Synopsis[]

Whilst hanging out near a vending machine, Saya Ryusenji tells Shuu Yulin she wants to become friends with Digimon and asks Yulin if she thinks that's silly of her to want. Yulin doesn't find it silly, though says she doesn't think it's likely for humans and Digimon to get along as most humans don't get along. This answer still makes Saya happy though, since it means it's not impossible for humans and Digimon to become friends. Yulin tells Saya that if any human could become friends with Digimon, it'd be her — though Saya answers back that she doesn't want it to be only her, she wants Yulin to become friends with Digimon as well. Yulin makes fun of Saya, telling her that if she did go to the Digital World she'd just get lost due to her sense of direction though Saya says she'd be fine because she knows Yulin would find her any time she got lost.

Some time later, Saya and Yulin — alongside Saya's fiancée Kosuke Kisakata — become part of Operation Tartarus under the watchful eye of her father Tomonori Ryusenji. The mission ends in failure, with Saya's consciousness becoming trapped within her BlackAgumon due to her Mindlink lasting for too long after they had to abandoned her when the group were attacked by unknown Digimon. This left her in a coma in the real world.

Yulin spends sleepless nights trying to find Saya's data online, but is unable to do so. Instead, she comes across a strange reading and wonders what it is — possibly something government related or even a Digimon. She sends a Kokuwamon to check the data out though it ends up being killed by multiple unknown entities. Undeterred, she sends Digimon after Digimon to fight the unknown entities but all of them end up getting killed. As she wallows in despair, she receives a text from Tomonori asking her to come to his office.

Upon arrival, Tomonori expresses surprise at how pale she looks (due to the lack of sleep) then shows her a video of Saya — who had yet to awaken from her coma. She asks if that was why she was summoned, though he says no and says he knows she had found the wall. He insists he hadn't been spying on her and as she gives the information she knows about it he asks her to Mindlink with a Digimon to inspect it further as Mindlinking was now much safer due to the hard work of the staff. Yulin agrees, with Tomonori giving her a new Digimon Dock with a modified Ryudamon on it (it had been modified to Mindlink with Yulin better). She preforms the Mindlink and is surprised to see a fully realised Ryudamon instead of the usual v-pet style sprite she is used to seeing. Not just that, it can talk. They continue further into the Digital World together, with Yulin going inside its DigiCore to protect herself from a large drop since the duo had spawned in the sky (Ryudamon able to land on its feet). They spot a building in the distance and travel to it, with Ryudamon asking why she was so happy as they walked. She wasn't sure, but found the Digital World's surroundings moving and was having fun. Ryudamon asks why they had come, since Tomonori had only told it to help Yulin, to which she tells it she is looking for BlackAgumon. They travel the Digital World looking for it, with Yulin amazed at the fact Digimon had built entire cities. They ask around about BlackAgumon, though have no luck — either being attacked or told it hadn't seen. After asking many Digimon they finally get a lead, with a Kamemon telling them it had seen a BlackAgumon at the Crossroads Fortress. It warns them against going there, as Etemon would kill them, but they don't listen to the warning as they were now one stop closer to finding Saya.

Upon arrival, Ryudamon tells Yulin they can turn back if she wants though — turns this notion down and says she has a plan.

Etemon tells its master, WaruMonzaemon, that intruders had arrived at the fortress.
