Armadillomon is the partner of Cody Hida.
Appearance[]
In the Japanese version, he speaks with a Nagoya dialect and usually ends his sentences with "da'gya!". In the dub, this turned into a Southern United States accent. Armadillomon's easy going nature is a sharp contrast to his partner Cody's serious personality.
Description[]
Armadillomon is one of the three Digimon of ancient times who were sealed away by the Digimon Sovereign Azulongmon in case of a crisis. He was awakened when the Digimon Emperor began his conquest of the Digital World. Cody, on his first visit to the Digital World, lifted the Digi-Egg of Knowledge. This freed Armadillomon from his suspended animation.
Armadillomon is recruitable in Digimon Tamers: Brave Tamer if Ryo Akiyama saves Cody and is playable in any chapters of Digimon Tamers: Digimon Medley where Cody is a character.
Attacks:
- Diamond Shell (Rolling Stone): Armadillomon curls up into a ball and rams into the opponent.
- Scratch Beat: Rapidly slashes enemies using his claws.
Other Forms[]
Tsubumon[]
Tsubumon is Armadillomon's Fresh form. The name "Tsubumon" comes the Japanese word "Tsubu", which means 'a grain' or 'a drop'. Tsubumon often appears after Armadillomon de-digivolves from his Shakkoumon form.
Attacks:
- Bubble Blow (Acid Bubbles): Fires bubbles from the mouth.
Upamon[]
Upamon is the In-Training form of Armadillomon. The name "Upamon" comes from the Nahuatl word "upa", referring to a young axolotl (a type of salamander). Armadillomon de-digivolves into this form when he returns to the Real World. He is incredibly hyper-active compared to his Rookie form.
Attacks:
- Shock Shout
Digmon[]
Digmon, the "Drill of Knowledge" and "Drill of Power" is the form Armadillomon takes when he armor digivolves with the Digi-Egg of Knowledge. He noted that the "drill of knowledge" makes him sound smarter.
Armadillomon first armor digivolved to Digmon on the day of his revival,[3] when the Digimon Emperor abducted Davis. Cody's desire to understand life's mysteries evoked the power of the Digi-Egg, allowing Armadillomon to armor digivolve to Digmon and destroy the Dark Ring on Drimogemon, a Digimon who was under the Emperor's control. Digmon was a valuable fighter during the Digimon Emperor's reign of terror, but when Ken renounced his evil persona, Armadillomon was now able to digivolve normally to Ankylomon, who became his main fighting form, thus Digmon was only used for underground battles since he is the only Digimon who can dig.
Digmon is Armadillomon's Armor Digivolution in Digimon Tamers: Digimon Medley and can be used in Digimon Tamers: Brave Tamer by equipping the Digmon card on Armadillomon.
Armadillomon can also Armor digivolve to Digmon with the Digi-Egg of Knowledge in the virtual pet D-3.
Attacks:
- Gold Rush: Digmon fires his drills towards the opponent.
- Rock Crackin' (Big Crack): Digmon rams his drills in the ground, causing a fissure.
Submarimon[]
Submarimon, the "Reliable Guardian of the Seas", is the form Armadillomon takes when he armor digivolves with the Digi-Egg of Reliability.
Armadillomon first became Submarimon on the day the Digi-Egg of Reliability was found. The DigiDestined children had been trapped in an offshore oil platform by a MegaSeadramon who was under the control of the Digimon Emperor. Cody was able to invoke the power of the Digi-Egg of Reliability, allowing Armadillomon to armor digivolve to Submarimon. With the help of Ikkakumon, Submarimon destroyed the Dark Spiral on MegaSeadramon and freed the DigiDestined. Submarimon is one of the few digimon forms belonging to the Digimon who is well-equipped for combat in water, and was extremely powerful for an Armor level for this dedicated role. He was strong enough to attack Ultimate level Digimon head-on and to some extent stand up to a Mega Level like Blackwargreymon. His head also contains a cockpit that can fit a single human. Even after Ken renounced his evil persona, Submarimon was still used for underwater battles as he is the only digimon who could swim.
Submarimon is Armadillomon's Armor Digivolution in Digimon Tamers: Digimon Medley and can be used in Digimon Tamers: Brave Tamer by equipping the Submarimon card on Armadillomon.
