This article is about Digi-Eggs, known as Digimentals in Japanese, used for Armor Digivolution. For the Digimental used for digivolution to the Ultra level featured in Digimon Adventure V-Tamer 01, see Digimental (V-Tamer 01). |
Digi-Eggs (デジメンタル Dejimentaru?, lit. "Digimental") are rare and ancient objects used in the Digimon Adventure 02 anime series, the Digimon card games, and various video games. In total, there are fifteen Digi-Eggs, four of which have never been shown in the anime series or movies, and of those four, only one has been depicted in the card game. They allow Digimon to perform an ancient type of digivolution known as Armor Digivolution (アーマー進化 Āmā Shinka?, lit. "Armor Evolution"), which was used more commonly in ancient times in the place of normal digivolution. In the Digimon Adventure universe, the Digi-Eggs are rebuilt by Ryo Akiyama and Ken Ichijouji over the course of Digimon Adventure 02: Tag Tamers.
Fiction[]
Digimon Adventure 02[]
Due to the Digimon Emperor's D-3 Digivice and seeding the Digital World with Control Spires, Digimon were unable to digivolve beyond the Rookie level. Enter Flamedramon To counter this, the new 2002 Japanese Digidestined had to find Digi-Eggs and use them to Armor Digivolve their own partner Digimon until they could find and destroy the Control Spires.
The first Digi-Eggs the DigiDestined discovered could only be moved when the assigned child tried to pick it up, which also released their respective partner Digimon. A New Digitude Takeru "T.K." Takaishi and Kari Kamiya's partners were also able to achieve Armor Digivolve after the pair found their own Digi-Eggs. Later Digi-Eggs were acquired only after their assigned child demonstrated the Digi-Egg's corresponding virtue.[citation needed]
