Erika Mishima (御島 エリカ Mishima Erika?) is a character in Digimon Story: Cyber Sleuth - Hacker's Memory. She is the younger sister of Ryuji Mishima and also a member of the Hacker Team Hudie. Her Enjoy! Chat avatar is a Morpho Butterfly named Bu773rfly.

Appearance[]

Erika wears her Blue Hudie coat like a cape while sporting a yellow, thigh-length, sleeveless dress with frills underneath and white slippers. A small plush whale named Toto sits on her coat's left shoulder and uses big whale plush named Memetan that acts as her keyboard.

Description[]

Erika is a member of the Hudie hacker team. She and her big brother have been alone since they lost their parents in a car accident several years ago. Extremely shy, she spends so much time shut away at the net cafe where Hudie is based that most people call it "Erika's room". Since she suffered a serious head injury in the accident that killed her parents, her mind has been linked to a special server on the EDEN network to reduce the load on her brain. As a side effect, she now possesses genius hacking abilities.[3] The disease causes her brain to rapidly process more information than it normally should and she has been in and out of the hospital because of this. Erika is described as a tsundere by her brother and Chitose and gets annoyed at Chitose saying that she is "not feminine", but her behavior changes after Keisuke joined their team.

Ryuji's love for his sister often sees people make fun of him, saying he has a sister complex. This even includes Erika herself, who takes advantage of this to get anything she wants, usually expensive computer parts.

Etymologies[]

Erika Mishima (御島 エリカ)

Name used in Digimon Story: Cyber Sleuth - Hacker's Memory. Officially romanized in a Hacker's Memory trailer.

  • Ja: Mishima (御島?). Japanese surname that means "honorable island".
  • Ja: Erika (エリカ?). A Japanese feminine name. It is commonly used in Western Countries as Erica and derived in Old Norse as "Eternal Ruler".

Development[]

Erika's creation came from inspiration from the character Alice in the anime series Heaven's Memo Pad and the Van Gang from the anime series Durarara!!.[4] Yui Ogura voices both characters. The name Erika was also originally just a placeholder, based on the character Erika Karisawa, also from Durarara!!, one of the members of the Van Gang.[5]

Digimon Story: Cyber Sleuth - Hacker's Memory (Manga)[]

Erika Mishima arrives alongside Ryuji Mishima, Cyberdramon, Chitose Imai and Wormmon, in which Ryuji helps Keisuke Amasawa defeat the Dinosaurists's Triceramon, Tyrannomon, and Monochromon.

Other forms[]

Eater Legion[]

Eater Legion b

Eater Legion is the form Erika takes after being attacked by her Eater Bits. It uses Erika's memories and learns of hers and Wormon's desire to go to the Digital World. It then takes on this goal for itself, attempting to break its way into the Digital World.

Hudiemon[]

Hudiemon dl

Hudiemon is the resulting form of the merging memory data of Erika and her partner Wormmon in a Champion level Digimon with humanoid appearance and butterfly features that solely gives the essence of their Hacker Team Hudie.

When Keisuke, Ryuji, Chitoise and Wormmon try to save Erika from being Eater Legion, she states it is too late and that she is fully assimilated with it and tells the boys to kill the Eater. Suddenly Erika's memory banks appears as Erika, then fuses with Wormmon to create Hudiemon. Due to her becoming a Digimon, Erika's actual data were transferred to Wormmon as a whole and making the latter as a new vessel. Hudiemon then helps to kill Eater Legion and then Eater EDEN who also merges with some of Erika's memory bank data. When the World resets due to Aiba defeating Mother Eater, Hudiemon decides to stay in this form, as if she returns with Keisuke, with no EDEN in the new universe - the car crash will badly hurt her and her parents, with only the latters surviving from the accident, after she will not be able live much longer given her incurable disease. Rather than willingly being killed, she chooses to live in the Digital World and in the new universe, she no longer exists - with Ryuji as an only child.

Upon reaching the Digital World, Hudiemon saved the World's data which was originally supposed to disappear into herself and created her own reality in which she lives as Erika, living happily with the other members of Hudie.[6]
