Digimon 2 is a fanon live-action film idea created by CAJH. It is the sequel to Digimon and the fourth installment of the fanfictional media franchise idea known as the Digiversum. The story of the film is mostly original, but inspired by several elements from Digimon Adventure, Digimon Tamers and Digimon Data Squad continuities. The film was announced in June 4, 2016 and its synopsis was released in October 24, 2016. The sequel, Digimon 3, was released in January 9, 2017. The fourth film, Digimon: The Gathering, was released in May 15, 2017. The fifth film, Digimon: The Descending was released in June 24, 2017.

After purifying Dark Craters and researching Digimon and the Digiversum for two years as a Tamer, Tadao Deguchi and his friends gain three new members, but are deeply troubled when the governments of the world start to discover their existence through a mysterious man who seems to secretly drive his own sinister agenda.

Synopsis[]

(Only the most important details of the plot are written in here, minor details can be imagined by readers themselves. The same thing goes for any possible quotes from the dialogue.)

Birth of Guilmon[]

In Chicago, several months after Morrismon's rampage in New York, a schoolboy named Matthew "Matt" Thwaite has been drawing on a paper. He also watches some leaked video clips about the New York incident. He still remembered when it was reported on news. And despite media only reporting how Digicon International Enterprises and Ronald Yeoman are to blame for the incident, Matt realizes that the other Digimon fighting against Morrismon must be on the same side with those against Yeoman's actions. Matt had ever since become inspired by the event. After drawing for a while, he now finished his work with his own Digimon, which looked like a red reptile with yellow eyes and two wing-like appendages on its head. It also had black horizontal lines on its arms, legs, neck, back and tail.

On next night, Matt saw a dream where saw the same monsters from New York, except Morrismon. He also saw people with them, purifying several Dark Craters with their Digivices. But then Matt hears a dark voice coming from the Craters. After that he wakes up and sees something on his desk. It is a Digivice, but Matt didn't quite understand how to use it so he decides to find the people he saw in his dream in order to find out his destiny. But then, a drawing of a Digimon he himself idealized starts to glow and so does his Digivice.

New outbreak[]

Two years after the battle against Morrismon, the Tamers have been purifying remaining Dark Craters around the Digital Middle World as well as helping Digicon on its research about Yggdrasill, a dormant maintainer of the Digiversum existing in a form of large white tree. But now, a wall filled with DigiLetters was being attacked by a mole-like Digimon called Drimogemon. Drimogemon was attacked by Keisuke Ishimura and Kabuterimon who refused to let any vital information being destroyed. But they wondered why Drimogemon would do such a thing, since it's not a malevolent species. The virus created by Ronald Yeoman was believed to have been eliminated after Morrismon's defeat, but somehow Drimogemon was acting like it has been infected. But right now, they had to prevent the wall from being destroyed.

Keisuke contacted Sven Vestergaard, who was in Denmark, to scan Drimogemon's body with a program developed to detect anything unusual in them. The program was developed by Digicon and was made exclusively for smartphones and computers owned by the Tamers. Sven said that scanning would take few minutes. Keisuke needed help to restrain Drimogemon. Then Tadao Deguchi sent Agumon and Gabumon who had evolved into Greymon and Garurumon to help Kabuterimon. The three Partner Digimon managed to restrain Drimogemon and therefore prevent the destruction of the wall. Sven was checking Drimogemon's data and was fully able to confirm the worst fear: the virus still existed in the Digital Middle World and Drimogemon was infected. Others were unable to believe this at first, but then they remembered how Morrismon was able to download only infected Digimon, not the virus itself. And they never had checked how many viruses had survived without infecting anyone.

But then, something appeared. It was a flying drone-like mechanic device. It started shooting Drimogemon, forcing Greymon, Garurumon and Kabuterimon retreat. The drone managed to destroy Drimogemon's and stored its data inside. The Tamers had no idea what was this all about. They decided to return to the real world and think what to do next.

Meeting Akihiro Kurata[]

On next day, in Rieko Hirasawa's office, the Japanese Tamers and Sadaharu Deguchi were discussing the reason for what happened yesterday and what they discovered from the DigiLetters written in the wall. The human language written with these DigiLetters was Latin. Sven was luckily able to understand some of it and therefore was tasked to translate it into Japanese and English. He promised to do his best and surprised others by telling them that he was coming to Japan with his father in three days. But now they had to think about the mysterious drone they encountered. Then, Hirasawa was told that she had a guest waiting for her.

The guest asked to come inside the room and was revealed to be over 60 years old Japanese man who was a former mentor of Sadaharu and Ronald Yeoman. His name was Akihiro Kurata and he was one of Digicon's most efficient engineers and currently a board member of the company. Kurata revealed himself being the creator of the drone and that he only wanted to help. He told that the drone was actually an artificial Digimon named Gizmon, designed to become an alternative solution to protect the humanity. He would be able to mass produce them to make them more efficient than the Tamers, since there were only five humans with Partner Digimon. Nori Fujima was angry that Kurata was willing to kill a Digimon, but Kurata explained that he would be able to make Drimogemon be reborn, after extracting the virus from it. Kurata also told how he had known about the existence of the Digiversum at the same time with Sadaharu, Hirasawa and Yeoman. But he had been keeping it as a secret until the humanity would be ready for such revelation. Sadaharu was relieved his son may not need to fight anymore, but he and Hirasawa also wanted to first see whether Kurata would succeed recreating Drimogemon as a Digi-Egg. The company would discuss about the future of the Tamers and Kurata's project. Before Kurata left the office, he was given one thing from Keisuke: the source code of the antivirus program used to destroy Morrismon.

