The Celestial Digimon (三大天使 Sandaitenshi?, lit. "Three Archangels") are a group of Mega-level Angel Digimon that are derived from the three highest angelic choirs of the Christian angelic hierarchy developed by Pseudo-Dionysius the Areopagite, as well as the three archangels recognized by the Roman Catholic Church. It is said that Lucemon's abilities were split among them. Their primary duty is to protect the Digital World's central "Kernel", the domain of its "God", though each of them has a unique secondary duty. Because of the extreme of being positioned near the ultimate "Goodness", they each have another side that easily dyes their body with the other extreme of "Wickedness": Daemon is said to be a fallen Seraphimon, Laylamon and Ophanimon Falldown Mode are fallen Ophanimon, and Cherubimon (Evil) is a fallen Cherubimon (Good). When a Celestial Digimon falls, the Kernel will select a Digimon and digivolve them into the relevant Celestial Digimon as a replacement.

Ophanimon Falldown Mode
The three Celestial Digimon were the ones who took up the task of keeping the Digital World safe after Lucemon was defeated by the Ten Legendary Warriors. The Warriors entrusted their Spirits to the three of them; Wind and Light to Seraphimon, Flame, Thunder, and Ice to Ophanimon, and Darkness, Steel, Wood, Water, and Earth to Cherubimon. However Cherubimon, corrupted by Lucemon, believed that Ophanimon and Seraphimon were plotting against him as well as the beast-types, so he led his followers against them. Seraphimon was defeated by Cherubimon in a surprise strike, and Ophanimon surrendered to protect him. They were both sealed away, Seraphimon in the ceiling of his castle at the Forest Terminal, and Ophanimon in the Light Barrier in Cherubimon's Castle at Rose Morning Star.
Ophanimon calls the DigiDestined to the Digital World to oppose Cherubimon , while Seraphimon is defeated but eventually begins to travel with the children as Patamon. Later, on the Yellow Moon, all three are reunited in their Rookie forms and provide support in the final confrontation with Lucemon. The Celestial Digimon remain in the Digital World once the fight is over, thankful for the efforts of the humans who saved their world.

Ophanimon hires Keisuke Amasawa to help her, as Kerpymon (Good) and Seraphimon are fighting and she doesn't know why. Upon getting to the two fighting angels, Keisuke learns that they are fighting as they both want to marry Ophanimon but only one of them can. They then decide that they one who defeats the human deserves her, though both lose to Keisuke. They then decide they will need to train for a rematch with the human, so that they can one day be the suiter for Ophanimon. Ophanimon learns of this and uses it to her advantage to have them both behave, then fixes the area the two destoryed. After they agree to stop fighting as Ophanimon doesn't like it, the three leave. Later on, Ophanimon warns Keisuke that he needs to look out as they both plan to defeat Keisuke one day to prove who should get to marry her.
Digimon Chronicle X
During Kōta Doumoto, Alphamon, Yūji Musha, Ouryumon, Omnimon X, and Gallantmon X's travels across the Digital World to try and help stop the discrimination against X-Antibody Digimon, the Celestial Digimon are some of the Digimon the group befriend. During the battles between the Royal Knights and Seven Great Demon Lords the group are able to sense that the Demon Lords had been causing trouble, so they round up all of the friends they had made during their travels and join the battles, although Seraphimon stays behind in the Kernel to protect it.
As Dynasmon X fights against Cherubimon (Evil) X and Ophanimon Falldown Mode X, who had been summoned by Lucemon X, Ophanimon X and Cherubimon (Good) X arrive to help out the Royal Knight and fight against their evil counterparts, which allows Dynasmon to help Magnamon X in its fight against Beelzemon X.
