Synopsis[]

In Ruby Mountain, Yuuki apologizes to Impmon for having caused them to lose a rogue NPC that used a deck featuring Metallicdramon and Volcanicdramon. It reminds her that their Novel Emblem is still an unstable untested version with no guarantee their data would survive losing to NPCs — and that they may have gotten lucky in that they were still alive. Impmon tells her that if she wants its forgiveness she should come up with a plan to defeat the duo in a rematch, though she states she has no plan and that they should come up with one together, with Impmon deciding not forgive her. As they bicker, Yuuki pulls out her D-STORAGE, intending to recall Impmon and go home as she was worn out from the arguing, but stops when she notices her gained new items. Since they had lost to the NPC, she was confused as to why she had new items and opens her inventory to see had obtained a new ability item for her Tamer card. She wonders whether she should accept it, though quickly decides to do so and upon gaining a new ability asks Impmon about it and Beelzemon's types — confirming with it that Impmon is the Evil type and Beelzemon is the Demon Lord type. This confuses Impmon, feeling it to be a pointless question, though learns why when it sees her new ability is support for Dark Dragon and Demon Dragon Type Digimon. A new notification appears, informing the duo they had received new cards, this confusing them even further. As they look through the cards, Yuuki happily declares they would use these new cards to defeat the NPC.

Synopsis[]

With their newly created deck, Yuuki and Impmon return to Ruby Mountain to duel the rouge NPC.

Having learned from her prior defeat to the NPC, Yuuki is able to win by using its own tactics against it to endure its attacks instead of fighting it head on.

Now back at the base of Ruby Mountain, Yuuki hugs an annoyed Impmon in happiness over their win. After the celebration ends, Impmon brings up the fact that them gaining new cards and Tamer abilities was suspicious with Yuuki saying they can ask Altea about it. She leaves the base, dragging Impmon with her, and forces Impmon to walk around Ruby Mountain with her.

Gameplay notes[]

NPC vs. Yuuki[]

The start of the duel is skipped. The novel starts on an unspecified turn, with both sides having already had multiple turns. The NPC has EX7-046: Jazarichmon on its field, whilst Yuuki has her Tamer card EX7-065: Yuuki, EX7-060: Nidhoggmon, and EX7-055: Punkmon on her field. Punkmon had digivolved from EX7-050: Impmon on a prior turn, whilst the Nidhoggmon had been revived from the Trash at some point. Whether Impmon had digivolved from a lv2 or had been played isn't specified. EX7-062: HeavyMetaldramon is in Yuuki's trash, whilst a copy of EX7-014: Volcanicdramon is in the NPC's trash. Later in the duel, she is specified to have an EX7-056: Orochimon in her trash — though whether it was there before this turn or was one of the cards she trashed later isn't specified.

  • As Nidhoggmon had been revived, it would have no digivolution sources under it. She presumably used Nidhoggmon's Trash effect to revive itself for 7 memory. Loudmon's digivolution and the cards in the trash aren't known by the reader until stated later in the duel that these events had happened earlier in the duel.

On Yuuki's turn, she digivolves Punkmon to EX7-055: Loudmon — ending her turn.

  • Yuuki presumably used Loudmon's effect to digivolve from a lv4 Dark Dragon for 3 cost rather than a Purple or Red lv4 for 4 cost. This is optional however, so she may have paid 4 instead. It is not specified which she does.

On the NPC's turn, it takes an unspecified action, putting its memory to 0 — then digivolves Jazarichmon into EX7-046: Metallicdramon for five cost, putting Yuuki at 5 memory. Due to Metallicdramon's on digivolve effect, Yuuki is not allowed to Digivolve lv4 or below Digimon on her next turn. In addition, if Metallicdramon dies (with the exception of its player's own effects) — it can play an Earth Dragon or Rock Dragon from the trash for free.