Tadao was angry at his father for showing at least some support for the Gizmon project. Sadaharu only wanted his son to have a normal life or at least complete his studies first. Keisuke defended Tadao, telling how he disliked sharing his information with those who used such an aggressive method to protect mankind. Sadaharu believed that the Digimon could one day live in harmony with the humans, but reminded that sometimes fighting cannot be avoided. He felt relieved that Kurata had discovered an artificial way to make a Digimon be reborn, something that the Digimon were current unable to do in the Digiversum. He too felt a little bit uneasy of his former mentor's methods and that is why he decided to become part of the project to ensure their ideals do not conflict.

Alisha's discovery[]

In Chicago, Alisha Jones was busy. She was looking for information about Matt Thwaite, whom she was suspecting to have a connection with the Digimon. Digicon had started a secret monitoring project to discover any activity related to the Digimon. Matt discovered to have his own Digivice, but his Partner Digimon had not been seen yet. Lalamon was not with her to avoid suspicions. Alisha had already found out that Matt's family owned a bakery and that their apartment was in the same building. Now she needed a way to approach Matt to make him an ally.

She stepped into the bakery as a customer, and was easily able to make Matt's parents to believe that she just wanted to try their products, since she really did show some interest in them. After seeing Matt having done his homework and going to his meet his friends, Alisha left the shop to follow him. Matt went into a park where he met his classmate Justin Alder and his older brother Thaddeus "Ted" Alder who was in the same high school with Alisha. Matt took his friends into a forsaken place with a cage. The cage was not locked, but there was something: it was a real version of the same Digimon Matt had idealized. Alisha's Digimon Analyzer identified the Digimon as Guilmon. But she was even more amazed when she found out that there was a hidden portal in the area into the Digital Middle World. After Matt, Guilmon, Justin and Ted had entered through it, Alisha got a phone call. She responded: "You're not going to believe what I just saw."

Kurata's takeover[]

Four days later, the Tamers were called in by Sadaharu and Hirasawa to hear Digicon's decision regarding their future. Sven and Gaomon were there already, but so was his father Herman Vestergaard who didn't seem very friendly. Sadaharu, Hirasawa and Kurata arrived to greet the Tamers and their Partner Digimon who had been brought into the real world. Sadaharu surprised the Tamers by telling that the meeting had not even started yet, because they had a problem: someone had leaked the government information about Digicon's secrets. There were news reports about it, but the building was soon surrounded by police officers and NPA members. Hisayoshi Ozawa, the Chief Cabinet Secretary of Japan himself arrived there as well. Tadao, Keisuke and Nori immediately suspected Kurata. Sadaharu was unable to believe it, but Kurata admitted that it was true. He activated several Gizmon he had materialized into the real world and they restrained the Partner Digimon. Hirasawa was furious with Kurata's actions and claimed that the humanity wasn't yet ready for the knowledge. Kurata countered this by saying that the humanity already knew that the Digimon were a threat to the humanity. He reminded how Yeoman himself had lost control of his project to destroy the Digimon and the Digiversum controlled solely by humans and that he would be the one to end it. Sadaharu realized that Kurata had been the true mastermind behind Project Getaway. Secretary Ozawa said that Kurata leaking information to them and testing Gizmon was all part of the operation to arrest Hirasawa and the company from lying to the government and endangering lives of underage middle school students. The company would be shut down and the building would now belong to the government. Everything about the Digimon would be released to the public and after few days, the United Nations would make an official statement for permitting to use the Gizmon to stop the Digimon threat for good.

Sadaharu reminded that it was the Tamers who stopped Morrismon from rampaging in the city. Secretary Ozawa said that their actions were considered as vigilantism and acting without any authorization from the government. Like it was the job of the police to capture criminals and the hob of the military to protect their country, it was the government who decided who would deal with the Digimon. Kurata, however, said that the Tamers should be happy that they can return to their normal life, since he had another invention along with the Gizmon: a real-life memory-altering device. He would remove all the memories of the Digimon from the Tamers' memories so they wouldn't be bothered anymore and there would be no need to make their existence public. The government had already approved the decision, so the Tamers would be powerless to stand against it. Herman, who was in league with Kurata, said that Sven's memories would be spared because his medical knowledge would be needed to use the knowledge of the Digiversum to discover the cure the Vestergaard family still needed to heal from the genetic disease they had. And this time Herman would not allow his son to turn against him.

