave, leaving the world in the hands of the humans. Master no longer being in charge of the alternate world causes both worlds to merge together once again. He travels to the human world with the others and lives with Akiharu there.