After Alphamon defeats Lucemon SM, Lucemon flees. The Royal Knights ask the Three Archangels to help find it, though they refuse. They also refuse to help stop the Spiral problem, though have no issues with the others dealing with it instead. Their refusal to do anything is due to their fear of falling and turning into demonic Digimon, though are able able to be convinced to help the Royal Knights and Four Holy Beasts due to the Protagonist and Michi Shinjo. Originally however, they were hostile and refused to allow the Royal Knights into their domain as they had assumed they were harbouring Lucemon, though the Tamers are able to defuse the situation by convincing the Royal Knights to trust the angels.
With the groups all now in agreement, the Three Archangels team up with the Deva to deal with threats inside the Digital world whilst the Royal Knights deal with threats outside the Digital World.
Ophanimon is one of the Three Archangels. It governs over love and benevolence and has a lot of light power, though as an Angel Digimon is very unstable and will Mode Change to Ophanimon Fallen Mode when overcome with conflict.
At Christmas time, Ophanimon forces other Digimon to go along with its idea of holiday spirit. This concerns Seraphimon and Cherubimon (Good) causing them to travel to the Human World, via a Digital Point, to ask the Tamers for help. When they try to go to Ophanimon to talk it out of it, Ophanimon's followers get in their way and the Angels have the Tamers fight them not wanting to harm them. After defeating them, Ophanimon comes to their aid though its fellow Angels and the Tamers are able to convince it that there is more than one way to show love. As thanks for being able to convince Ophanimon, the Angels use their power to make it snow and everyone celebrates a white Christmas together.
Months later, when a large amount of Digital Points open up in the Human World, Caturamon tells Ophanimon about its plan to use one of the Four Holy Beasts DigiCores to open up a distortion and have all the Spiral be attracted to one point so that they could defeat all the Spiral at the same time. Caturamon had wanted to do this plan with the other Deva, but they did not agree due to the fact that the distortion causes problems to the Digital World and Human World and that it only worked in the past because the Four Holy Beasts had used their power to mitigate the damage, and were no longer around. Wanting to help save the Digital World, Ophanimon agrees to Caturamon's plan, uses another DigiCore to gain more power, and travels around clearing out the Digital Points, with Humans noticing its shadow as it clears them out. This causes an urban legend that if you see "the Angel's shadow", you will get good luck, causing many people to try and find the shadow – including Michi Shinjo and Sara Shinkai. The duo are eventually able to find the source of the shadow, learning that it belonged to Ophanimon, though as they see it clearing out the Digital Points Salamon points out that Ophanimon's power was causing the Digital Points to become unstable as they were not used to so much power being used to quell them. As Ophanimon clears them out it gets more and more angry, not understanding why so many kept popping up, whilst losing sense of itself in its aim to protect everyone. As Michi and Sara try to find Ophanimon to stop its angry rampage they come across Caturamon, unaware that Caturamon was currently acting against the other Deva. Having learned that Michi and Sara wanted to stop Ophanimon it attacks them to stop them though eventually realises it is not strong enough to defeat Angewomon and Megadramon so decides instead to stall them long enough until Ophanimon had finished the plan.
Ophanimon suddenly arrives in the Digital Point however, with its rage now at maximum. Having decided that defeating the Spirals wasn't enough, Ophanimon decides that destroying the Human World would solve all their problems, as that is where the source of the Digital Points supposedly came from and Mode Changes to Fallen Mode. It proves too powerful for Angewomon and Megadramon to deal with though they are aided by the sudden arrival of Mon and SaviorHuckmon who had managed to track them due to Keito Tamada's tracking device picking up Michi's signal. The three Ultimate Digimon fight Fallen Mode but still find themselves no match for it and Caturamon reveals in the middle of the fight that Ophanimon had been supressing the distortion using the power of the DigiCore but that it was too much for it to handle, which is why it had suddenly become Fallen Mode, as usually fighting a few enemies wouldn't be enough for it to become Fallen. Realising the error of its ways, Caturamon teams up with the Tamers and is able to take back the DigiCore after using the others as a distraction which is enough to restore Ophanimon to its senses. The duo apologise for what had happened, realising the other Deva were right all along and that the plan was too dangerous to use.