Kurata prepared to use the device on Tadao first. Tadao sadly watched how Agumon and Gabumon were still restrained by Gizmon and how his Digivice had been confiscated by the police. But then, a portal opened, and Alisha appeared from it with Lalamon. They destroyed one of the Gizmon, while the other Partner Digimon destroyed others. Tadao used this time to escape. Sadaharu helped his son and Keisuke to take all Partner Digimon with them and escape with Alisha, while the officers restrained him once again and Kurata successfully used the memory-altering device on him and Nori. Hirasawa swore that the government would make a serious mistake by trusting Kurata, but Kurata countered this by saying that trusting Hirasawa was the actual mistake. He also said that Hirasawa's memory would not be wiped out just yet. But Kurata already prepare go into Deguchi apartment to alter the memory of Tadao's mother and Sadaharu's wife Mari who also knew about the Digimon.

Meeting the new Tamers[]

In Chicago, the FBI agents were approaching the bakery of Thwaite family, being already aware that Matt was a Tamer too. But when the agents arrived there, Matt was not home. He was running into the same place where Guilmon was kept hidden. He had received a warning from Alisha. And Matt used his phone to warn Justin and Ted as well. The three gathered into same place and managed to jump into the open portal with Guilmon right before the agents arrived.

Tadao, Keisuke, Agumon, Gabumon, Tentomon, Piyomon and Gaomon were already waiting for Alisha, Lalamon, and their new acquaintances. Matt was thrilled to meet the same people who had stopped Morrismon. Tadao wanted to know how Matt had become a Tamer. Matt explained how after realizing that the Digimon who defeated Morrismon were working together with humans, he wanted to create his own Digimon. He made a draft of Guilmon, but one night he had found a Digivice on his table and Guilmon had somehow become a real Digimon. The purpose of the Digivices was to make humans work together with the Digimon to protect the Digiversum from malevolent forces, but it appears whoever sent Matt his Digivice also give him a Partner Digimon he wanted. Alisha had heard about the secret when she had heard Matt and Justin talking about a Digimon one day and asked help from Ted to find out what it was. Ted had an overprotective nature and he immediately had wanted to figure out this secret. He originally wanted to tell the police, but was convinced by Alisha not to do it. But it was only four days ago that Matt and Justin had heard the truth about other Tamers. Justin and Ted also had something to tell. They too had received their own Digivices five days ago, but they had no idea who their Partner Digimon would be. The portal had also opened five days, but they had no idea how it had opened.

Due to the potential dangers, Ted was unsure about it, and Justin was unsure only because he didn't want to upset his older brother. Matt wanted to be a Tamer, but was also afraid that Guilmon would be taken away from him. Tadao and Keisuke promised to help them become new members of their team. Alisha had to leave, because she had to go to find a way to restore memories of Nori and Tadao's family. She also had to find a way to free Sven and Hirasawa to get even more people to help the Tamers to stop Kurata. Piyomon and Gaomon decided to with her. After they had left, Tadao asked if Keisuke had any ideas. Keisuke luckily had a laptop with him and could translate the first sentences written with the DigiLetters they had discovered from the wall. He also wondered if the new outbreak appearing at the same time with the Gizmon was really a coincidence.

Meeting Leomon[]

Kurata had started to mass-produce his Gizmon. He had already managed to convince the United Nations to let him deal with the Tamers in the Digital Middle World by himself, since no ordinary military weapon can harm the Digimon. The Gizmon were patrolling to find a suitable Digimon to be destroyed so its data can be collected. Leomon, a Digimon who looked like a lion humanoid watched the Gizmon and lamented how things in the Digital Middle World had only gone worse. He wished he could find the Tamers he had about from Elecmon, so he could help them. But a voice said that Leomon cared too much about protection and guarding areas. The voice belonged to Ogremon, Leomon's rival who thought Leomon simply tried to claim more honor. Leomon was tired of Ogremon's constant to urge to fight him but refused to let Ogremon from ever defeating him. They started to fight against each other.

Then, several Gizmon started to attack them. The two promised to postpone their battle for a while in order to protect themselves. Then, one of them started to evolve. Kurata had managed to create a pseudo evolution to make the Gizmon become more powerful. He called this Champion Level equivalent Gizmon-AT. Leomon and Ogremon were strong fighters and capable of defeating normal Gizmon easily, but they had to do harder work to defeat Gizmon-AT. The Tamers had just arrived while Greymon and Garurumon joined the battle with Leomon. They destroyed Gizmon-AT, but not before hearing a strange voice talking about a descending chaos. Matt recognized it being the same voice from his dream. None of the Tamers had any idea who it belonged, but Leomon had a very bad feeling about it. He asked whether the Tamers knew more about the Gizmon.

After hearing about Kurata's actions, Leomon told that the new virus outbreak and the Gizmon invasion had begun in the Digital Middle World at the same time: exactly one week ago. Leomon himself was a member of a small network which tried to protect the Digital Middle World. Even Agumon and Gabumon recognized him. Keisuke said that they met the infected Drimogemon and the first Gizmon only four days ago. Kurata had already been lying to them and they had reason to believe that the government didn't know the whole truth either. Then, Leomon sensed something and told everyone to hide. Several Gizmon were flying into the same way Ogremon had just gone. The group decided to follow them and find more possible connections between the new outbreak and the Gizmon invasion. Leomon warned the tamers that this will be their most dangerous adventure this far. The place where they would be going was full of several Dark Craters.

