Digimon 2021 film series
Digimon 2021 fanon film 01
Story: CAJH
Screenwriters: N/A
Films: 2 (10 more ideas being drafted)

Digimon 2021 film series is a fanon live-action media franchise idea started by CAJH, the creator of Digimon Cinematic Sagas and The Digiversum. After cancelling the final ideas of his previous two film franchise ideas, he decided to start a new one, with the intention of finally making one last franchise idea without cancelling it before it finishes, and hoping to make his third and final film series idea into less ”fanfictional”. This time CAJH was also more open for ideas from other fan fiction makers if those ideas can find proper places in the story.

This far some of the plot points and story ideas are based on 1999 Digimon Adventure and 2020 Digimon Adventure: continuities and the recurring elements from the Digimon mythology. The main characters also start in the age of 9-13 and the film series idea is developed to tell about their time as the Chosen Ones to the age of 19-23.

The project started in December 2020 and instead of writing longest plot descriptions as possible, the articles are meant to include an early story draft lists, with the intention of updating them later with help from other FANDOM users who wish to contribute.

Note: The current list of the drafted installments is only based on CAJH’s ideas. If more people wish to put their own ideas or changes, some titles may be removed or renamed.

Development

While discussing with CLTwins15 about potential story ideas that were left out of Cinematic Sagas and the Digiversum, CAJH made a decision to make a third film series idea. He also planned that this time the story would start with main characters being 11 years old, two years younger than the main characters of the Cinematic Sagas or Digiversum. And no government organizations or private companies are involved. CAJH also hoped that he could have multiple people join his ”Digimon 2021 Fan Fiction Film Series Story Idea Group” to help develop this fan fiction. The project, however, proceeded without CLTwins15 due to creative differences about one character from CLTwins15's own fan fictions.

The previous film series ideas had also started before real-life anime film Digimon Adventure: Last Evolution Kizuna as well as the Digimon Adventure:, reboot of the Adventure continuity, premiered. And CAJH wished to adapt some of the new villains to these new stories. Although CAJH liked the stories he wrote, he came to consider that Cinematic Sagas was too dependent of adapting existing stories and that the idea of the Digiversum as a shared universe didn't sound like something a real filmmaker would be very likely to do. And he also admired the idea of Adventure: making the threats of the Digital World affect the real world through technological problems rather than disrupting the interdimensional balance.

CAJH was also interested of the approach used by Harry Potter films and Marvel Cinematic Universe's Spider-Man films of having each sequel take one school year later than its predecessor. He also planned from the very beginning that Devimon would be the first recurring antagonist of the fan fiction film series. He also planned that Tyler Whitaker, Hikari Yagami and Will Dunham would not participate in battles during the first film, ”making them new members, in a way” in the sequel.

CAJH hoped to make one of the films focus completely on Armor Evolution and introduce characters based on Adventure 02. He was also considering a possibility of introducing Vamdemon in a potential film set between Light and Dark and Armorization and make Devimon die before Armorization, but finally decided decided to use Devimon a little bit longer. Armorization was made into ”Chapter Two and Half” instead of ”Chapter Three”, due to the original six Chosen Ones being only supporting characters.

In November 2021, CAJH decided to rework his idea so that films would the story would not be too rushed and there would not be too many villains in one film. Dyson Motomiya, Kenneth ”Ken” Ellsworth, Milena Iglesias, Jonathan ”Jonny” Hicks, Will Dunham, and Meiko Mochizuki were introduced in later installments. Blair Samson is completely removed from the storyline.