  • For the NPC to have been on 0 memory before digivolving Jazarichmon to Metallicdramon, it had to have already done something on its turn as Yuuki had to have put it on 1 or more memory for it to become its turn.

Yuuki draws a card, with her now having 2 cards in her hand. At the start of Yuuki's Main Phase, her Tamer card gives her 1 memory as her opponent has a Digimon — putting her at 6. She suspends her Tamer card to activate its effect, allowing her to digivolve one of her Digimon into a Dark Dragon or Evil Dragon Digimon in her trash — but only if she has less than 4 cards in her hand. As she has 2, she digivolves Loudmon into HeavyMetaldramon for 4 cost — lowered by 1 due to HeavyMetaldramon's effect allowing it to digivolve for 4 (instead of 5) by digivolving from a Dark Dragon or Evil Dragon. She activates its on digivolving effect, trashing two cards in her hand to destroy a Digimon with equal or less DP than it. Impmon and Loudmon's inherited effects boost its DP from 13,000 to 17,000 — though this is irrelevant as it would've died regardless as Metallicdramon has 13,000 as well. Having been destroyed, Metallicdramon's effect activates — allowing the NPC to play an Earth Dragon or Rock Dragon from the trash for free. It uses this effect to play Volcanicdramon, using its on play effect to delete the Digimon on Yuuki's field with the lowest DP. This destroys Nidhoggmon, who has 11,000DP. This is what Yuuki wanted though, as Nidhoggmon's effect activates — allowing her to play a lv5 or lower Dark Dragon or Evil Dragon from her trash for free and uses this to revive Orochimon. The rest of the duel is skipped, with Yuuki winning.

Synopsis[]

Winr stands in the open enjoying the wind in the Invasive Forest City within the Emerald Coast. FunBeemon arrives and tells her partner to take shelter, since the powerful winds could blow him away with how small he is. Winr points out the hypocrisy, since FunBeemon is the one who gets blown away by the wind, and as he expresses his annoyance, FunBeemon asks him what's wrong and tells him that it had invited him here to help cheer him up as he had spent a long time looking at the area on his map. The conversation then turns to Yuuki and Impmon, with Winr bringing up how they had obtained weird cards after losing to an NPC. He tells FunBeemon how the duo had gotten so overexcited at having defeated a rouge NPC they had gone right off and challenged the main scenario only for them to get defeated easily by Tlalocmon. She had dragged Winr with her, and before he could even begin understanding its effects — she had already lost. As FunBeemon laughs at how badly Yuuki lost, it asks Winr if he planned to fight Tlalocmon as well — with him confirming that he did indeed plan to do so. Funbeemon assumes he wanted to avenge his friend, though he insists that isn't the case and instead figured a deck that had defeated Yuuki would be a good test for his own new deck. He had also gotten annoyed at how popular she had gotten lately, so figured he would steal said popularity by defeating something Yuuki was unable to defeat. Having recently defeated a rogue NPC, Winr brings up his inventory and shows off his newly obtained cards to FunBeemon. In addition, just like Yuuki, he also got a new ability for his Tamer card. The duo marvel over their new cards, with Winr asking FunBeemon if it would like to become the Queen of the Royal Base.

As the duo leave the Forest, Winr appears to doubt himself — stating he was worried the cards could actually terrible and cause them to lose, though FunBeemon calms him down by telling him not to worry about it and that it can tell he's actually excited to try them as he is always so meticulous about his deck. They continue on, eventually finding themselves in the rainforest where Yuuki fought Tlalocmon. Shortly afterwards, they find the NPC responsible for playing the Tlalocmon Deck and prepare to duel.

Synopsis[]

Winr and FunBeemon duel against the NPC that had defeated Yuuki and Impmon with its Tlalocmon deck.

They eventually win.