Rising tensions[]

Hirasawa was arrested once again, and none of her contacts has been able to find something to defend herself. But then, an electrical disturbance happened. Hirasawa remembered how portal disruptions caused Yeoman's Project Getaway had same effects. Something was crossing portals between the Digiversum and the real world. Then, people outside were panicked. Then, the NPA headquarters were damaged by a Digimon: an infected Tyrannomon. The military choppers were arriving into the place, trying to kill Tyrannomon, but no avail. Hirasawa saw how this would give her a chance to escape and go in hiding until something could be done to Kurata. But her escaping was cut short, when Tyrannomon seemed so focused on chasing her. Hirasawa stumbled and Tyrannomon approached her menacingly. She accepted her fate and apologized failing to help both Tamers and her company. And soon, Rieko Hirasawa, the last CEO of Digicon was killed. Alisha had seen this was saddened to see one of the people guiding her being killed. Kurata also witnessed Hirasawa's death through video footage provided by a hiding Gizmon. He then sent some of the Gizmon to destroy Tyrannomon and collect its data.

NPA and the military were horrified that Kurata was the only one capable of fighting against the threat. But the news reports around the country had the exact reaction Kurata hoped. Several announcers and civilians wished that all the Digimon would be wiped out completely and that the fugitives who resist Kurata's plans would be either imprisoned or executed. Sven was horrified to see this. But Herman said that assisting Kurata was the only way to find out whether the Digiversum would show a scientific way that can be used the cure their family. Sven's younger sister Kristin was luckily only 11 years old, but Sven himself was now 17 and the symptoms would begin show on him very soon. Sven swore to find proofs that Kurata can't be trusted, but needed to find a way distract his father. He had already managed to contact Alisha who was going to find a way to meet the only person who can tell them more about Kurata's plans.

Secretary Ozawa was easily convinced by Kurata that the Digimon had become a threat to mankind, but he also hoped that Kurata would keep the collateral damage minimal to secure their cooperation. He also informed that the entire government, including the Prime Minister agrees with this. But they needed to have the United Nations to ratify an agreement about having Kurata lead an organization that would continue to use the Gizmon to finish Ronald Yeoman's project by eliminating all the Digimon and taking over the Digiversum to have it exploited for the use of all mankind. Ozawa prepared to leave Kurata to do his work, but warned him not break any of his promises. After Ozawa had left, Kurata opened maps from both the Digital Middle World and the real world. It was revealed that he could track down the destination of each Tamer through their Digivices. He found out that Alisha was currently in New York.

Visiting Yeoman[]

The place where Alisha and Lalamon had gone was a prison. And this prison was the one where Ronald Yeoman had been imprisoned. They had managed to find out the right cell. Yeoman was surprised that he was visited by a Tamer. He didn't blame Tamers of anything since he had been able to think more clearly after his arrest. He had realized that Morrismon's birth was a clear sign that the power from the Dark Craters had made him lose control of the virus. Alisha urged him to hurry about giving information. She wanted to know more about Kurata. Yeoman simply said that Kurata had been mentoring him and Sadaharu as well as few other scientists and engineers who came from other countries at the same time they found out the existence of the Digiversum. Yeoman said that conquering it for humanity was completely his own idea, while Kurata is the one who provided him with more information. Alisha asked how Kurata had so much information even 20 years ago. Yeoman confessed that Kurata had known about the Digiversum 10 years before the disaster. Kurata's teachings had convinced him to believe that the Digimon could have not been living beings and that even the Dark Craters were nothing but pure data. But now Yeoman was certain that Kurata had been manipulating him all along.

But then, the electrical disturbances opened the door to Yeoman's cell and a portal appeared. Kurata was standing in the middle of it. He told how Yeoman's portal technology combined to the knowledge copied from the Digivices had given him everything he needed to finish his true plans. Yeoman asked why Kurata helped him if he didn't want to help humanity evolve. Kurata just told him that Yeoman would see it with his own eyes. But first Kurata brought two Gizmon from the portal to restrain Alisha, Lalamon and Yeoman. He said how altering memories was too kind way to stop the Tamers and now he was ready to do something worse. Kurata took his prisoners through the portal and closed it before any prison guards reached the place.

Finding the Dark Pit[]

Tadao's group followed the Gizmon into a place where was the largest Dark Crater of the Digital Middle World in the middle of it. Leomon told that the place was the Dark Pit which was once one of several bases of operations for the same great evil that caused the disaster in the Digiversum several years ago. But the place started to look more like a laboratory. There seemed to be several tanks with something blue and glowing inside them. Keisuke recognized them as several copies of Yeoman's virus. And it seemed that the Gizmon were dropping some of the data they had collected into the large Dark Crater. Tadao and Keisuke knew now that Kurata was truly behind the new outbreak. They also received a message from Alisha about Hirasawa's death. The new outbreak was meant to turn the humanity against the natural Digimon and the Gizmon were meant to be a weapon to destroy them. Leomon says he senses something that he thought no longer existed, but that's when the ground started to shake.