Armadillomon can also Armor digivolve to Submarimon with the Digi-Egg of Reliability in the virtual pet D-3.
Attacks:
- Oxygen Torpedo (Oxygen Homing): Submarimon fires oxygen torpedoes from his front compartment.
- Submarine Attack: Submarimon fires energy beams of water at his opponent.
Pteramon[]
in the CD Drama Armor Evolution to the Unknown, he can also digivolve to Pteramon with the Digi-Egg of Love.
Armadillomon can also Armor digivolve to Pteramon with the Digi-Egg of Love in the virtual pet D-3.
Other Armor forms[]
In the virtual pet D-3, Armadillomon can Armor digivolve with each of the other Digi-Eggs.
Ankylomon[]
Ankylomon is Armadillomon's champion form. His name is derived from the dinosaur ankylosaurus.
Armadillomon first digivolved to Ankylomon to protect Cody from Thundermon, who the DigiDestined encountered when they were helping to rebuild the Digital World after all the damage done by the Digimon Emperor. Since then, Ankylomon has appeared more than Digmon and Submarimon. Later, during the DigiDestined's final battle against BlackWarGreymon, Ankylomon was able to DNA digivolve with Angemon to Shakkoumon, who was the first to actually inflict any real damage on the Mega-leveled BlackWarGreymon. He was also vital to battle against the Daemon Corps and MaloMyotismon.
When the Watchmaker summons the heroes of the past to the Fusion universe to help take down Quartzmon, Ankylomon shows up with Cody Hida and MagnaGarurumon to assist in the DigiQuartz. A Great Legendary Hero Gathering! The Digimon All-star Showdown!!
Ankylomon is Armadillomon's Champion form in Digimon Tamers: Digimon Medley and Digimon Tamers: Brave Tamer.
Attacks:
- Tail Hammer: Ankylomon uses the spiked end of his tail as a hammer.
- Megaton Press: Ankylomon leaps into the air and slams his body onto his opponent.
Shakkoumon[]
Shakkoumon is an Ultimate-level Mutant Digimon DNA-digivolved from Angemon and Ankylomon, combining Ankylomon's armor with Angemon's holy power. A primarily defensive fighter, he's able to absorb most attacks from more powerful Digimon. When he runs out of energy, Shakkoumon degenerates to Tokomon and Tsubumon.
Shakkoumon was first formed when the DigiDestined attempted to protect the last Destiny Stone from BlackWarGreymon. Both Cody and T.K. knew that the Destiny Stone must not be destroyed, regardless of BlackWarGreymon's wishes, so their partners, Angemon and Ankylomon, were able to DNA digivolve and form Shakkoumon, who teamed up with Paildramon and Silphymon to fend off BlackWarGreymon. Although the three Ultimates were unable to defeat BlackWarGreymon, they were able to stall him for long enough for the children to evacuate the Destiny Stone which allowed them to, unknowingly, summon Azulongmon.
Shakkoumon later took part in the final battle with BigUkkomon, working with Silphymon to sever most of the giant Mega's tentacles, giving Imperialdramon Fighter Mode a clean shot with his Giga Crusher attack. Digimon Adventure 02: The Beginning
In the battle against BigUkkomon, Shakkoumon and Silphymon severe most of his tentacles to give Imperialdramon Fighter Mode a clean shot. Digimon Adventure 02: The Beginning
Shakkoumon is Armadillomon's Ultimate form through DNA Digivolution in Digimon Tamers: Digimon Medley and his natural Ultimate form in Digimon Tamers: Brave Tamer, though by equipping him and Angemon with Calumon cards they can digivolve to Shakkoumon.
Attacks
- Justice Beam (荒御魂 Aramitama?, lit. "Rough Spirit"): Radiates red laser beams from his eyes that can reach 100000° at their focal point.
- Kachina Bombs (和御魂 Nigimitama?, lit. "Harmonious Spirit"): Fires clay disks from his waist.
Vikemon[]
Vikemon is Armadillomon's Mega form.
While in Ryo Akiyama's party, Armadillomon can digivolve to Vikemon. Digimon Tamers: Brave Tamer
