Digimon Adventure: Anode/Cathode Tamer
Digimon: Anode/Cathode Tamer is one of two Digimon WonderSwan games (and one of the very few WonderSwan Color games) that are available in English. It combines two separate Japanese games, Digimon Adventure: Anode Tamer, and Digimon Adventure: Cathode Tamer, into one. The game was distributed by Bandai Asia and targeted mostly to Hong Kong and possibly several other English-speaking Asian markets. Ryo is a boy roughly the same age as the older DigiDestined, which is about 11. He lives with his parents in a comfortable two-story house. On December 31, 1999, while chatting online a blackout occurs and Ryo's mother asks him to check the fuse-box. Before he can do so, however, a voice calls out to him from his computer, which is displaying a machine he's never seen before. The voice pleads to him to touch the device, which Ryo (rather naively) does. The next thing he knows, he's suddenly in the middle of a forest and confronted by Agumon, Taichi "Tai" Kamiya's Digimon partner. (read more)

Digimon Frontier | |||||
Digimon Frontier (デジモンフロンティア Dejimon Furontia?) is the 4th Digimon TV series, first broadcast in 2002. After prompted to do so by unusual phone messages, the 5 main characters go to a subway station and take a train to the Digital World. Once there, they meet 2 secondary characters, Bokomon and Neemon, who act as guides, and tell the DigiDestined that the DigiWorld is in danger. They must fight the antagonist, Cherubimon and his Legendary Warrior servants before they succeed in dominating the world; it's up to the children to save it. The biggest feature introduced in the season is "Spirit Evolution", where the DigiDestined themselves evolve into Digimon to become Legendary Warriors, rather than having partners. For this special kind of evolution, they use "spirits," artifacts created by the Ancient Warriors that were hidden in certain areas of the Digital World. Another detail different from the previous seasons lies in the way the characters travel within the regions of the DigiWorld: most areas are connected by railroads, where train Digimon called "Trailmon" act as a means of transport. There are razor-sharp teeth in its "Metal Head" cranium, and because its tenacious jaw functions like a vise, it bites and completely rends every armor.