Something was rising from the crater. It was a large demonic creature. Matt who had already learned to use his own Digimon Analyzer checked the information and found out that it was called Abaddomon. Leomon was surprised about this. Abaddomon was one of the servants of the same evil force behind the disaster all those years ago, but Leomon and his allies had not been aware that Abaddomon had survived from it. But it was more surprising that the Gizmon seemed work together with the Gizmon. Matt, Justin and Ted were unable to believe that any human would work together with an evil Digimon, but Tadao and Keisuke had never trusted Kurata. It was no surprising that Kurata would also wish to destroy humanity as well. Leomon had seen the Gizmon gather data from other Dark Craters and now they seemed to bring it into the Dark Pit. The larger amount of dark power in one place could disturb the balance between the worlds very badly. But then, they saw something. Ogremon, Alisha and Lalamon captured. There were two other captives too. Keisuke analyzed them as Bearmon and Kotemon. Justin's and Ted's Digivices started to react somehow.

But then they needed to get quiet. Abaddomon started to talk with someone. It was glowing holographic image of Kurata. Abaddomon was pleased to hear how the humanity almost completely trusted Kurata and how the Gizmon can collect every single data from both the Dark Craters and the infected Digimon. Kurata, however, warned his master that they were being spied. His artificial Digivice had sensed the presence of the Tamers. The Tamers had no choice but to fight. Abaddomon, however, needed time for his other plans and left the Gizmon and the infected Digimon deal with his enemies. The Gizmon were immune to the virus because Keisuke found his own antivirus program downloaded in them by Kurata. But the Gizmon could use the virus to infect several imprisoned Digimon. And unfortunately, Ogremon had become one of them. Agumon, Gabumon and Tentomon evolved into Greymon, Garurumon and Kabuterimon. Leomon advised Matt to use his Digivice too. Matt had never made Guilmon evolve, but now the time had come. Guilmon evolved into a Digimon named Growmon and joined the battle. Alisha was also free and Lalamon evolved into Sunflowmon to join the battle as well.

Sven's escape[]

Meanwhile, Sven was still under the pressure of his father and chatting through web camera with his sister. Kristin greatly adored her brother, but was completely unaware of the disease she and her family were suffering. Sven promised that they would see again very soon. Sven was alone in his laboratory. Sven had been secretly trying hack into Kurata's files to find proofs against him and a way to undo the memory alteration done to Nori and Tadao's parents. He tried contact Tadao and Keisuke, but no avail. He had to do his escape now. He secretly left the laboratory and managed to sabotage its security system. However, Kurata's artificial Digivice sensed the disturbance and the government agents left to stop Sven's plan. Herman went with them and saw how Sven was about to go into the Digital Middle World with Gaomon who had returned. Sven said he wanted to cure his family, but not with ways Herman was willing to do. But then Sven started to feel sick, meaning that the disease symptoms had finally started to show up. Herman said that he had only told Sven about the disease because his exceptional medical skills can help find the cure for their disease before Kristin can even start feeling its symptoms. But Sven has decided to tell his sister the truth and that finding the disease is not worth destroying the Digimon. Kurata then tells he has already found a cure for Kristin, but promises to use it only if Sven decides to stay. Sven, however, had made his choice and uses a portal opened to escape. Herman decides to contact the staff of his mansion to bring Kristin into Berlin where the United Nations would also ratify the agreement about reviving Digicon's Project Getaway and making Kurata its official leader. However, Herman heard that Kristin was nowhere to be found. Kurata was certain that they would be back, since he knew the Tamers would eventually to arrive to confront him.

Establishing new partnerships[]

The several Gizmon as well as five infected Digimon: Ogremon, Seadramon, Tyrannomon, Andromon and Meteormon. Seadramon and Tyrannomon were Champion Level, but Andromon and Meteormon were Ultimate Level. Growmon was powerful and able to destroy several normal Gizmon, but the Gizmon-AT were more powerful. Greymon and Garurumon tried to face Andromon together, but weren't powerful enough. Leomon recognized Andromon as one of the fellow protectors of the Digital Middle World, but was visibly shocked that the virus was able to infect even Ultimate Level Digimon. Then, a Gizmon tried to infect Leomon. It was stopped but a small amount the virus' data ended up into Leomon's body.

Justin and Ted freed Bearmon and Kotemon who explained being part of two rivaling tribes before being captured by the Gizmon. After several other tribesmen had tired themselves from battles, the Gizmon had killed a majority of them. Bearmon and Kotemon, however, had been spared for an unknown reason. When the Digivices of the Alder brother started to react again, they wondered whether the two were meant to be their Partner Digimon. Matt asked them to come to help, so Justin used his Digivice to evolve Bearmon into Gryzmon and Ted used his own to evolve Kotemon into Dinohumon. Eight Champion Level Digimon, seven of them being Partner Digimon, could fight efficiently against the Gizmon and the infected Digimon, but they needed the antivirus program to stop them. Luckily, Sven had sent Gaogamon to bring the antivirus. They downloaded them into their Digivices once again, with Matt, Justin and Ted doing it this time too. Each of them would be able to cure Ogremon, Seadramon and Tyrannomon, but curing Andromon and Meteormon required teamwork. Problems became much worse after the infection started to become stronger in Leomon and turned him violent too.

