Synopsis[]
Shuu Yulin and Ryudamon have been captured by a group of Etemon at the Crossroads Fortress. As they march them through the building, Yulin stops and looks at the large amount of cages with imprisoned Digimon in them — though this just enrages the Etemon and has them tell her to hurry up.
The Etemon take the duo to their master, WaruMonzaemon, where Ryudamon quickly says it was here to make a trade offer. WaruMonzaemon laughs, thinking there was no way it could bargain with a Digimon such as itself — though it does end up taking interest when Ryudamon offers up a human for its collection (Yulin) and that the human was so rare she is referred to as a witch. WaruMonzaemon asks what it wants in return for her, with it saying it wants BlackAgumon. Surprised that's all Ryudamon wanted, it sends its Etemon minions to fetch the BlackAgumon.
During the 30 minutes it takes them to get said BlackAgumon, Yulin and Ryudamon think back to their plan of how they would "trade" Yulin for BlackAgumon. After the "trade", Yulin's hololzation would disengage once Ryudamon got far away enough and she would return to Ryudamon's DigiCore. Ryudamon was surprised that she would risk herself like that, with Yulin saying that this was the safest plan to save Saya Ryusenji as a fight could cause BlackAgumon to get hurt, which in turn would hurt Saya, as her data should still be inside it since she was Mindlinking with BlackAgumon at the time of the incident.
Eventually, the Etemon return with four "BlackAgumon". Yulin was happy to see what she had come for, though is surprised when she sees three more "BlackAgumon" arrive after the first one. WaruMonzaemon says Ryudamon can have whichever one it wants, though Ryudamon quickly realizes they were actually just regular Agumon covered in dirt to pretend they were BlackAgumon. It brings this up, with WaruMonzaemon amused that it was smart enough to figure that out. It asks them if the real reason they were here was to get their minions back, with Yulin shocked to learn that the Digimon she had sent to fight the firewall had ended up there. WaruMonzaemon had been waiting for the "witch" said minions kept talking about to show up, and was surprised said witch had actually shown up. WaruMonzaemon becomes angry, claiming that she had incited its minions to turn against it and proceeds to beat up the BlackAgumon saying that disloyal minions deserve to be punished. After Yulin angrily calls WaruMonzaemon a monster a series of flashes rain down around everyone, with some of them hitting Yulin and Ryudamon's restraints — freeing them. Yulin wonders if Ryudamon had freed them, though it says it hadn't — with WaruMonzamon noticing it was a Dorumon's attack that had freed them. It sends the Etemon after Dorumon, then decides it will now punish the duo. Yulin denies knowing the Dorumon — though WaruMonzaemon doesn't believe her and attacks Yulin. Yulin disengages the hologram, to WaruMonzaemon's surprise, then resummons it in a different part of the area.
Since it had been so focused on killing Yulin, it is taken even further by surprise when Ryudamon launches an Iai Blade from behind it. WaruMonazaemon is fast enough to evade it though, and proceeds to avoid every single Iai Blade launched at it. When WaruMonzaemon corners Ryudamon, it tells it that even if the attacks hit they wouldn't do anything anyway since they were too weak — though Ryudamon laughs and says it fell for its plan. WaruMonzaemon is confused, though quickly realizes what it was on about — Ryudamon hadn't been aiming for WaruMonzaemon, he had actually been aiming his attacks at the cages. WaruMonzaemon's captured Digimon were now free. This angers WaruMonzaemon even more, who decides they deserve even more punishment. Ryudamon tries to block WaruMonzaemon's attack, but is easily defeated due to the fact it was a Rookie against an Ultimate. Just as WaruMonzaemon was about to kill Ryudamon, some of the freed Digimon confront WaruMonzaemon and tell it to let Ryudamon go — though WaruMonzaemon makes quick work of the entire group, beating them all up.
As they watch the beatdown, Ryudamon angrily thinks — with Yulin hearing its thoughts — about how power should be used to protect not dominate. Ryudamon, with the help of Yulin, gets back up, with Ryudamon reacting to Yuling saying "that's what partners are for" by warp digivolving to Hisyaryumon. WaruMonzaemon is impressed at it being able to get to the Ultimate level, though points out it wasn't attacking directly as it was clearly worried its attacks might hit the the other Digimon. It laughs and says that all that will do is cause everyone to die, with WaruMonzaemon's Heartbreak Attack hitting Hisyaryumon — causing it to become depressed and unable to fight. Yulin asks where its "Bushido Spirit" was, with this quickly snapping it out of its depression. It had remembered its "Bushido Spirit" was to fight the sake of the Digital World, then kills WaruMonzaemon. Hisyaryumon asks how she had managed to snap it out of its depression, to which Yulin says their emotions are shared via the Mindlink and so she was able to pass her emotions over to him and counteract the Heartbreak Attack. He says it's a shame they didn't find BlackAgumon after all, with Yulin sadly agreeing. She does take solace in the fact they were able to free so many Digimon though, as well as the fact she got to be by the side of Ryudamon.
Dorumon, who had managed to kill the Etemon, watches from afar as Hisyaryumon flies away and finds it interesting that Ryudamon had managed to digivolve all the way to the Ultimate level.
In the present day (10+ years after the previous events) Satsuki Tamahime tells DigiPolice squad leader Yulin that she had found another cracker at the Wall Slums. Yulin then motions for the DigiPolice to move out and deal with the situation.