After the duel, as Winr looks at his rewards, FunBeemon points out they had gotten revenge for Yuuki — with Winr stating he had not duelled to get revenge. FunBeemon reacts confused, stating his face clearly showed he was happy he had gotten revenge for her. He ignores FunBeemon and tells her that Yuuki and Impmon had probably finished bickering by now and were ready for a rematch and that they would be unable to win without help and would come crying to him again after their inevitable second loss. Not wanting to be useless to her, he blushes and states that he needs to be a good teacher for her so that he can help teach her how to defeat Tlalocmon. Happy to see Winr admit his feelings, FunBeemon hugs him and asks him why he had come to LACUNA. He tells her that he wanted to test cards in the game before buying them in real life, complete the game's storyline, and would be yelled by Yuuki if he didn't play with her though quickly admits his real reason if because his parents are always fighting and as such he didn't want to go home. After ending the hug, FunBeemon asks if he was going to log off though he says he will play some more as he wants to test out his new deck a little more. FunBeemon flies off, presumably to to find someone for Winr to play against — with Winr giving chase.

Gameplay notes[]

NPC vs. Winr[]

The start of the duel is skipped. The novel starts on an unspecified turn, with both sides having already had multiple turns. The NPC has EX7-047: Eldradimon and EX7-029: SaberLeomon ACE on its field, whilst Winr has BT19-052: Vespamon in his Breeding Area, the Tamer card BT19-084: Winr, and five security cards. His Tamer card allows him to place Royal Base cards from his hand to the bottom of his security face up; with BT19-048: ForgeBeemon, another Vespamon, BT18-046: Waspmon, BT19-052: CannonBeemon, and BT19-056: TigerVespamon face up in his security. This means the NPC had attacked and removed all five of of Winr's security during the duel with Winr having replaced them with the previously aforementioned cards.

During the NPC's turn, it DNA digivolves Eldradimon and SaberLeomon ACE into EX7-047: Tlalocmon for free with them meeting the requirements as Eldradimon is Black and SaberLeomon ACE is Green. Its DNA digivolution effect activates, allowing it to play two different colored Nature Spirits Digimon with a play cost of 7 or less from its hand for free. It uses this effect to play the black EX7-045: Jagamon and the blue EX7-045: ShogunGekomon — who both have play costs of 7. It attacks Winr directly, removing Winr's top security card. Despite having five face up cards in his security, their security effects prove meaningless as Tlalocmon survives the battle. The NPC then apparently passes without making any more moves.

  • Though not mentioned, Tlalocmon also would've activated another on digivolving effect to lower one of Winr's Digimon's DP by 7000 for each of the NPC's Digimon, with there being no targets for this effect due to Winr's Battle Area being empty. ShongunGekomon would activate its on play effect to cause one of Winr's Digimon or Tamers to be unable to suspend until the end of his turn, whilst Jagamon's on play would de-digivolve one of Winr's Digimon. Though Jagamon's effect would have no target, ShogunGekomon would be forced to target Winr's Tamer card BT19-084: Winr. Jagamon also has a second effect, turning all Nature Spirit Digimon into blockers. The security card checked by Tlalocmon isn't specified though based on the order mentioned in the novel it presumably fought against ForgeBeemon.

On Winr's turn, he moves Vespamon from the Breeding Area to the Battle Area and digivolves it to BT19-053: QueenBeemon for a cost of three due to it digivolving from a Royal Base Digimon (as he was on 3 memory and his turn didn't end, meaning he didn't digivolve it for four from a Green or Black Digimon). Winr has QueenBeemon attack the NPC's security and activates its When Attacking effect to play one of the face up Royal Base security cards with a lowered cost of 8. He chooses to summon TigerVespamon, with the cost being 4 instead of 12. TigerVespamon uses its On Play effect to suspend 1 of the NPC's Digimon for each of Winr's security cards — and with him having three he is able to Suspend three Digimon with the NPC being barred from Unsuspending Digimon until the end of its next turn. ShogunGekomon and Jagamon become Suspended, with Tlalocmon also being targeted — though as it was already Suspended, the third instance was redundant. The rest of the duel is skipped, with Winr winning.