Ultimate Evolution[]

Kurata had contacted Abaddomon again after Abaddomon had reached his true headquarters where his true servants resided. He told his master to hurry, because Kurata had to prepare for his flight to Berlin. Abaddomon reminded that Kurata had no right to order him and told that the full potential of the Gizmon must be unleashed today. He sensed that even the Gizmon-AT weren't powerful enough to defeat the Tamers. Kurata explained that he had simply been busy to initiate testing the most powerful form of Gizmon, but promised to do it quickly. He used his artificial Digivice and then Kurata said he would contact later. He took a mysterious indigo disk and put it into a suitcase.

Meanwhile, in the Dark Pit, one of the Gizmon-AT started to glow. It evolved into Gizmon-XT, the Ultimate Level equivalent. The Tamers were in trouble. Seadramon and Tyrannomon were cured and fought against the Gizmon too. But Leomon, Ogremon, Andromon and Meteormon were still infected. Now they had to fight against three Ultimate Level Digimon, which was even greater challenge than fighting against Morrismon. The Tamers were about to give up, but Tadao refused to do so. He believed that there was a way to defeat even the opponents who were so powerful. Then, his Digivices as well as Greymon and Garurumon started to glow. They evolved into their own Ultimate forms: MetalGreymon and WereGarurumon. Everyone was amazed that Tadao's partners had managed to evolve further, even Alisha who was the most experienced of the Tamers.

MetalGreymon and WereGarurumon were able to damage Gizmon-XT, but then it started to leave as well as the rest of the Gizmon. The infected Leomon, Ogremon, Andromon and Meteormon were still left. Then, Leomon regained his senses and resisted the infection. This gave Keisuke a chance to cure him. Leomon then tried to talk to Andromon and tell him to resist the virus as well. Andromon started to come to his senses as well. The infection was weaker against the Ultimate Level Digimon and was only barely able to conquer their bodies. Andromon managed to control himself until he was cured as well. But Ogremon and Meteormon left the place by jumping into a portal.

Reunion of the Tamers[]

Sven had traveled back into the real world and had arrived into Nori's home. He took up his laptop and flashing views of a certain computer program made her remember Piyomon again. She wanted to know where Piyomon is. Sven promised to tell it once they would reach Tadao's home. They arrived there and met with their friends. Tadao's sister Yoko was also aware of the existence of the Digimon. Matt, Justin and Ted had been brought there as well, and there was one more guest: Kristin Vestergaard. Sven had explained he had told her about the disease and their father's madness. Kristin was both sad and happy. She had faith in his brother and liked Gaomon's politeness. But she was shocked that her father would want to help eliminate the Digimon only to get a cure. Sven remembered how Kurata said that he had the cure, but he would have wanted to prove his skills by discovering it himself. Keisuke said that the most important thing was that the cure does exist.

Nori wondered how Piyomon and Gaomon managed to survive while they were on their own. Sven revealed that he had contacted Elecmon and let them stay on the Shrine of Rebirth. Leomon told them that the Shrine was destroyed by the Gizmon only few hours ago. Elecmon was alive but went into hiding with Andromon. Now the Tamers had to concentrate on their goal: they needed to interrupt the United Nations conference in Berlin and convince the entire world of Kurata's true nature. Mari asked her husband whether they had any proof against him. Sven had managed to steal one but very important file with hacking skills taught by Keisuke. And Alisha told that she had found information about Hirasawa's former contacts. They could also assist them to solve this problem without the Tamers getting into trouble with governments. Kristin would stay with Elecmon.

Confronting Kurata[]

In Berlin, the United Nations prepared for its meeting for ratifying the agreement. Kurata was welcomed by politicians from other countries and pretended to be honored to meet them and be there. Herman was attending the meeting too. But right when the meeting was about to begin, two Digimon were reported to attack nearby. People prepared to run away from the building while Kurata said that he would materialize the Gizmon to deal with the problem. But then, a portal opened. The Tamers stepped through it with their Partner Digimon and with the remaining technology from Digicon they hacked the screens around the world. They told that the Digimon were not entirely malevolent and how a virus created by Yeoman was originally meant to wipe them out. They also explained Kurata had known about the Digiversum for a long time and was working with Abaddomon. Security guards surrounded them and the politicians refused to believe the Tamers as well as Sadaharu who had come with them. Keisuke prepared to show their proof, but Kurata said it won't be necessary. He revealed that everything the Tamers say is true. Everyone was shocked about this. The security guards prepared to arrest Kurata, but several Gizmon appeared and electrocuted the guards. Kurata also brought Yeoman into the meeting room, restrained by one Gizmon.

Sadaharu asked from his former mentor why he would be willing to ally himself Abaddomon. Kurata told how all wars, economic depressions and environmental disasters had made lose his faith in humanity at very young age. Ever since he had found out the existence of the Digiversum, he had believed that the knowledge about it would help him make the world better place. But after witnessing the same disaster that devastated most of the Digiversum, he lost his hope completely. Kurata had then come into conclusion that instead of resisting evil and corruption, it was better to join forces with it. Yeoman said he originally was willing to destroy the Digimon only because he thought they were merely data. Kurata revealed that Morrismon's birth was exactly what he wanted, since the Gizmon were also designed to collect the data of the deceased Digimon as well as use the distorting powers of the virus for Abaddomon's grand plan. Yeoman was angered by Kurata's betrayal, but was unable to do anything. Even Chief Cabinet Secretary Ozawa, who had seen the broadcast as well, was angry.