When a SkullSatamon attacks a group of Digimon in the Digital World, Omekamon stands up to it though is easily defeated. Before SkullSatamon can finish it off, Ophanimon and Boltmon arrive and kill SkullSatamon.
- Eden's Javelin: Radiates a beam of purifying light from its javelin.
Cherubimon (Good) is one of the Three Archangels.
At Christmas time, Ophanimon forces other Digimon to go along with its idea of holiday spirit. This concerns Cherubimon (Good) and Seraphimon, causing them to travel to the Human World, via a Digital Point, to ask the Tamers for help. When they try to go to Ophanimon to talk it out of it, Ophanimon's followers, Angewomon, Peckmon, and ToyAgumon, get in their way and the Angels have the Tamers fight them not wanting to harm Ophanimon's followers. After defeating them, Ophanimon comes to their aid though its fellow Angels and the Tamers are able to convince it that there is more than one way to show love. As thanks for being able to convince Ophanimon, the Angels use their power to make it snow and everyone celebrates a white Christmas together.
When Mon is able to convince the Three Archangels, Royal Knights, and Four Holy Beasts to have a summit to discuss their differences — with Examon and Crusadermon having caused a fight between the Royal Knights and Three Archangels due to accusing them of harboring Lucemon — the groups come to the agreement to send two members each and so Cherubimon attends alongside Seraphimon. The summit doesn't go well however, as the Archangels refuse to get involved in the Spiral problem and Examon pisses off the Holy Beasts by pointing out how badly their previous attempt at dealing with the Spiral had gone — as they and sent them to the Dark Area, which had cause them to learn how to transverse between the Dark Area, Digital World, and Human World. Before a fight escalates the Tamers are able to defuse the situation by calling for a break. During the break, Sara Shinkai, Machinedramon, Takumi Hiiragi, and Gaiomon show up and attack the Archangels. During the fight, the Protagonist, Rasenmon, Michi, and LovelyAngemon arrive, confused as to why they were fighting. The Tamers join the fight to stop them, though Sara summons a group of Spiral which are able to stall the group long enough for Sara and Takumi to complete their goal, after which they flee through a portal. The Tamers are then able to convince the archangels to end the meeting amicably rather than have it devolve into fighting, and, due to the hard work of the others convincing the other groups to trust them as well the three groups agree to work together.
After the summit, the Archangels are able to figure out Eiji Futami's plan invade the Kernel and are even able to create a counter program to his. After Eiji succesfully opens up a gateway to it he and Sara are unable to go through it as Cherubimon comes out of it and attacks them. Eiji summons Spiral, whilst Cherubimon summons many Angel Digimon and using the program they created is able to nuetralize Eiji's Spiral.
Still having loads left, he summons more of them and has Sara digivolve Tapirmon to Machinedramon in the hopes that they can defeat Cherubimon in a battle of attrition. Cherubimon easily deals with them despite the numbers however Eiji uses his hacks and disguises the Spiral as Angel Digimon and Machinedramon which is enough to throw Cherubimon off with the Spiral and Machinedramon being able to team up and defeat Cherubimon. As they prepare the killing blow; LovelyAngemon, Mitamamon, and their partners arrive – having noticed the gateway from afar due to how bright it was. Though confused at the fact Eiji was evil, they defeat the Spiral and save Cherubimon, though in defeating the Spiral, they are effected by their palarysis ability. This doesn't last long however, as Gaiomon Fierce Blade Mode also shows up and is able to remove the palarysis and is followed shortly after by Rasenmon, HeavyLeomon, and Grizzlymon. The group fail to stop Eiji however as he is able to have Machinedramon and the Spiral stall them long enough to be able to run through the gateway. Unfortunately for Eiji, the gateway remained open due to Cherubimon using its remaining power with the Tamers being able to get Rasenmon, Jesmon (who was able to escape the prevous Digital Point and arrive just after Eiji went through), and their Tamers through the gateway as well before Cherubimon passed out.
- Lightning Spear: Fires a spear of lightning.
