Espimon is the Partner Digimon of Altea in the Digimon Liberator web novel.
Appearance[]
Description[]
Espimon is super-serious and stiff Digimon, the kind that never cracks a smile at any joke. However, for some reason, Altea's puns hit just the right spot, making it burst out laughing every time. It genuinely believes its partner is the greatest comedian in the virtual world.[1]
Fiction[]
Digimon Liberator DEBUG[]
At some point after Yao Qinglan created Altea, Espimon became partners with him. Both it and Altea have GM status, and primarily work from the Garden in an administrative role, also supporting the debugging team.[2]
When Altea sends Yuuki, Winr, and Ryutaro Williams out to deal with some cheaters — Espimon tells Tyrannomon not to allow anyone to run towards Lapis Stadium Tower as the debugging team were testing a player who had taken out an NPC there to see if he was a good fit as a new member of the team. DEBUG.3-1 Ryutaro
Espimon was stood on the stage behind Cool Boy when Cool Boy and Omekamon introduced Shoto Kazama and Arisa Kinosaki, the debug team's newest members. Select Few (Part 1)
Yao spent eight months creating a virtual version of Shinjuku so that she could would take Altea to a virtual recreation of part of the outside world, as he had asked her if she could take him to the outside world. She doesn't end up taking him herself though, he and Espimon instead go with Cool Boy. Altea and Espimon have fun, then after having their fill — discuss business. Cool Boy asks him what he thinks of Maquinamon, with Altea saying he didn't think they were a threat. Cool Boy agrees, since they're weak and lack the primal desire to seek competition. He asks what they should do with them, though Altea says that he should ask Unchained instead. Espimon makes the suggestion to create an isolated environment, where they would live on their own — then suggests the area they're currently in. Cool Boy says that whilst it's possible, it isn't really optimal, and that they would have to spend a long time figuring out a place they could actually stay. Altea says he will continue to analyze the Maquinamon data, and brings up how there's another member of the debug team that has a partner who is composed of biological and mechanical components like Maquinamon. Cool Boy then says how said member had actually been invited to their meeting and should be arriving soon. Shortly after saying that, Chitose Horaiji arrives. He mentions how they had questions about Composite type Digimon, and as Altea brings up how Chitose was the first person to deal with a rampaging Ultimate level Digimon – Cool Boy leaves as he had a meeting to attend. Chitose confirms the story, saying that he had dealt with a Kimeramon – with it having become his partner as a dedigivolved Gazimon. He then summons Gazimon to meet Altea. DEBUG.5-1 Altea Chitose and Altea duel so that Altea can learn more about Composite type Digimon, with Altea winning. Chitose apologizes for insulting Altea just because he's an AI, which Altea quickly forgives. Altea says what he learned from the duel, and that he thinks Maquinamon probably isn't a Composite type Digimon. Chitose asks why, with Altea saying that it learned from the duel that a Composite type Digimon needs to be at a certain level to be be able to properly control itself — and whilst Kimeramon and Machinedramon were Ultimate and Mega Digimon respectively, Deltamon was only a Champion and was not in full control of itself. Seeing this, he figured it would be impossible for the Rookie level Maquinamon to control itself if it were a Composite. Chitose wonders instead if it came about as a result of a mutation, though Altea doubts this hypothesis since there are so many of them and that it is, instead, a Digimon who intrinsically embodies the opposing notions of nature and civilization. Altea says that if they intend to protect the Maquinamon, they needed to research it more — with Chitose agreeing. DEBUG.5-2 SHINJUKU GIANT
Other forms[]
MetalKoromon[]
MetalKoromon is Espimon's Fresh form.
MetalKoromon is depicted on BT20-005: Kapurimon, with said card part of the stack Espimon possesses during Altea's duel with Chitose Horaiji. DEBUG.5-2 SHINJUKU GIANT
Kapurimon[]
Kapurimon is Espimon's In-Training form.
BT20-005: Kapurimon is part of the stack Espimon possesses during Altea's duel with Chitose Horaiji. It gives its various digivolutions the inherited Jamming ability, meaning they couldn't die in security battles. DEBUG.5-2 SHINJUKU GIANT
HoverEspimon[]
HoverEspimon is one of Espimon's Champion forms.