Sven asked his father whether he truly agreed with a madman like Kurata. Herman said that his family matters to him so much that sacrificing others is worth it. But then Sven opened up his own laptop and showed Kristin through a web camera. Kristin said she refused to be cured from her disease with such a terrible price. She and Sven both were willing to disown their father. Herman claimed that the Tamers had turned his children against him, but the people treated both him and Kurata with an angry glare.

The Battle of Berlin[]

Then, Ogremon and Meteormon started to approach the building, and the Partner Digimon went through the windows and evolved to their Champion forms to face them. Leomon appeared through a portal to help the Partner Digimon. He also thought it was his duty to free Ogremon. But then, a legion of Gizmon and Gizmon-AT appeared as well. Greymon and Garurumon immediately evolved into their Ultimate forms to be able to fight against Meteormon. The battle was intense and the Partner Digimon tried to avoid any of the Gizmon from hurting any humans.

After witnessing the battle, Matt hoped that Growmon wouldn't be hurt. He had already been afraid that his partner would be taken away from him, but now he had other Tamers and Partner Digimon to protect it. Tadao was only now about to understanding how devastating consequences the Digimon battles can have. He hoped that the battle could just be taken back into the Digital Middle World. Keisuke asked Kabuterimon and Birdramon to take Tadao into the battlefield to allow the Partner Digimon to use the antivirus again. After the ride given by Kabuterimon, Tadao used his Digivices on MetalGreymon, WereGarurumon and Leomon who managed to cure both Ogremon and Meteormon. But then, a portal opened and Abaddomon's hand appeared from it. It took Ogremon back into the Digital Middle World. Leomon decided to go through the same portal to figure out where Abaddomon currently was, while Meteormon jumped through another portal which was opened by Keisuke and Nori. Then the portals just closed themselves.

Kurata's last revelations[]

After Tadao, Keisuke and Nori returned, Kurata was furious and tried to use his artificial Digivice to evolve some of his Gizmon and Gizmon-AT into Gizmon-XT. Tadao tried to take the Digivice from him and threw it in Sven's hands. Sven told Kurata to reveal what was the cure for the disease his family suffered from. Kurata's anger turned into smile and he told that he knew the origin of the disease as well. He revealed that he had several other devices with him and used one of them to accelerate Herman's disease. Herman felt a great pain inside his body and collapsed into the floor. Sven started to feel pain too, so did Kristin in Tokyo. Keisuke realized that the disease was Kurata's creation. And Yeoman revealed that Kurata worked as a secret consultant in Project Getaway by providing knowledge about teleportation into cyberspace, but he had no idea that Kurata would have been able to materialize something from the Digiversum even before the project started.

Kurata explained that the disease was in fact a materialized program put inside Herman's body and was inherited by Sven and Kristin. He revealed that because of the acceleration Herman doesn't have much time left. Sven was furious that threw the Digivice into the floor to break it, hoping that it would shut down the Gizmon. Kurata burst into maniacal laugh. He explained that all Gizmon were programmed into evolve into Gizmon-XT if the Digivice would be destroyed. It also activated a force field around Kurata's body. No bullet or human hands could go through it. Kurata took his briefcase where the mysterious indigo disk was kept and destroyed the file he claimed would reveal a cure to the Vestergaard disease. He said that the Gizmon-XT would also be programmed to kill as many humans and cause as much destruction as they could. All the remaining Gizmon were now in Berlin and would eventually be done with the real world while Kurata would leave into the Digital Middle World to finish the other half of the plan he and Abaddomon were about to execute.

Sadaharu asked the "other half" is. Kurata said that killing several Digimon, collecting their data and fusing it with the data collected from the Dark Craters was the first half of the great plan to finish what the battle that ended with the disaster in the Digiversum failed to do. He said that humanity had no idea what originally cause that event. The indigo disk Kurata revealed to the others was part of the second half. Keisuke what the disk would do. Kurata said that they would only live to see it if they would stop the Gizmon. He, however, stopped the acceleration of the disease of Sven and Kristin, but Herman had already succumbed to it. He then destroyed the accelerator as well and entered into a portal opened by one of his other devices, laughing even more maniacally. The Tamers were shocked about what had just happened: all the Gizmon had evolved into Gizmon-XT to wipe out the humanity, Herman Vestergaard was dead, and Akihiro Kurata had escaped into the Digital Middle World.

Victory of the Ultimates[]

The Partner Digimon had separated themselves into several groups to defeat the Gizmon-XT. MetalGreymon and Growmon formed the first group; WereGarurumon, Gaogamon and Gryzmon were the second group; Birdramon and Kabuterimon were the third group; and the last group was formed by Sunflowmon and Dinohumon. However, after battling for a while, Birdramon, Kabuterimon, Gryzmon and Dinohumon were forced to degenerate to their Rookie forms. But then, Sven, who still maintained a belief that the disease of his family can be cured, told that he had faith in Gaogamon, who was his best friend, not just a servant. This made Gaogamon capable of evolving further and becoming MachGaogamon. Now the Tamers had three Ultimate Level Digimon on their side. Alisha also decided that it was time to allow Sunflowmon to unlock her true potential as well. She managed to make her evolve into her own Ultimate form: Lilamon. Growmon wasn't an Ultimate Level Digimon, but was able to stand against the Gizmon-XT with help of his four friends. The people who understood them as heroes cheered on them. The encouragement made the Partner Digimon feel themselves even more powerful.

