They'd have to limit the powers though, as to not make the characters overpowered.
Its surprising that none of the seasons of the Digimon anime tried this premise of the characters being able to use their crest powers. As for the Fanfic itself, its not that good to be honest in my opinion I only looked through it, but its clearly one of those Fanfics if you know what I mean and I was mostly only interested in the crest powers idea that it presented.

I found this Estonian VHS of Digimon The Movie on a Baltic Auction website, I can't buy it and even if I don't have a VHS player. I need to know if they actually dubbed it into Estonian, if so then this will be the only time they did with any part of the Digimon anime. @Mavsfan33 I think that they meant just the tamer alone as a fighter, although it would work much better if it was the same as the Pokémon Trainer just like how you mentioned and they could also make the alt costumes different tamers and their partners Tai & Agumon, Davis & Veemon, Takato & Guilmon etc.
Honestly a human character wouldn't be the best choice especially with a lack of a moveset that a Digimon would already have.

I mean Etemon and Nanimon also use Filth attacks, albeit they can also use other attack types.
I always preferred Digimon World 1 the most out of all the original 4 World games.