Seraphimon is one of the Three Archangels.
At Christmas time, Ophanimon forces other Digimon to go along with its idea of holiday spirit. This concerns Seraphimon and Cherubimon (Good) causing them to travel to the Human World, via a Digital Point, to ask the Tamers for help.
When Examon tries to get into the domain the Three Archangels guard, Seraphimon refuses to allow Examon in. With Examon pissed off that the Archangels had refused to help the Royal Knights find Lucemon, as well as refusing to allow it into their domain, a fight ensues with the Tamers (unaware to the fighting Digimon) caught in the middle – though BaoHuckmon is able to get them out of harms way in time to stop them all being killed by Examon's Dragonic Impact. This doesn't last long however as their attacks end up splitting the ground, causing the Tamers and Partner Digimon to fall into it. The fight continues and eventually Crusadermon arrives to back up Examon. Jesmon had been watching the fight, not sure on who to support, with Crusadermon deciding that meant it was supporting Seraphimon, with Crusadermon also assuming that Seraphimon was harboring Lucemon in the place it used to live. Jesmon and Crusadermon fight, with Examon and Seraphimon's fight continuing. Rasenmon, who had gotten out of the hole alongside the rest of the group, tries to stop the fight between Examon and Seraphimon though its cries go unheard. Needing to stop the battle, Rasenmon fires its attacks against the attacks of both Digimon, neutralising them. Noticing their attacks had stopped, the duo notice it wasn't the other that had stopped them and finally notice Rasenmon. Rasenmon is unable to talk the out of fighting and the fight continues, though they stop fighting after Zhuqiaomon awakens and demands to know why everyone was fighting. Unsatisfied with the explanations of the quarrelling factions Zhuqiaomon decides to take the matters into its own hands and joins the battle. Mon however is able to stop the fighting, following Eiji Futami's advice, by pointing out that not all members of the groups had let their opinions be known and set up a summit between the Four Holy Beasts, Royal Knights, Three Archangels, and the Tamers.
After coming to an agreement with the other groups, the Archangels teams up with the Deva to deal with issues in the Digital World. One day, Seraphimon and Sandiramon team up to defeat a large amount of evil Digimon terrorising the Digital World. Surpirsed at the high amount of them running around, Seraphimon theorises that a portal to the Dark Area must've been opened and sets off to seal it with the help of Sandiramon, who knew where the portal was having seen many evil Digimon arriving together in the same place. After transporting through the portal they come across Takumi Hiiragi and Dorumon, with Sandiramon attacking Takumi on sight – aiming to kill. Dorumon intercepts the blow, protecting Takumi, and then warp digivolves to Gaiomon. As Seraphimon fights Gaiomon, Sandiramon hides, and during the battle, Takumi realises they can't win and has Gaiomon flee with Seraphimon pursuing them. As they run away, they try to trick Seraphimon into falling into their nearby trap, whilst Seraphimon charges up an attack that would kill everyone. As Takumi refuses to give up, still wanting to defeat the Archangel, Gaiomon surrenders – finally standing up to Takumi, refusing to be evil and blaming itself as it realised that Takumi would never do something evil unless it was to protect his partner. Gaiomon then ends its partnership with Takumi and dedigivolves to Dorumon. Seraphimon accepts the surrender, however Sandiramon does not and attacks the duo – once again with the intent to kill them. After attacking Takumi and knocking him unconcious Sandiramon attempts to kill Dorumon though the other Tamers arrive and protect their former allies. As it fights against them, a group of Spiral show up and using the power hacked into them by Eiji Futami, paralyse everyone. As the Spiral attack them, they take more and more damage and as they're all close to death Takumi and Dorumon return – with the duo having decided to turn against Eiji, returning to the side of good. Dorumon, having digivolved to Gaiomon Fierce Blade Mode, defeats the Spirals and saves everyone then uses its new powers to cure everyone of the paralysis. He then tells everyone that Eiji was behind everything, shocking the group.