Finally, only one Gizmon-XT was remaining. It managed to open a portal on its own and attempted to send all the data collected by the Gizmon into the Digital Middle World for Kurata and Abaddomon. When the Tamers thought about finding Kurata's whereabouts by jumping, Sadaharu stopped them from doing so. Because of the data stream made of the energy from the Dark Craters, their bodies could become corrupted and they wouldn't reach their destination without being either mutated or killed. The Tamers had no choice but to destroy the remaining Gizmon-XT and allow the portal to close itself.

The battle was won, but the war was only about to begin. Kurata and Abaddomon were still active and the Tamers had no idea what the disk in Kurata's possession would do. The United Nations decided to change the agreement and create a network to collaborate with the Tamers as well as find new methods of fighting against threats materialized from the digital environment. The Tamers wondered whether they were actually some kind of government agents now, but Sadaharu explained that the network was meant to allow the government simply to oversee and authorize their actions.

Preparing for war[]

In the Digital Middle World, Kurata had found his way into a large dark cave where Abaddomon resided with his subordinates. Kurata showed he still had all the data he could use to create several new Gizmon and that they don't need to use the virus to infect the Digimon anymore. Abaddomon said it was exactly as they had planned. There were still other things the virus could be used for. Kurata also gave Abaddomon the indigo disk which was put into a stone table which was decorated with bones and contained two other disks, colored purple and yellow. He also watched Leomon and Ogremon who were both imprisoned.

Meanwhile, in the Digital Middle World, the Tamers met with each other, because the translation of the DigiLetters written in the wall they found was now complete. It contained a text: "One light can alone protect only one world. Each world has its own lights. Only by connecting the worlds from each side, can every light be truly connected against the darkness. But no connection can be made until both sides have used their keys." Sadaharu reminded the Tamers how they already knew that their Digivices were currently able to take them only into the Digital Middle World. So, in order to reach the other worlds in the Digiversum they had to find people who can access into those other worlds. They could use their Digivices to reactivate the portals to the other worlds of the Digiversum but no return from them unless someone reactivates the portals back into the Digital Middle World. Alisha asked whether they knew where to find people to do that for them. Sadaharu said they already had found other activity related to the Digiversum. The Network, as it was called, had explored secret information kept by Kurata. They contained a photo from Detroit which barely showed a blue dragon-like Digimon and an article from Japanese newspaper telling about Kaiji Komiyama, a boy from Tokyo who reappeared a couple months ago after disappearing for a year. Both had nothing to do with the Digital Middle World, so there were already people and Digimon involved with the other worlds of the Digiversum.

Trivia[]

  • The main focuses of the film are the first revelations about greater evil as well as these certain personal storylines for some of the main characters:
    • Tadao learning how devastative the battles he participates in can really be.
    • Sven trying to finally free himself from his father's expectations.
    • Matt discovering that being a Tamer is much harder than he thinks.
    • Justin and Ted learning to embrace their duty as Tamers.
  • The idea of adding Justin, Ted, Bearmon and Kotemon as characters to the film was inspired by Digimon World 3.
  • Akihiro Kurata is based on a character with the same name from Digimon Data Squad, but this version is much more malevolent.
  • Rieko Hirasawa was killed off because there wasn't much use for the character anymore.
  • Lalamon and Guilmon are the only Partner Digimon who have no dialogue at all.
  • Abaddomon was included in the film to make him a recurring antagonist.
  • Unlike the first film, Digimon 2 has several easter eggs. Those include a photo of Veemon from V-Tamer and the article of Kaiji Komiyama's return after his disappearance for one year from Spirit Frontier. The most notable easter egg were the three disks that hinted the appearance of the Seven Great Demon Lords.
    • Having the indigo-colored disk appear in more scenes than one was a reference to Belphemon whose revival was part of the scheme of the Data Squad version of Kurata.

Sequels[]

Digimon 3 was announced in August 7, 2016. It was released in January 9, 2017 as the eighth installment of the Digiversum, after V-Tamer: 2nd Round, DigiFuse and Spirit Frontier Decem. All surviving characters from Digimon 2 returned in Digimon 3, with Vincent "Vince" Haldman, Veemon/Veedramon, Jiro Ichida, Gomamon and Arkadimon from V-Tamer films joining them. Digimon 3 also featured Abaddomon taking much more active role and his true plan was finally revealed. The fourth main film, Digimon: The Gathering and its sequel, Digimon: The Descending, unite the characters of Spirit Frontier and DigiFuse films with the main characters to stop the ultimate force that threatens the universe. They act as the final chapters of the Reconfiguration Saga, while the remaining main films form a new saga, referred as the Quantum Wars Saga.