BT20-015: HoverEspimon is part of the stack Espimon possesses during Altea's duel with Chitose Horaiji. Altea moves HoverEspimon to the Battle Area, uses his Tamer effect to put a Blimpmon under HoverEspimon as another digivolution source — and then digivolves it to BT20-052: Oblivimon. He later uses Oblivimon's effect to de-digivolve and place itself face up as the bottom card of his security. HoverEspimon continues the attack in Oblivimon's place, and uses its carried over Jamming effect to survive. Altea finishes his turn by digivolving HoverEspimon into Bulbmon, though Chitose uses BT18-073: Machinedramon's effect to de-digivolve it back to HoverEspimon. He then uses BT19-070: Kimeramon On Play effect to delete HoverEspimon, though it doesn't effect Espimon as it seemingly transferred its consicousness over to the Invisimon in the security — which plays itself on the field at the end of the turn. Altea then uses his Tamer effect to put a replacement HoverEspimon under Invisimon. DEBUG.5-2 SHINJUKU GIANT
Blimpmon[]
Blimpmon is one of Espimon's Champion forms.
During Altea's duel with Chitose Horaiji, Altea uses the effect of BT20-086: Altea to put a Blimpmon card under the partner possessed BT20-015: HoverEspimon as a new digivolution source, causing Blimpmon to become one of its prior forms. This allowed its further digivolutions to use its inherited effects. DEBUG.5-2 SHINJUKU GIANT
Oblivimon[]
Oblivimon is one of Espimon's Ultimate forms.
During Altea's duel with Chitose Horaiji, Altea digivolves HoverEspimon to BT20-052: Oblivimon. He activates the When Digivolving effect of Oblivimon, flipping the next face down security card face up. Altea has Oblivimon attack Chitose's security, and then as it just attacked a face up security card he activates the inherited effect of BT20-005: Kapurimon — which gives Oblivimon Jamming (it can't die in security battles). He then uses Oblivimon's effect to de-digivolve and place itself face up as the bottom card of his security. At the end of Chitose's turn, Oblivimon uses its face up security effect to play itself for free on Altea's field. On Altea's turn, he uses his Tamer effect to put a HoverEspimon under Oblivimon, then digivolves it to BT20-055: Invisimon. Altea has Invisimon attack security, and as it was checking a face up card — he dedigivolves it to Oblivimon and puts Invisimon face up at the bottom of his security. Oblivimon survives the battle, and Altea pays 4 memory to digivolve it to BT20-058: Raidenmon. DEBUG.5-2 SHINJUKU GIANT
Bulbmon[]
Bulbmon is one of Espimon's Ultimate forms.
During Altea's duel with Chitose Horaiji, Altea digivolves HoverEspimon to an unspecified Bulbmon card. Chitose then pays 3 memory to digivolve BT18-050: Kimeramon to BT18-073: Machinedramon, then uses its When Digivolving effect to de-digivolve Bulbmon back to HoverEspimon. DEBUG.5-2 SHINJUKU GIANT
Invisimon[]
Invisimon is one of Espimon's Mega forms.
During Altea's duel with Chitose Horaiji, Altea digivolves Oblivimon to BT20-055: Invisimon then uses its When Digivolving to de-digivolve BT18-019: Millenniummon twice — it now being Deltamon. The rest of the effect flips up one of Chitose's security cards, and tries and fails to delete one of Chitose's Digimon with 1 or fewer digivolution sources (Deltamon has 2). Altea has Invisimon attack security, and as it was checking a face up card — he dedigivolves it to Oblivimon and puts Invisimon face up at the bottom of his security. DEBUG.5-2 SHINJUKU GIANT
Raidenmon[]
Raidenmon is one of Espimon's Mega forms.
During Altea's duel with Chitose Horaiji, Altea digivolves Oblivimon to BT20-058: Raidenmon. He uses its When Digivolving effect to delete a Digimon with less than 8 Play Cost, and deletes Deltamon. The rest of the duel is skipped, with Altea winning. DEBUG.5-2 SHINJUKU GIANT
