Tai and Agumon are ambushed by an unknown force and sent to another place. There, Agumon is faced with the challenge of finding the real Tai from dozens of copies that are all crying in pain for help.
Summary[]
As Tai and Agumon continue on their journey to solve the mystery of the Crest of Courage, they are aided by a trio of Honeybeemon sent by Wisemon to help them out as they were in the area working on Wisemon's research efforts. Tai checks on Joe, T.K. and Kari at the hot springs, and also with Izzy back at the Tree of Information. Shortly after Izzy says that he and Tentomon are heading out soon since the data recovery is just about done, Tai and Agumon are abducted by a large Argomon eye that appears in the sky shortly after it filled with storm clouds.
When they come to, they find themselves trapped in an enclosed area and surrounded by Argomon, who Tai and Agumon recognize from their previous encounters regarding the cargo ship crisis. However, the Argomon have no intention to fight them, instead wishing to simply speak with them on behalf of their benefactor as it is their creator's will that their meeting was planned, before separating Agumon from Tai, so when he breaks free, he finds dozens of copies of Tai, leaving him to wonder which one is the real Tai. After freeing one, only for that one to be a fake that self-destructs, the lead Argomon tells Agumon that this is a test, in which to escape, he needs to find and rescue the real Tai before his life runs out. However, the Tai doubles continue to confuse Agumon so much that he is forced to risk freeing them all to find the real one, despite the damage he's taking from the fakes self-destructing. Driven to an almost panicked, freaked-out state, Agumon tries to picture what Tai would do in a situation like that, and remembering how optimistic he would be because of his courage, Agumon is able to wipe out the entire army of fakes and then rescue the real Tai. From there, Agumon digivolves into Greymon, then MetalGreymon Alterous Mode, and finally WarGreymon, taking out the entire group of Argomon and their surroundings in one swoop. The Argomon leader survives, and when Tai demands answers, the Argomon leader warns that they will soon face the Great Catastrophe before vanishing, its mission complete.
Reporting what happened back to Izzy and Tentomon at Tree of Information, with Wisemon and Garbagemon in attendance, Izzy realizes that everything started when the Argomon launched their original attack on Tokyo with the nuclear missile, meaning everything up to now has been leading up to the Great Catastrophe. Matt agrees with Tai on the matter, having heard everything himself, and Tai realizes that the Argomon are still watching them, warning his fellow DigiDestined to be careful, while the Argomon report in to their creator on their latest results.
